thanks Ken. I have a TCI chassis now so i will need to tack a bolt onto the 
frame rail to button that down

Mike, If I understand what you're asking my 52 3100 has a fender brace from the 
rear fender opening which connects
to the underside of the frame rail about 3 in front of the rear spring hanger 
bracket. I will admit that my fenders are currently off for repair. However the 
3/8 hole I am referring to shows marking of something being bolted to it.

I've posted a picture of the rear underneath side of my fender and the brace 
you're referring to.  It's in my album that's entitled Ken's 50 3100.
