RE: Outlook 2000 strangeness

2010-10-19 Thread David Minich
I have seen this occasionally. Not sure what is the cause, but deleting it
and deleting from trash as well and clears it up.

Ok, some of you may recall I posted recently about a user with Office 2000
Outlook where the messages would be sent, but stay in the "Outbox" until
manually deleted. Well, I have two more users who have that problem. I have
since updated two of the three to SP3, but when I went to update the third
(the original person having problems) I discovered he's already on SP3,
however he has Project 2003 and one other Office 2003 app installed. My
question is, since SP3 was *supposed* to fix the problem of messages
sticking in the Outbox on Office 2000, could the programs from Office 2003
be conflicting some how? Since I *just* finished upgrading the other two
machines to SP3, I don't know if it fixed the problem on them yet or not.

All machines in question are Windows XP Pro, SP3.

RE: SharePoint database

2009-06-08 Thread David Minich
That sounds good, I would like to look at that. I would need to migrate from
a legacy database to a new one. They are on the same server.

I've got some documentation on how to migrate the database from one server
to another which would effectively do what you're asking

IS there an easy way to have a server-initiated workstation restart? I've
got machines that need to reboot to finish the AVG update and short of
sending out a mass email or walking to each workstation and rebooting it
myself, I'm not sure how to do that..

RE: Access to site...

2008-02-18 Thread David Minich
Is DNS resolving correctly? I get:

http://216.54.207.48/ and
http://216.54.207.47/

I would try a different browser and see if you get same results. Also, does
someone outside network you are on get same results?

Appreciate all the responses... here's what I am experiencing...

When I try to go to the two sites below, I get Page Cannot be displayed...

When I try to hit Google.com, same results, Page cannot be displayed...

Our DNS servers are resolving fine.
Forwarders are good.
ISP says DNS there is good

So what the heck is going on?

Any advice appreciated other than "Run like Hell" that's not an option.

TIA

RE: Lost SBS Product Key

I got it figured out. I had to install a parallel system to a different
directory. I then used the Magic Jelly Bean beta program. It allows you to
point it at a different installation on the same drive and extract the
product id

After you get the system running with the alternate product ID, can't you do
just a system state restore with your backup software? It's often a
separate option. That should overwrite the temp key with your "real" key.

Then, of course, backup your key with magic jellybean for the "next time"
:-)

Problem is when we do a restore, it will not boot. We then have to do a
repair install. When doing that we are forced to enter a alternate product
id.
I am going to try restoring to a different machine and see if I can get in
and run magic jelly bean.

I was looking for possibly just restoring specific part of the system state
that would contain that info, but I do not know where that would be.

Isn't the product key part of the system state? Were you able to restore
the system state?

Lost SBS Product Key

2008-01-09 Thread David Minich
I have a client with a lost product key for Windows 2003 SBS. Their server
crashed. We were able to restore from backup, but had to use a different
product key to build a basic system in order to restore from backups. We
were hoping product key would be restored after recovery but it did not
change.

Does anyone know of a way to recover the product key from a backup?
