[nysbirds-l] kentucky..yes..and other critters
Around 11 25 this morning only 5 minutes after a birder/ biker had left i heard the bird south of the clearing and east of the big pudle. At the clearing i saw a light colored bat crawling up a bush 10 feet away..looked larger and lighter than a brown batany sugestions? Also a doe who s ears were covered with ticks.Im heading north to higher elevations so i wont be able to keep tabs on the bird. With hot weather the bird may frequent the small pudle before the bike path where last week before the rain we had the best looks while the bird defended the pudle...good luck.Dan Heglund -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --

[nysbirds-l] kentucky still there
Being hard of hearing iv used my walkers game ear to help locate the kentucky warbler at Rocky Point spot 26 the last few days. This morning i heard then saw the bird chase a redstart away and later a wood pee wee. I had great looks but was unable to get a look at the bird for the next hour. We have noticed the bird seems to defend this area.a small clearing on the left side rite before the next bike trail intersection. This being the first bike trail to the left south of the parking lot.the bird was seen at 10 30 today and yesterday was seen as close as the parking lot but seems to always return to the clearing..Dan Heglund..Rocky Point -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --

[nysbirds-l] late report sootys bridled terns shorham sod fields
Finaly got power back on to post this report. Yesterday i was able to get to the shoreham sod fields around 11 30.Immediatly i spotted a large group of birds hunkered down in a flooded section of the field.Holding the window scope still in the open field was tough but in the next 15 minutes or so with the help of a call to S.M. i was able to identify up to 5 bridled and 5 sooty terns.Numerous other terns and dozens of shorebirds were winging all over the place unfortunatly i wasn't able to identify but by there size and bill color were possible caspiens.Later my wife, Bob May and Joel Hormon returned and were able to still see 3bridled and 3 sootys before a perigrine scattered the birds. The terns never returned. This morning only the usual suspects plus 5 tvs drying there wings on the ground and a red fox that ran across the sod fields.Dan Heglund Rocky point -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/nysbirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
