I really couldn't think that problem was font-dependent :)

Yes, thanks, works fine, but does it really use XeTeX? The wiki says:  
"XeTeX offers some nice features in terms of automatically finding  
related fonts in a family" which would be really convenient to use. I  
really can't find docs on the difference between XeTeX and non-XeTeX  
font handling in ConTeXt.

see previous posts on the list ... use xetex or luatex in which case you

I mean if I define

[NTG-context] XeTeX and precise font sizes

Hello there!

I was googling around, but couldn't really figure out how to use  
OpenType fonts with ConTeXt and XeTeX with precise sizes in points. I  
am trying to create a subsection style with Gentium 24pt.

I am creating a typeface like it's recommended in the documentation:

\definetypeface [Gentium][rm][Xserif][Gentium]

Then I create my own subsection style:

\setuphead  [subsection]
[alternative=inmargin,
numbercolor=orange,
style=\Gentium]

So far so good, but it actually types the subsection out with some pre- 
determined font size.

What I'm trying to do is get my subsections at the size of, say,  
precisely 24 pt.

Stuff like

\definetypeface [Gentium][rm][Xserif][Gentium]
\definefont [Subs][Gentium at 24pt]

apparently invokes non-XeTeX font routines (pardon my ignorance):

kpathsea: Running mktextfm subsections
mktextfm: Running mf-nowin -progname=mf \mode:=ljfour; mag:=1;  
nonstopmode; input subsections
This is METAFONT, Version 2.71828 (Web2C 7.5.6)
kpathsea: Running mktexmf subsections
! I can't find file `subsections'.

The best I was able to get was adding rscale

\definetypeface [Gentium][rm][Xserif][Gentium][rscale=1.4]

which is bad for two reasons: first, it's not logically correct, since  
I am planning to use my typeface for different sizes throughout the  
document, and second, I really want to control my sizes in points.

[NTG-context] \placebookmarks: opening with only topmost levels visible

I tried the example, with the same results, using Mk II 2008.05.21 (on
my Debian i386 laptop), Mk II 2008.07.07 (live.contextgarden.net), and
live Luatex.

Any ideas?  Should I post an issue on the tracker, just for reference?

In my experience, in educational settings there often are headings and
footers on such empty pages, so that it is absolutely clear that it was
not a printing error. YMMV.

\definepagebreak is a normal ConTeXt and not a fix, you could also
use the values in \setuphead without the intermediate way.

Had a look at the former context windows installation. When firing up scite
the output window
mentions "loading scite-ctx.lua definition file".

In ubuntu the scite output window informs

attempt to call a string value

Didn't give much attention to that one previously.

Don't know whether that's the cause of the problem. Nevertheless, any idea
how to set this straight ?

This one look good. Sometime you can see « Ville et date » (town and
date) under « Coordonnées du recruteurs », like in the link under. But
I just call my grand-father (94 years, from the time they learn how to
write a letter in school) and he told me that the Place and Date are
above !

The Latex extention create a center environment in the upper left. For
me it looks ugly… I realy prefer it to be left fluched.

I don't think you can use all the features with XeTeX, bit know  
precious little about XeTeX, my money is on luatex... Anyway, here is

Can you send the typescripts, it's weird to use different files for XeTeX
and LuaTeX because one should work for both.

Hmm, with texexec --lua, I get no errors on the console, but no pdf is

what does texexec --lua do?

(it looks like either luatex is not run or crashed; i'll try to give a 
more meaningful message)

[NTG-context] Adobe ArnoPro in mkiv

Hi all,

I'm trying to use the Adobe ArnoPro font (just testing if it will work  
with
ConTeXt). The font does work with ConTeXt/XeTeX, but not in mkiv. When I
try to compile my test file with mkiv, I get this error message (which
isn't very helpful to me):

  (/home/tas/texmf/tex/context/type-arnopro.tex (/home/tas/texmf/tex/ 
context/type-arnopro.mkiv
MtxRun | return code: ?
...live/texmf-local/scripts/context/lua/mtx-context.lua:572: attempt  
to compare number with nil

I'm using the latest beta and luatex 0.28.0

Can anybody explain what's going wrong here?

indeed nothing has changed; this (possible) confusion comes from the 
fact that we need to handle single sided, double sided and mixed in the 
same command

You can add your information to [1].

AFAIK there is no official letter style in france. I started to write I style
a  based on the lettre class for LaTeX but it's no finished and it's better
to let user decide what layout thex want.

hm, i didn't test distiller but there were no new bet areference manuals 
so i think that not much changed in raw pdf (special kind of annotations 
is another matter)

also, validation is now against the several standards and not against 
version so it might be that standards (pdf/x, pdf/a etc) replace the 
numbers
