Is the Keyboard/Monitor/Mouse connected via a cluster device, like a Raritan, Compaq, APEX, or something similar? With wierd problems with Proliants, I use the erase utility and start from scratch using smartstart. This will recreate new system settings. I'm not sure, but I had a similar problem with a Proliant 6000, and the solution had something to do with resetting the NVRAM. You might want to look into this.
