I did, it doesn't allow me to fill the bank number on your first PDF in a way
that displays nicely either.

I'll leave this open because it's a wish, and I also wish we had perfect
heuristics that allowed us to detect when something is supposed to be fillable,
but given humans sometimes even fail at that, we may never get it (and if we do
it'll be a level of IA close to Terminator, so careful with what we wish :D)

FWIW the easier solution for this is go back to whoever gave you those PDF and
ask them to create a better ones.

FWIW Adobe Reader on Windows can't render that file either, it's really broken.

Can it be rendered? possibly mupdf seems to do a relatively good job recovering
from the brokenness of the file.

Anyhow I am closing the bug because okular can't do anything here, if the file
were to be rendered better/recovered from its brokenness it would be poppler
(the component we use for rendering pdf files) responsability.

Please open a bug at
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/poppler/poppler/-/issues/new?issue and attach
both the broken and the original file and if the poppler developers feel this
is something they can fix/improve, they will.

Try following the steps, you will see that you can't do step 1 because that is
not something we have in KDE (I guess one could bother sysadmin about it, but
that's not scalable).

We are using discount for markdown rendering, you can see that the same
rendering happens when doing in a terminal

mkd2html list.md

and opening the resulting list.html in a web browser.

Please file a bug in https://github.com/Orc/discount once it is fixed there
(and your distribution updates the discount version) it will be automatically
fixed in okular.

Doing the testing on the tag creation may be a bit too late since we only
create the tag when the application is released, which means if the test finds
a regression, it's too late since we've already released.

But I guess as a start is not a bad thing, at least we'd know a regression
happened :D

Speaking of which, how would we know a regression happened? I understand the
pipeline would fail, but since "noone" is specifically looking at that
pipeline it would possibly be "lost"? Maybe we can get an email on the mailing
list? But I guess that's step #2.

Cheers,
  Albert

Potentially you built and run dbus which would make it work, but we don't ship
dbus with Okular because it's a bit messy.

One potential solution is to use https://github.com/KDAB/KDSingleApplication
instead of dbus stuff to make the "should i start myself or attach to another
app" logic.

Yeah, DocumentHasPassword implementation needs to be changed to something like
"did call to init had a non empty password variable"

If it crashes it's useful, but be careful redacting most of the times doesn't
really hide the text and tools like pdftotext can still extract it.

Also the "refreshInternalPageReferences failed" thing isn't great.

But without the file to be able to reproduce the issue this goes down quite a

This is a good point, if loading the PS directly gives a similar experience
than converting the PS to PDF on the fly, then my argument about people being
sad doesn't apply.

To be honest I have no idea if the functionality is similar, i don't think

No, would probably not be accepted, but that's not a fair question, because
the feature is here, potentially used by people (we should add kuserfeeddback
to have actual data about this) that will be sad that the feature is removed.
The fact that it can be done using the command line doesn't matter, we can't
ask regular users to use the command line, if we do that, we've lost.

There's also no need to fix it, the code has existed for 2 decades and AFAIK
there's no bug about any of those things you mention.
