Hi Kang,

   The wiki
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/vCPE+Use+Case+Tutorial%3A+Design+and+Deploy+based+on+ONAP#vCPEUseCaseTutorial:DesignandDeploybasedonONAP-Downloadandmodifyautomationcode
 mentioned there should be image created before deploy vCPE usecase, and I
noticed there are multiple copies of the same image (e.g.
vbng-base-ubuntu-16-04)
 , each for dedicated openstack project. So is that the intention to keep them
dedicated to specific project, or we can make these image be shared across all
projects of the Integration lab?

Re: [onap-discuss] [modeling] Network Service Descriptor model

2018-08-21 Thread Chuyi Guo

Hello, Jessie,

  The Network Service model corresponds to the link is not only NSD, it
includes different classes, and has been discussed and voted in Service IM
call, I39m sorry you didn39t catch the call.

The current NS model is coordinated with the requirements of VF-C, not
simply copy the ETSI specifications. Since the scope of development plan for
C-release has been settled, other specific requirements should be proposed and
discussed in the later releases.

   As for the issues you mentioned, I think you are right about the
NsVirtualLink, the type of VirtualLinkDesc is NsVirtualLinkDesc.

   For 4 and 5, the details of Sapd, Vnffgd and etc., haven39t been discussed
yet, so is for VnfExtCp.

   From my understanding, ConnectivityType should be in the NsVirtualLinkDesc,
which hasn39t been put in the papyrus class diagram , I think it is the point
where should update.

BR,

Chuyi.

[modeling] Network Service Descriptor modelHi Xu- The link you refer to in
your email to Network Service (which I assume is Descriptor) is not a model
that is acceptable to me. I certainly don39t remember voting on this in R2.
Here are some of the reasons I personally cannot accept it:
1. There is no class diagram showing the relationships between entities, so I
don39t really know what concepts you are trying to model.
2. The relationship that should exist is between NSD and VirtualLinkDesc, and
not NsVirtualLink. The attribute in NSD called virtualLinkDesc (which should be
the endpoint of the association) is of type string. That is incorrect.
3. I believe you mean NsVirtualLink to VirtualLinkDesc, as the first attribute
is virtualLinkDescId.
4. Many of the attributes in NSD refer to types that are not defined in the
model (Sapd, Vnffgd, NsDf...)
5. Same comment above regarding NsVirtualLink. It contains types that are not
in your model, like SecurityParameters
6. ConnectivityType, as a datatype, has been moved to our Common model, which
we will need to define as part of our final resource IM in clean, and not a NSD
model. The benefit of putting datatypes like these in "Common" is that we
define them once, and then reference them from multiple models, like Resource
(where NSD lives) and VNF.
7. There is nothing in the model that refers to a VnfExtCp and its relationship
to NSD.

These are just some of the issues.
I believe a better approach is to take the NSD model defined that is based on
ETSI (that addresses the above issues) and pare it down to something
equivalent, if you want. I39d be happy to update the NSD model to show what it
would look like.

Thank you for joining today’s resource IM call and having the meaningful

My apologize for not allocating much time reviewing the NSD model, as M3 is
approaching, I think we need to trigger offline discussion to help accelerate
the progress.

The main issue I see for the NSD model is the scope for R3 documentation. The
current proposal from Jessie is based on IFA014 spec, while the model agreed
in R2 (https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/NetworkService) is only subset of the
spec. And whether we need to include PNFD model as part of the NSD model (like
ETSI does), and how we document the PNFD model in R3 remains a question.

My suggestion is we keep aligned with the previous agreement and implementation
in R3. Which means we only document the trimmed NSD in R3 and try to capture
the PNFD model which would be implemented by the SDC team.

Please share your opinions on this issue and let’s try to finalize the clean
model before the deadline, thanks.

Dear Modeling subcommittee

I would like sincerely nominate myself as a candidate of chair of modeling
subcommittee.

The goal of next year of modeling subcommittee needs to achieve the following
goals
1) The internal data model design based on consensus.
2) Resource information model design, especially align with Data model.
3) Service model design with help from Architecture committee and impacted
projects.
4) Infrastructure modeling design together with Multicloud in order to support
Azure, K8S, .. et al.
5) Support other model spec from other committees like close loop policy, data
collection VES .. et al.
6) Clarify more detail of the high level requirement together with use case
committee and impacted projects.

