[NTG-context] theorem environment

2011-07-12 Thread Andreas Richter

Hello,

Using ConTeXt, I would like to define environments to appear
like

--
Theorem 1.4 (Pythagoras)
In any right triangle, $c^2 = a^2 + b^2$ holds
where ...
--

and

  --- Example 1.1 ---
  Let $a=2$ ...
  ---

and (e. g. small, slanted or whatever)

Remark 1.3
--
  | Euclidean ...
  | ...
.

After browsing the documentation on the web, focussing
on \defineenummeration, I'm still nowhere near the solution.
Could anyone please give examples of how to do this?

Regards, Andreas

[NTG-context] Precise Destination of References

2011-07-12 Thread H. Hodges
I have links to different parts of my document using \goto. I would like to know
if there is some way to increase the precision of the links' destination. When I
click them, they navigate to the correct page, but not the correct part of the
page. Also, I've opened the document in several different pdf viewers, and,
whenever I click a link, the document re-sizes itself. Is there a way to prevent
this?

I did put it under TEXMFSYSCONFIG and it works. But I think it is
better kept in a personal directory. I suspect that TEXMFPROJECT
will do too. But it is not appropriate as it would apply to every

When you want a different font for the titlepage then switch
to helvetica *in* the standardmakeup environment and don’t switch
font before and after the environment.

\setupbodyfont[palatino]

\startsetups[titlepage]
\switchtobodyfont[helvetica]
\stopsetups

\startstandardmakeup[align=middle,setups=titlepage]

You can use “context.setvalue”. To convert numbers in different formats
you can use the \convertnumber command.

\starttext

\startluacode
context.setvalue("One","1")
context.setvalue("Two","2")
\stopluacode

\define\Three{3}

\One:\Two:\Three

\blank

\startluacode
context.define({2},"\\CMDA","[One:#1,Two:#2]")
\stopluacode

\define[2]\CMDB{[One:#1,Two:#2]}

\CMDA{1}{2}
\CMDB{1}{2}

\blank

\convertnumber{R}{1400}

\stoptext

whatever you like best

context.setvalue{"Mymacro",somevalue)

context([[\def\MyMacro#1{#1}]])

Exist other (best or most optimal) way to do?
for i = 1, 10 do
tex.sprint(tex.ctxcatcodes,'\\def\\macro'..ar2rom(i)..'\{macro '..i..'\}')
context('\\def\\Macro'..ar2rom(i)..'\{Macro '..i..'\}')
end

for i = 1, 10 do
  context([[\def\Macro%s{Macro%s}]],ar2rom(i),i)
end

When more than one argument is given, the context command treats the
first argument as format template.

By using the context command you can see what happens with

\enabletrackers[context.trace]

[NTG-context] Optimal way to defining of macros in Luacode in ConTeXt

2011-07-12 Thread Jaroslav Hajtmar

Hello ConTeXist.

How best (optimally) in Lua code in ConTeXt define own ConTeXt macros?

I was used recently LuaTeX syntax (for example) :
tex.sprint(tex.ctxcatcodes,'\\def\\mymacro\{arg of mymacro\}')

But someone advised me that I use the better syntax:
context('\\def\\Mymacro\{arg of mymacro\}')
or context("\\def\\test#1{#1}") etc...

Exist other (best or most optimal) way to do?

for example something like:
context.def.mymacro("first arg", "sec arg:") (which of course does not
work ...)

Thanx Jaroslav

My example:

\startluacode

function ar2rom(arnum) -- Convert Arabic numbers to Roman. Used for
"numbering" column in the TeX macros

  local romans = {{1000, "M"},
  {900, "CM"}, {500, "D"}, {400, "CD"}, {100, "C"},
  {90, "XC"}, {50, "L"}, {40, "XL"}, {10, "X"},
  {9, "IX"}, {5, "V"}, {4, "IV"}, {1, "I"} }
  local romnum=''
  for _, v in ipairs(romans) do -- create of the Roman numbers
val, let = unpack(v)
while arnum >= val do
  arnum = arnum - val
  romnum=romnum..let
end
  end
  return romnum
end

for i = 1, 10 do
  tex.sprint(tex.ctxcatcodes,'\\def\\macro'..ar2rom(i)..'\{macro
'..i..'\}')

  context('\\def\\Macro'..ar2rom(i)..'\{Macro '..i..'\}')
end

tex.sprint(tex.ctxcatcodes,'\\def\\mymacro\{arg of mymacro\}')
context('\\def\\Mymacro\{arg of Mymacro\}')

\stopluacode

\starttext

\macroI, \MacroI

\macroII, \MacroII

etc ...

\macroIX, \MacroIX

\macroX, \MacroX

\Mymacro, \mymacro

\stoptext

Mostly the wiki pages and neural paths in a few dozen heavy context

you have to be a ntg member in order to read the latest two issues.

the link http://www.ntg.nl/maps/42/maps.pdf (= all MAPS together) seems to be
broken;
also other links to http://www.ntg.nl/maps/42/*.pdf;
could they be recovered?

TIA.

Sure, you have to be a ntg member in order to read the latest two
issues. So being a member has some benefits (and also helps tex continue
to exist).

I don't see why documents created by context/luatex should pose a
problem with respect to adding annotations. If 38 annotations are good
for 100M extra data then

(1) the annotations are huge, or
(2) the editing app messes up or
(3) the user could try to 'save as' instead of 'save' (often forces cleanup)

The kind of pdf produced by context/luatex is pretty simple and
efficient and does not have any clever tricks. The auto magic is
unrelated to the pdf.

[NTG-context] Layouts in ConTeXt book finished and available

2011-07-12 Thread Taco Hoekwater

Hi all,

We are glad to announce the availability of another ConTeXt book:

  Layouts in ConTeXt

  Willi Egger & Hans Hagen & Taco Hoekwater

  "One of the principles behind ConTeXt is that you can create your
   own styles. Often defining a style starts with setting up the
   page layout. This booklet explains in detail how to do that.
   It also contains information on how to prepare your documents for
   professional printing, including page imposition."

  ISBN 978-94-90688-00-4, in English, 142 pages, 24 EURO excl. shipping.

  http://www.h2o-books.com/node/12 (English website interface)
  http://www.h2o-boeken.nl/node/12 (Dutch website interface)

Please allow a little bit more time for delivery than 3-4 workings
days when you place an order immediately. We ordered an initial set
from the printer this morning, but it turned out that there were
already more pre-orders than Taco had anticipated, so most of the books
from that initial set are already sent out. And while our supply line
is fast, it is not quite doable to get a new stack within 3 working
days.

Best wishes,

Boekplan / H2O Books

PS
We have received a cease&desist for http://www.boekplan.nl/ from the
company that owns http://www.boekenplan.nl/, we have switched to the new
name "H2O Boeken" (H2O Books). This new name is based on the first
letters of the last names of the owners of the company.
