With LuaTeX, Version beta-0.41.0-2009070222 (Web2C 2009), this

\starttext
\Ustartmath\Ustack {a \atopwithdelims() b}\Ustopmath

This is a known problem. Sorry I missed your message earlier. The

The problem is exactly locate the error in source .
Sometimes the errorline of the log are in someway imprecise , ie. "the
errors is (are)
around here " .

One commonly finds both cases in English as well as in French.
This also is the default in the LaTeX book class (based on common
English usage. [However, maybe this is a bad idea...]).

Sometimes, the label text only appears in the table of contents,
not on the first page of the chapter. I am not an expert, and only
refer to a sampling of the books in my bookcase
(sorry, I do not have any books in Dutch!)

Rather than setting the labeltext (ConTeXt already knows the labeltext),
I would suggest a switch, such as
\setuphead[chapter][placelabel=yes]

(OK if "no" by default, to conform to common usage in many languages)

Re: [NTG-context] mkiv structure

2009-07-03 Thread Alan BRASLAU
In my experience, a \part is generally
(except in some rather technical documents)
not treated as a super-chapter, that is
chapter numbers (and titles) are not reset
and retain their status as if the book was not
divided into parts.

A very long work is commonly broken into "volumes".
Here, each volume may or may not reset chapter numbers.
Page numbering may or may not reflect the volume number.
This is a sylistic choice.

In my understanding, \part serves to delimit
logical sections of related chapters, not volumes.
Maybe I am wrong in this interpretation;
maybe \part is to be used to delimit volumes.
Nevertheless, it should be relatively simple
for the basic user to be able to select the desired behavior
without having to acquire an understanding of the inner workings
such as prefixsets and sectionsegments.

Obsolete in mkii?
Shouldn't basic use (read standard users)
treat source text transparently
between mkii and mkiv?

\setuphead[part][placehead=yes,resetnumber=no]
\doifmodeelse{mkiv}{
\setuphead[part][sectionsegments=1:1]
\setupstructureheads[sectionsegments=2:5]

\setuppagenumbering[partnumber=no]

[NTG-context] Unwanted empty last page in doublesided document

2009-07-03 Thread B. Tommy Jensen

I am using Context mkII and have the following challenge:

I am using a doblesided layout and want to have an even total number of
pages. The last chapter
should have an empty trailing page (if necessary) to add up to the right
number.

The problem is that I always get an ODD number of pages, and there are
_two_ empty
last pages at the end of the document. I have tried
\installpagebreakhandler with

no effect.

The attached sample shows the problem - two empty pages at end. I would
have expected

the document to stop at page 10, but there is an empty page 11 as well.

Does anyone have a clue here?

Regards,
Tommy Jensen

Sample text follows:

\setuppagenumbering[alternative=doublesided]
\starttext
\startbodymatter
\chapter[]{Kap 1}
\chapter[]{Kap 2}
\chapter[]{Kap 3}
\chapter[]{Kap 4}
\chapter[]{Kap 5}
\stopbodymatter

%-
% Necessary to suppress emtpy last page in doublesided pagenumbering mode

It doesn't work in \setupletterstyle[reference][].
Where must I put it?
Or should I define my own alternative, like yours in default.nli ?

The alternatives a–e are not so easy to move to the place you prefer
because
the start of the bodytext depends on the position (I try to keep
always two lines
between them) but you can copy the layout of one element to another
one with

 \copyletterlement[][][]

which looks for you

 \copyletterelement[reference][hraban][e]

You can now place the reference line with

 \setupletterstyle
   [reference]
   [hoffset=...,
voffset=...]

and the width of the elements in the reference line with

 \setupletter
   [phone,street,...]
   [width=20mm]

Thank you! Offset works, width doesn't (i.e. stays automatical).

BTW: I'm using your simplefonts module for the first time in the
same project - works great, thank you!
(I had to refresh my font database several times, until LuaTeX
could find all faces of my font family, but that's not your
module's fault.)

mtxrun --script fonts --list --pattern=... helps to find the right
name.

I know, it's in the wiki (Fonts_in_LuaTeX). Thanks anyway.

BTW: You can another example for the use of the simplefonts module

Just wanted to ask if you published the source anywhere - didn't check

bold greek) exist is the same font, some don't and might require
another ("bolder") font. Maybe fixing the behaviour of \boldsymbol and
a few mappings for greek could be enogh to start with.

