[NTG-context] need help for the installation of luatools

2007-09-11 Thread Dalyoung Jeong
Hi, all,

I have downloaded binary files(lua5_1_2_Darwin89_bin_tar). After
unzip, there are 3 files "bin2c5.1,  lua5.1, luac5.1".
I copied lua5.1 as luatex and texlua in the folder /usr/texbin.
I also copied luatools.lua as luatools in the folder /usr/texbin.

I updated the ConTeXt and try to install LuaTeX.

But, I got an error as following when I issue "luatools".

apple: dalyoung$ luatools
texlua: /usr/texbin/luatools:4183: attempt to index global 'lua' (a
nil value)
stack traceback:
 /usr/texbin/luatools:4183: in main chunk
 [C]: ?

I am using TeXlive installed with i-installer.

Please give me some hints to avoid the errors.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Dalyoung

I did this interview where I just mentioned that I read Foucault. Who
doesn't in university, right? I was in this strip club giving this
guy a lap dance and all he wanted to do was to discuss Foucault with
me. Well, I can stand naked and do my little dance, or I can discuss
Foucault, but not at the same time; too much information.

Sorry, the catcode code is not by me, and I understand it only partly
- I'm able to write PostScript and a lot of other languages, but TeX
and Scheme are too obscure for me. Perhaps we can re-implement the
module in Lua...

If you come up with a fix, I'll gladly put it in the module.

(There's still a lot more to be fixed/extended; since I'll have to
finish my songbook soon, I'll have to cope with some of that...)

I'd set the default typesetting command to 'command listed below' and
there to your newly designed command.

[NTG-context] itemize + linux context update

2007-09-11 Thread Horacio Suarez

hello all, generous people:

I have in a file this:

   \startitemize[a,packed]

  \item uno

  \item dos

   \stopitemize

If I compile it on windows, (ver 2007.08.29) it´s ok; but if I compile it on
linux ubuntu (context version: 2007.04.17) I get this ERROR:

Missing = inserted for \ifnum

I suposse I need to update context in linux. I've downloaded linuxtex.zip
but I don´t know what`s next. Please tell me where to find instructions.

Anyway, beyond the context version in linux, is correct that error?

Thankyou very much.

Okay, I see: I had to upgrade to mpost 1.000, now it works! 0.993
(shipped with tl2007) definitely does not work, and I had to jump
through some loops to make the .mem files point to the right version,
but now it does work. Thanks Hans!

Ok, works as an alias from terminal.
BTW a texetex command already exists, so I used xecontext

But Hraban, how do I then set up TeXShop?

sure, but it depends a bit on what level ... font driven or not

if you have open type fonts, you can add features on the fly ...

\starttext

\installfontfeature[otf][verb]

\definefontfeature
   [test]
   [mode=node,language=dflt,script=latn,
verb=yes,featurefile=verbose-digits.fea]

{\font\test=name:lmroman10regular*test at 20pt \test 1 2 3 4}

\ctxlua{characters.context.show(\number"00AB)}

\stoptext

this replaces 1 by one and 2 by two ...

the file verbose-digits.fea in in the distribution and an example of a
fontforge specification file

>  { "quotedblleft", "grave grave" },
>  { "quotedblright", "quotesingle quotesingle" },
>  { "quotedblbase", "comma comma" }

that's ligatures and there for backward compatibility (hm, makes me
wonder if it makes more sense to do that using feature files)

> and this list is used in the function function
> fonts.initializers.base.otf.texligatures(tfm,value)

in principle you can add lua code in typescripts and then register that
as a feature (so, texligatures or tlig is one of them, as is lineheight)

it all depends on how generic things are; we can think of features like
remap=name-of-remap-vector (keep in mind that this operates on node
lists then; rencoding the input i.e. regimes is done differently)

so .. just write down detailed specs -)