If I were elected, I would do my best to lead the group in taking the
following opportunities for modeling subcommittee
1) Since the market of NFV has already taken off, most of them are based on
SDOs, I would bring theirs experience into ONAP which could help ONAP become
more success.
2) There are many standard delegate's involvement at the moment, I would revise
some current process to better transfer SDO delegate's involvement into
productive deliverables for ONAP community.
3) I would like to establish more mutual communication and setup activities
with other SDOs like: ETSI NFV, TMF, MEF, ONF, IETF .. et al.

Subcommittee Membership Page
I have updated that page, adding a column for Company and a column that says
"Voting Member", and removing 3 individuals I know are no longer involved with
ONAP. One of them never even set up a wiki account.

The "Voting Member" column usage is simple. If you are the person from your
company that will be casting the vote, then put "Yes" in that column. If not,
leave it blank.

Who is eligible to Run: Subcommittee members of record (as per v118 of the wiki

2. Where can I find the certified csar package for voLTE use case used by

3. Is the on boarding of voLTE VNF Package same as vLB?

4. How the voLTE service instance creation done from VID ?

[onap-discuss] [cia] Container Image Minimization Guidelines

2018-08-21 Thread Adolfo Perez-Duran
Team,

I have reviewed your comments on the container images best practices. One
of the comments received during the review, and a issue that was
consistently brought up as a pain point in meetings with ONAP projects, is
the need for guidelines to minimize the size of container images.

Responding to that need, I have created a wiki page to capture and
socialize these guidelines.

https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Container+Image+Minimization+Guidelines

The guidelines are far from complete. They must be considered just a
starting point.

You can open the wiki page here

to contribute to enhancing (add missing suggestions, add examples, etc) the
guidelines.

Thanks,

Adolfo

[onap-discuss] #lfn #modeling [modeling] Subcommittee Chair/Vice Chair Poll #poll

2018-08-21 Thread Kenny Paul

A new poll has been created:

It has been suggested that the poll taken at last week's Modeling Subcommittee
meeting should be re-run similar to what is being done in groups.io for the Use
case Subcommittee.  The reason cited is that many folks at the meeting were
unfamiliar with using the raise-hand and chat functions in zoom.  I can
understand unfamiliarity with the raise-hand function as it has not been used a
great deal. However, I am dismayed by the prospect that anyone involved in
modeling one of the largest open source networking projects in the world would
not know how to type "+1" into a chat window.  Nonetheless, in the interest of
fairness I will put this poll out there. Modeling Subcommittee members please
respond before 2pm Pacific, Friday Aug. 24th.

Poll Question: How would you like to see the Chair elections handled?

(Note: there is no concept of a subcommittee Co-Chair in the Community Document
which is why that as an option is not included. How the Modeling Subcommittee
should chose to delegate responsibility with regards to an elected Chair and
Vice-Chair to perform the duties listed in Section 4.4.1.2 (
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/ONAP+Technical+Community+Document#ONAPTechnicalCommunityDocument-4.4.1.2SubcommitteeChair/ViceChair
 )  of the Community Document would basically up to the subcommittee)

Thanks!

Re: [onap-discuss] Complete details required - OANP to VNF via openstack

2018-08-21 Thread Michael O'Brien
Nice, thanks for including the community - I was planning on forwarding - your
message was in my queue.
We currently deploy on kubernetes via OOM, details are below.
If you are looking for HEAT (VM) deployment - this method is deprecated and
only used for testing.

See details and scripts on the official OOM RTD's pages
https://onap.readthedocs.io/en/latest/submodules/oom.git/docs/oom_quickstart_guide.html
There are several (4) scripts to get your kubernetes system up either via fully
automated scripts below or via embedded scripts in RTD above.
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Cloud+Native+Deployment
https://git.onap.org/logging-analytics/tree/deploy
https://git.onap.org/integration/tree/deployment/Azure_ARM_Template
https://git.onap.org/integration/tree/deployment/heat/onap-oom

For resource requirements - there are several pages like a cost structure one
for AWS - it needs updating
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/ONAP+Deployment+Specification+for+Finance+and+Operations#ONAPDeploymentSpecificationforFinanceandOperations-HardwareProfile
 - essentially you will need 96-128G of ram distributed among 3-9 VMs to handle
the 172+ containers - ideally with a minimum total of 16 vCores (you will peak
at 55 on startup), a 1+ Gbps pipe to get all the docker images, an NFS share
that handles >5Gb and 80-100G HD (peaks at 4Gbps) per VM in your cluster. I
would keep the master VM separate from the cluster VMs where your pods will run
- helm is installed only on the master.

