[NTG-context] Resume module with moderncv interface

2016-10-06 Thread Jonas Baggett

Hello,

I am trying to use the resume module with the moderncv interface without
any success so far. I have errors when I am trying to use any of the
added commands like \setresumevalue or \cvline. Log file is attached.

Here is my context file (CV.tex) :

\usemodule[resume][interface=moderncv,style=casual]

\starttext

\setresumevalue{firstname} {John}
\setresumevalue{familyname}{Doe}

\startresume

\cvline{A} {B}

\stopresume

\stoptext

I have compared the list of the installed files of an old version of the
ubuntu context-modules package
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/fr/precise/all/context-modules/filelist)
with a recent one
(http://packages.ubuntu.com/fr/xenial/all/context-modules/filelist) and
it seems to me that the moderncv interface was removed in ConTeXt some
time ago. Is it really the case ?

Best regards,
Jonas Baggett

normally one takes ranges from fallbacks but individual characters are
also possible; it's hard to predict how well it works in math because
there fonts and parameters play together

There is a tikz-cd package at CTAN:
  https://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/graphics/pgf/contrib/tikz-cd?lang=en

One makes sure to have the file tikzlibrarycd.code.tex, and follows the
translation rules in the manual for ConTeXt. In addition to that, one seems to
have to replace the apostrophe with "below".

The first few examples in the manual, which compiled with latest ConTeXt:

\usemodule[tikz]

An important part are the updated and added manuals, have a look at
http://www.pragma-ade.com/overview.htm

LuaTeX 1.0.0 is announced and distributed.

Minimals contain a new cowfont (with colorable backgrounds) and some (most?
all?) of the manuals.

Oh, and the new interface files (texmf-context/tex/context/interface)!

A team, mostly the board. When it’s ready. Last year’s should be on its way

[NTG-context] not understanding basic imposition

2016-10-06 Thread Pablo Rodriguez
Dear list,

sorry, but I don’t understand why the second imposed page is reduced
from margins in this sample:

   \showframe
\setuppapersize[A5][A4]
\setuplayout
  [backspace=0pt,
topspace=0pt,
 marking=page,
location=middle,
  header=0pt,
  footer=0pt]

\starttext
\startpagemakeup
  \filterpages[setup-en.pdf][1][width=0cm]
\stoppagemakeup
\filterpages[setup-en.pdf][1][width=0cm]
\stoptext

Could anyone explain me why this happens and how to get the result from
first page (no reduction) without the makeup?

Many thanks for your help,

Pablo

This file was removed and listed with a URL under different name. So just
download it and rename it to tikzlibrarycommute.code.tex, and the example
compiles.

Hello Mojca,

If I recall correctly someone mentioned on the list that you typically
collect the slides during the meeting. Would it be possible to share them
if you have done so this year?

In general, is there any material related to the meeting that unlucky
non-participants can access? I mean, besides the group photo that's up on
the website :)

Who's in charge of the "proceedings," by the way? When will that be sent
to members of the ConTeXt User Group?

Or the roll-over text: I searched for ConTeXt and commutative diagrams, and
this was the only example code I found.

From my side, it was just a test, as commutative diagrams is an example of a
math 2D layout.

It would probably be good if ConTeXt supports it out of the box.

Sorry, I couldn't resist, but post a link to:
http://xkcd.com/1742/

This goes to the
Anything that "requires only minimal configuration and tweaking"
part :)

I don't have the file tikzlibrarycommute.code.tex on my machine
either. Anywhere. Not in the ConTeXt distribution nor in TeX Live.
That file was only posted to the mailing list by Idris and apparently
nobody ever looked at it or added it anywhere.

(It usually helps to provide a minimal example or a bit more context.
Just saying that something doesn't work is a bit more difficult to
debug.)

If you want to get this work out of the box, it would be super useful
to coordinate with the original author of tikz-cd to add support for
ConTeXt. And if any other patches are needed, we should try to
coordinate with upstream TikZ authors as well. I'm not sure what to do
with "&" though. We could theoretically add that file to the ConTeXt
distribution, but we'll then end up with other people asking why it
doesn't work in TeX Live and I certainly cannot afford to do
unauthorized changes to other TikZ files without getting a formal
approval that something is broken and without at least getting some
patch scheduled for approval by TikZ developers.

So if you want to get that working temporarily, it's probably best to
follow instructions in that email. If you want to get it fixed
properly, we should convince the authors to add support upstream. I
didn't look at the file(s) yet.

