[nysbirds-l] A Blast From the Past
Nice surprise Hugh. Last time I saw Andy we were knee deep in the quickening tide at Cupsogue. He once told me he'd moved back from Florida because there were too few sparrows. Go Andy Go! RE:[nysbirds-l] A blast from the past
Ned is an excellent writer and that was a joyful read. It was nice to see the names of Long Island birding luminaires in "print", all but Tom Davis I have had the pleasure of birding with. One name that should have been in that list, one I think that Shai would have mentioned but for obvious reasons did not, is Pat Lindsay. So, I gladly do so and I thank Pat, Shai, Tom, and the others for all the great birds you have found. Even though I did not see most of them, it was great fun to hear about them! Good birding! Andy had spoken with me about that day, but I wasn't aware of Ned's blog post. Lots to think about there. Re: [nysbirds-l] A blast from the past
Thanks for sharing Hugh! Very neat and I could relate to the adrenaline rush as I read Ned’s mad dash - if you want to call it that, to the scene of the fallout. I did not get to bird with the Andrew that long but he was one who inspired a personal quest to raise my game with Shorebirds. It is one regret not being able to bird more with the likes of him. A gregarious, care free spirit with the occasional raritis fever ;) Baldelli was a loss for us and a win for VA! Go Andy!!