I have tried to enter "MATHEMATICAL BOLD ITALIC SMALL THETA" directly
with LM, but it didn't work (probably there are some mappings still
missing, but it's a bit uncomfortable to type proper mathematical
symbols anyway as editor is somehow lacking the characters and
keyboard would have to be reconfigured heavily).

Sorry, I take my word back. It works OK with \boldsymbol{θ}. However
the functionality in mkiv still needs to be fixed.

in mkiv (unicode) we need complete bold fonts .. (or make additional
vectors); bold alphabets are part of math in unicode and should work ok
but symbols is a 'whole font' issue

I agree ... there are lots of other symbols.

I noticed the "tex-bi" in math-vfu (I'm still looking into beta
version). There's no mapping for it, but I guess that it's probably
exactly the same as "math-bi".

Do you plan to misuse "tex-bi" or to to define mathematics.make_font (
"lmroman10-boldmath" ... ) for bold math then?

currently only math tf is defined (fam 0) and we will also have math bf
(fam 1); mostly a matter of definitions but i was not in the mood to
figure out all the bold fonts involved/needed

no, this is one of the few places where there will be a difference; we

want to complicate the mkiv code with too many compatibility hacks

[NTG-context] Module installation

2009-07-03 Thread Wolfgang Schuster

Installation of modules
===

Basics
––

The installation of extra files in TeX (called modules in ConTeXt) can
be hard
for people how are new in TeX or aren't interested in TeX programming
themselve.

According to the TDS (TeX directory structure) and the ConTeXt
developers user

written files reside under the path

$TEXMF/tex/context/third//

in the private TeX directory ($TEXMF), private directories can have
the names

• texmf-local
• texmf-extra
• texmf-project

but there existence depend on the TeX distribution and texmf-local is
the most

common one.

Installation by hand

When you want to install a new module which is available as file only
create
the subdirectories in the way described above and place the file
there, for
modules which are available as zip files with precreated
subdorectories you
can unzip the archive in the top-level directory (e.g. texmf-local/)
and all

files are on the correct place.

After the files are placed at the right place you have to update TeX's
database

to let it know where it can find the files, this is done for MkII with

mktexlsr (command name depends on the TeX distribution)

and for MkIV with

context --generate

ConTeXt minimals

Users of the ConTeXt minimals dont't have to download the module files
and unzip
them in the local directory because they can use the 'first-setup' for
this.

To install for example the simpleslides modules you write

first-setup.sh --extras="t-simpleslides"

To install more modules at the same time write

first-setup.sh --extras="t-simpleslides,t-french"

The complete list of availables modules in minimals is:

• f-urwgaramond
• f-urwgothic
• t-account
• t-algorithmic
• t-bib
• t-bnf
• t-chromato
• t-cmscbf
• t-cmttbf
• t-construction-plan
• t-degrade
• t-fixme
• t-french
• t-games
• t-gnuplot
• t-layout
• t-letter

• t-lilypond
• t-mathsets
• t-simplefonts
• t-simpleslides
• t-taspresent
• t-tikz
• t-typearea

Re: [NTG-context] pdf with password/security

2009-07-03 Thread Ciro Soto
Thank you...
I found pdftk in the web, and it does the encryption in 128bits,
passwords, merging, etc... It will do the job.

Re: [NTG-context] simplefonts?

2009-07-03 Thread Wolfgang Schuster

Thanks a lot,
works pretty well with Delicious.
But does not with other systems fonts.
I'm on macosx and the other fonts (apart from LM) are all ttf.
From wiki I was thinking that ttf were supported, ?

Don't know what you mean, the following works here

\usemodule[simplefonts]

\setmainfont[Times New Roman]
\setsansfont[Arial Unicode MS]
\setmonofont[Courier New]

\starttext

\rm\tf roman \it italic \bf bold \bi bolditalic \sc smallcaps

\ss\tf roman \it italic \bf bold \bi bolditalic \sc smallcaps

\tt\tf roman \it italic \bf bold \bi bolditalic \sc smallcaps

\stoptext

When you mean American Typewriter, Futura, Optima etc. you're wrong
because they are saved in .dfont format which can't be used from LuaTeX
but you can create normal ttf fonts with the program fondu.