Mojca

PS: I have to add that I'm recently experiencing problems syncing with
upstream TikZ sources - CVS (this has been a problem for perhaps two
months or so).

If you will come (or have come) up with a nice style, it could be
added to the module for others.

It would appear that this problem is still the case, as of the

i'll fix it (more in tune with mkii as this is the old columns handler)

soon we will default to the mixedcolumns handler and the old mechanism
will become a module

Re: [NTG-context] Underlining formulas and units

2016-10-06 Thread Otared Kavian
Hi,

Maybe you should use rather

$\underbar{F_C=\unit{1e2 newton}}$ or \underbar{\unit{1e2 newton}}

since otherwise \underbar considers each character in the math formula as a
word, which should be underlined separately.

Best regards: OK

[NTG-context] fonts

2016-10-06 Thread Hans Hagen

Hi,

At the last context meeting it was decided that he groups will support
the upcoming stages of the tex gyre font project. The work is done by
the polish font gurus and so far they have been funded by the user
groups. However, this time not all groups join in, while still
substantial funding is needed for this stage that will run for several
years.

For a while there is already an entry for the project on:

https://www.tug.org/donate/dev.html

If you use the free math fonts you might consider donating there. After
all, we depend on these fonts and there is still work to do: adding
symbols to text fonts, a bold (heavy) companion for titling, a sans for
titling, a monospaced math font for editing and manuals, completion,
etc. The font folks have always delivered so donations will be well
spent. ConTeXt has always been the first to use these fonts and I sort
of assume that we will get these additions done as well, as it will make
our live so much easier.

It would appear that this problem is still the case, as of the
following version:

  $ context --version | sed -n 2p\;5p
  mtx-context | ConTeXt Process Management 0.63
  mtx-context | current version: 2016.09.24 12:40

In particular, Peter's example produces something like the following:
(I'm assuming these 90-character-plus-CRLF lines made it through the
Internet; if they did not make it, then someone's email-processing
software is non-conformant, so shame on him!)

   We thrive in information-thick worlds screen, pigeonhole, pick over,

   list, abstract, scan, look into, ideal- winnow the wheat from the
chaff   and
   ize, isolate, discriminate, distinguish, separate the sheep from the

However, a person whose thoughts are governed by reasonable logic might
instead expect the result to look more like this:

   We thrive in information-thick worldsscreen, pigeonhole, pick over, sort,
inte-
   because of our marvelous and every-grate, blend, inspect, filter, lump,

   list, abstract, scan, look into, ideal-winnow the wheat from the chaff
  and
   ize, isolate, discriminate, distinguish,separate the sheep from the goats.

The ConTeXt facilities in question are [mostly] defined here:

   "$TEXROOT"/texmf-context/tex/context/base/mkiv/page-mul.mkiv

After a not-so-cursory review, it seems to me that the problem is a
result of [probably erroneous] references [in various calculations]
to the `offset' parameter, which is presumably a vestigial growth
inherited from `\setupframed'.

Fortunately, meddling by this `offset' parameter can be explicitly
nullfied via including `offset=0pt' in the setup parameters for the
`\startcolumns' command; that is, in order to get the results that
Peter expected, modify Peter's example to be this:

--8<---cut here---start->8---
\starttext
\startcolumns[offset=0pt,distance=0pt]
\input tufte
\stopcolumns
\stoptext
--8<---cut here---end--->8---

If you now include `rule=on', then you get:

   We thrive in information-thick worlds|screen, pigeonhole, pick over,
sort, inte-
   because of our marvelous and every-|grate, blend, inspect, filter,
lump, skip,
   day capacity to select, edit, single|smooth, chunk, average,

   out, structure, highlight, group, pair,|cluster, aggregate, outline,

   choose, categorize, catalog, classify,|refine, enumerate, glean,
synopsize,
   list, abstract, scan, look into, ideal-|winnow the wheat from the
chaff   and
   ize, isolate, discriminate, distinguish,|separate the sheep from the
goats.

If you now replace `distance=0pt' with `distance=2ex', then you get the
following (I chose `2ex', so as to be able to represent the results more
accurately in plain text):

   We thrive in information-thick worlds | screen, pigeonhole, pick over,
sort, inte-
   because of our marvelous and every- | grate, blend, inspect, filter,

From a quick glance I'd say that this is a better start for me too. At
least I find my way through the code.

That would be really nice.

My design requirements are very simple but very different to the styles
I saw so far.

The only effect, I use, are bullet lists that appear step by step.

[NTG-context] marks on the first page only
