[NTG-context] texshow-web

2005-02-02 Thread Vit Zyka
Hallo Patrick,
I added one third (only one third but most important one since
analogy;-) of \setuplayout command to tewshow-web. To be more
descriptive I snaffled table of page areas from wiki. Unfortunately
comment field seems not to be html sensitive (see
http://texshow.contextgarden.net/ts.rb?lang=en&what=desc&if=en&cmd=setuplayout)
...

Is there some chance to display the table here or it is better to refer
to the wiki page (http://contextgarden.net/Layout)?

Hello,

this ispired an idea: would it be possible to make the characters
configurable? I.e. to have in fact || configurable for pre-break,
post-break, and no-break character? I think it might be generic enough
for most languages.

Say, we would have
\setuphyphenmark[.. = ..]
sign ... (for backwards compatibility, would set up all the following)
presign ...
postsign ...
nosign ...

1) From some time the hyphen started to be defined
  \def\compoundhyphen{\hbox{-\kern-.25ex-}}

  \def\compoundhyphen{-}
I intend to incorporated it to Czech support. (cont-cz.tex ?)
2) This kind of |.| does not operate inside with XML processing.
Here is minimal example sent last week:

[NTG-context] Re: How to use and not embed the PdfBase14 fonts?

2005-02-02 Thread Stefan Wachter
Hi Hans,
after a lot of experiments I could generate a PDF document where the
built-in Helvetica font is used. Yet, there are some open questions:

1. The \loadmapfile makro seems not to work. I tried lots of variants.
Only direct use of the pdfTex makro \pdfmapfile was successful.

2. In the praeambel I specify the enconding to be "ec". Yet, in the map
file I had to define a mapping for an 8r encoded font!

3. Texexec shows some warnings during the run. Maybe they are related to
the second question. The warnings are:

Warning: pdfetex (file ec-urw-courier.map): cannot open font map file
Warning: pdfetex (file ec-urw-helvetica.map): cannot open font map file
Warning: pdfetex (file ec-urw-times.map): cannot open font map file
Can you please have a short look on these questions?
Best regards,
--Stefan
Here is my test document:
\enableregime[il1]
\setupoutput[pdftex]
\usetypescript[adobekb][ec]
\usetypescript[postscript][ec]
\setupbodyfont[postscript,sans,12pt]
\mainlanguage[de]
\setupheadertexts[]
\pdfoptionpdfminorversion 4
\starttext
\pdfmapfile{=embed.map}%
This is a test.
\stoptext
And here is the map file embed.map:
%phvb8t Helvetica-Bold "TeXBase1Encoding ReEncodeFont"
%uhvb8t Helvetica-Bold "TeXBase1Encoding ReEncodeFont"

[NTG-context] hyphenation mess

2005-02-02 Thread Hans Hagen
Hi,
When generating new minimal trees, i found out that the us patterns are now
again in hyphen.tex and the uk patterns also got a new name. It is a that the
naming of pattern files is a mess, and that some pattern files are not in the
right spot, and things are not improving. The fact that this is solved with the
fuzzy aliasses mechanism in web2c does not help, since this is implementation
dependent and makes the texmf tree not sharable.

I'll try to catch the new names in the next version, and in the meantime start
wondering if it makes sense to add consistently names and structured hyphenation
files to the context distribution.

[NTG-context] font handling and \showfont

2005-02-02 Thread Albrecht Kauffmann

Hi all,

I have a question regarding the use of font handling. With the trailer

\setupoutput[pdftex]
\useencoding[win]
\setupalign[hanging]
\setupfontsynonym [Serif] [handling=pure]
\setupfontsynonym [Sans] [handling=pure]
\setupfontsynonym [Mono] [handling=punctuation]
\usetypescript [all] [latin-modern][texnansi]
\setupbodyfont[reset]
\setupbodyfont[cmr]

I get output with expected hanging punctuation only if I type after
\starttext the command

\showfont[Serif].

Without the latter the protruding mechanism doesn't work. My question is:
How can I get hanging punctuation without the command "\showfont[Serif]"?

With many thanks for any hint
Albrecht
