John,
WOW64 is enabled by default it is an internal part of the OS.

But only on 64 bit versions of windows. (including 2003, XP, Vista, 7 and
2008)

WOW allows 32bit windows to run 16bit programs and

WOW64 allows 64bit Windows to run 32bit code

I bet you have a c:\program files (x86) folder

 

I bet you have a c:\windows\syswow64 folder

 

Both are culprits of WOW64

Just for the sake of paranoia, you could always download a 32bit portable app 
to a thumb drive and run that to verify

I am guessing your application manufacturer put that check in their 
documentation, when really it i�t necessary.

Yes. It cuts 25 man raid time down from 6 hours to 3 hours. Way more purple
