I also need to apologise for blaming ConTeXt for wrong stretching of included figures (I had some problems with figures in XeTeX in ConTeXt already before, so I falsely assumed that it was yet another one in the series). It turned out it has been a XeTeX bug, which popped up only for some very specific kind of pictures and only in xdvipdfmx ...
