What
kinda hypocrite goes to a charity event and doesn't contribute to the

I know Sam Talbot paid for him and his girlfriend. But he's not big
time known. Those people had to pay or Prince would lose money paying
for the venue. Plus I saw people paying at the table in the back and
they weren't fans. Too many pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes
stumbling on those horrible cobblestones through our little crowd to
the door. I don't care how many celeb events he hosts, I just want us
to get invites to at least some.

Even if I can't afford to go.

I was there for the second show and met some friends coming out of
the
first. They were terribly disappointed with the performance. Many
ticket
holders came out urging us to sell our tickets, which wasn't an
option at
the time. Here's the report I sent to my friends after the
show.Well, for

my
money, I got my money's worth. It certainly didn't suck at all.
Now, at

this
point, my
expectations were lessened, but I don't think they were that
monstrous

having seen him on the awards show last year. All in all, he was
very solid for the first half hour, came in and out with the band
for

next half hour and the band played another 30 minutes after that. We
heard a lot of great tunes including "If You Want me to Stay" and
"Hot
Fun in the Summertime" and a smokin' version of "Sing a Simple
Song". I

thought the band was very good and not nearly as confused as you had
mentioned. They watched Sly and picked it up when he dropped back.
All
in all the show (which didn't start until 12 am) cooked all the
way up

to 1:15 and the band looked like it wanted to stay on longer, though
Sly certainly didn't have the stamina. Doing a little internet
research

this morning, I am listening to a live show from '68 at the Fillmore
East that lasted only 53 minutes. I'm also noting that Sly's shows
back
in the day started notoriously late and he was generally late or
didn't

show at all, so it seems we did see vintage Sly.

http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/dt/sly-and-the-family-stone/580-6533.html

Lastly, though the price was high, I think it was proportionate to
the
quality of the act in the size of the venue. Legitimately, he
could have
easily filled the Beacon at $45 and that would have just sucked.
I'd rather
pay twice as much to see him in a small club like B B King's. The
crowd

really enjoyed it and despite the long wait for the show, everybody
generally walked out very happy.Moral of the story, if you do see
Sly, go

to
the second show.

Peace,
