If it was a war (1960's), America lost after Vietnam War and flotation of USD to Gold. The Bretton Wood system disbanded in 1970's meaning the peg was lifted. Still, America chugs and left the rest of the world behind, economically. So did they lose when they close down Bretton Wood? yes, in the holy texts they only mention dinar (gold) and dirham (silver). not a single word of fulus (paper) i found. i waited eagerly when HSBC and BSM announced they would launched gold saving, but looks like some invisible hand banned this kind of saving. nonetheles, i faithfully begun stockpilling bullion and bought bond, reducing stock trading account and keeping the investment account. however, its hard to short the USD when your bank charge a hefty fee for withdrawing your own money. do you know that stockpiling gold is also banned in sharia? wealth should be put in circulation, creating more wealth and distribute the economy to the whole society. that's why they taxes gold saving above certain weight after a year. I think we have to start thinking about the different between Interest and Usury. Now the bank interest in the 1st world has reached a number of below 2% / annum Meanwhile the profit sharing system in shariah could reached a math number of 30% / deal Usury is the excessive charge of interest of loans Pls refer to Usury in wikipedia Considering the numbers above, dont you think we have to change our understanding?? ID govt must be very careful with intervention to the currency as we all know that since they signed up with ACFTA, Indonesia's trade surplus have been shrinking vs China (it means your import from China is much bigger than your export). If this continues, you may get trade deficits, and deficits may weaken your currency. (and may in return force me to sell bonds)* #3 About stock:... India has just having INFLATION on soft commodity sector (food), its ripple effect may pick up the palm oil demand. (Please elaborate from fundamental/technical pov). I think it should bring positive sentiment to the plantation sector (palm oil, corn, soybean) Embah, what do you think? Elaine* ** No choice. It depends on your govt action.* B0C.gif
