NPNY: NPGMC is not accepting new members
Apparently if you try to purchase a membership, this page comes up: http://www.npgmusicclub.com/register.php A graphic that states, The NPGMC is currently not accepting any new membership. Not sure how long it's been there but it has to be a recent change, since I read of people buying memberships as recently as June 16. Any speculations on what it can mean? - Upgrading the database? - Changing the terms of membership? - In preparation for a tour, they've capped the number of members to allow for presale opportunities for all existing members? Especially if he's gonna charge big money for a tour. But doesn't that change the contractual terms for those of us who have become life members Could be breach of contract. (Lawd know they've tried that one already, I'm sure he doesn't want that againg) More than likely, those with inactive accounts may be affected. It would not bother me in the least if he is changing the membership structure or cost. It has irriated me since Musicology that droves of people joined only for ticket access...and it seems that way to me because I met many of them! Most fan clubs do have yearly membership duestho for that you usually do get something over and above preferred tickets. What I think is more likely, however, is that it is costing him far more than he is earning with it AND that he is getting bored with it all, regardless of how many awards he's won. The awful thing is if he would just sell us MUSIC or VIDEOS or PICTURES (sue me, I like pictures of him) instead of the ridiculous (and ridiculously overpriced) stuff in the store he would probably have a continually positive cash flow.
