Re: [NSWolves] Team for Albion [sec=unclassified]

2011-05-09 Thread Steven Millward
I could argue that we were lucky to have two goals from badly defended
corners too. However, As JIWAL said in Perth "I remember the last time we
scored from a corner - 1976", so I'm quite happy to have that record set
straight. Whilst I could argue we were lucky we created enormous pressure
and the baggies seemed shell shocked. We deserved the result just for
that. The best team won.

Our midfield and forwards are pretty decent now with cover to boot. We need
some strengthening in defence over the summer if we stay up. I barely saw
Mancienne first half but most of the time we were around their goal.
Occasionnally it seemed as if they got carved open by throgh balls and
didn't have the pace or positional sense to deal with it.

If only the game had been set up with 12 players 150 years ago. We'd be
ideally suited to a 452 formation

I am not taking anything whatsover away from the performance, particularly
in the first half. HOWEVER, the scoreline doesn't tell the true story of the
whole game. We were very very lucky at times in the secomd half.

We need one of those Odenwatsits badly.

Fletcher had a bliner and has won over quite a number of people with that
performance.

Hunt really got in there faces, he'd be an annoying little bugga to play
against.

Guideora always puts in a good shift and definately gave them something to
think about.

When the team sheet came out I was gobsmacked that both Jarvis and Milijas
were on tghe bench, but for once Mad Mick's tactics worked...JUST.

first half performance, from an odd team selection. Where have these
performances been the last month?

Fletcher, Guediora and Hunt were excellent. Hunt chased everything.
Fletcher is a good footballer in lots of ways.

One win now should be enough. We might get away with not needing much else

Wigan have Stoke and West Ham

West Ham have Sunderland and Wigan (come on West Ham)

I'm happy to be corrected but I would suspect that the vast majority of
those 2 million children would not be part of a Christian
society/nation, so the God of which Jeremy speaks is unlikely to help
them. That's not to say that they don't have their own 'spiritual'
leader/icon that may or may not have let them down.

Still, it seems a trifle unfair that two million children worldwide are
forced to work as prostitutes and barely know anything else, when God
could end it all with a wave of the wand. I'm sure even if they knew
about Jesus, it would be of little comfort whilst they are getting
beaten and sodomized.

I may get to a longer response... but probably not...

The standard argument goes something like: If God is all powerful and
all loving how come there is suffering in the world?

The basic premise is flawed from my point of view. I'd respond something
like:

If God is all powerful and all loving and there is suffering in the
world then God must have an important purpose involving suffering.

As in all theological discussions Jesus needs be kept at the centre -
and there he is as soon you raise the issue of suffering.

God's purposes in creation are centred on Jesus. Jesus' own suffering,
death and resurrection are the guarantee that, when he returns, death
will have no power and suffering will be ended. Forever.

There's my briefest theodicy. I can trust God now and into the future
because of what Jesus has done in the past.

I'll just duck down while you all start shooting...

You'd better give us a run down on your views on theodicy then Jeremy.
I don't think most of us get it.

You should experiment more. I am convinced that it is very effective (in
important matters!).

If you blokes had spoken to wiser heads on this list you'd have known
that praying is just like Mick.

A total waste of time as it's guaranteed to achieve all.

You can't let the Wombat's drop down to V. It's only bots and newbies
in there. What's gone wrong?

Marcus is right - the only positive was a point that I hadn't banked but
(but had publicly hoped for).

It was an away game - this Sunday is huge. But it'll probably still come
down to a win against Blackburn so that we scramble over Wigan and
Blackpool to survival.

A bit disappointed - all my ducks were lining up. Walsall won and only
need a draw to survive. Shrewsbury won and a final win would see them
promoted. Bundanoon Wombats had a shock win and will still be relegated.
Wolves...? Glad I don't get to watch the tripe they've dealt out in
recent weeks.

I must be the only one who thinks O'Hara as done very little since
scoring the goal against Albion. Is David Jones fit? I'd prefer him.
Hamill seems to do ok everytime I've seen him, why did Mick drop him in
the first place?
