UP844 stopped here in Gilbert, AZ, November 2011. I was parked fairly close to it with my 1946 Plymouth Phantom Woodie. It was a beautiful sight; a 1944 locomotive with a 1946 automobile parked next to it. People took hundreds of photos of the two pieces of transportation history, parked next to each other. There are several You Tube videos of the event, UP844 in Gilbert, Arizona. I won't be in Nebraska until approximately September 26th. I am contemplating buying a 1962 Chevy Impala; just like the one I had, 1965-1973, on Craig's List, in Minnesota. I'll fly, one way, to Minnesota to visit my cousins, for a week, and pick up my Chevy, if I buy it. If I don't buy that car; I'll definitely buy some Chevy and resell it when I get back home. If I am able to sell RED RYDER; I may just keep the new road trip car. It looked like a random assortment of cars, and several were 4 doors that nobody wanted then or now. I have a 58 Chevy Fleetside pickup that I brought home to Kentucky from Omaha Nebraska to restore. I also own a 59 Chevy Stepside and a several muscle cars, that I brought with me when I took the job transfer from California to Kentucky. It was truly sad to see the roof caved in on the Cameo pickup. Hopefully it will sell for a realistic price and not some big money deal that is unrealistic in today's market.