Helm was just upgraded
https://lists.onap.org/g/onap-discuss/topic/oom_integration_helm/24628483?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate%2Fsticky,,,20,2,20,24628483
For VNFs - I only have experience with the vFW which runs less than an extra
16g - specific to openstack (these are still VM/Heat orchestrated and are not
containerized yet like the ONAP system itself)

Community will add to this discussion.

Thank you
/michael

Hi Michael,

[ Need details from Scratch]: It's my humble request to please guide for the
complete thing.

This mail is regarding ONAP integration with openstack and VNF.

I am looking for the right set of links for the integration.

On one of the machine - ONAP sits.

On other machine - openstack sits. Openstack we have installed via kubernetes.

On the same/other machine - VNF sits.

Now, I need those clear links/videos, which will lead to the integration of
ONAP with openstack and NVF.

Note : The reason why I have mentioned the above setup is : When I was watching
onap videos, I noticed that in openstack, ONAP modules are created as VM's.
This creates confusion for us. We are following the above mentioned approach.

Also, how much total memory is required for the complete integration and
lifecycle mgmt. of ONAP with VNF ?

Request you to please guide for the same!

Best Regards,

Shubhra

Re: [onap-discuss] [MULTICLOUD] - HPA telemetry

2018-08-21 Thread Srini
Hi Bin,

I am travelling. Eric confirmed and he will talk about the feature and high
level design. If time permits, Dileep can show the A&AI schema proposal.

Hi Ramki and Raghu,
Since it is born out of Edge-automation working group, it would be good if you
can attend the meeting.

Thanks
Srini

Before I can suggest, I would like to understand this feature more.
Would someone please present the idea/design to MultiCloud team? Perhaps it's
a good chance to do that during the upcoming MultiCloud weekly meeting.

Thanks

There would some source code development (We call it - HPA Telemetry receiving

There would be some additional development with respect rules for Prometheus

Well, I don't think this approach gets us very far forward. There's no
advantage in hosting our own Ubuntu 16.04 as opposed to the official one.
The issue I am trying to solve in my proposal is to allow a choice of base
images to be used, and also to have them be unified across ONAP. So rather
than the base image being "ubuntu-lts" it would be "onap-base" (with a few
different tagged flavors), which could be customized as appropriate.

Again, I don't think "simplicity" is the main goal here. Simple is nicer,
but if it works, it works. The serious problem, as I see it, is that an
operator likely does not have support contracts for 15 different JDKs and
several different vendored operating systems.

That's an intriguing (and scary) number! Can you share with us how you
derived it? It would be useful for tracking our progress.

Re: [onap-discuss] [modeling] #modeling Modeling Subcommittee Elections Call for Self-Nominations

2018-08-21 Thread Andy Mayer
Dear ONAP Modeling Subcommittee Members,

I would like to formally self-nominate myself for consideration as a candidate
for serving the ONAP community as the Chair of the ONAP Modeling Sub-Committee.

I feel that taking on a leadership role in our ONAP Modeling Sub-Committee will
help promote ONAP collaboration in many areas including architecture,
information modeling, data modeling, and API definition with a focus on driving
towards the vision of a model driven ONAP supporting uses cases, and consistent
API definition.

I would like our Sub-committee to evolve in the following ways:
• Better document and follow a consistent process for collaborative modeling
with early and regular involvement of ONAP component stakeholders.
• Seek earlier and more comprehensive community review, model approval and
change control.
• Collaborate better with the architecture team on model-driven software
architecture evolution.

In addition, I believe that our Sub-committee should work together with the
broader set of industry SDO communities, including ETSI, TM Forum, MEF, ONF,
and others.

I have been involved with ONAP since its inception, and served as the Project
Team Lead of ONAP’s External API Framework Project, and sub-lead of the VNF SDK
Package Modeling team. Also, in MEF I currently serve as Co-Lead of MEF’s LSO
Reference Architecture Phase 2 Project, and served as MEF’s Chief Architect for
LSO, and was the main author of MEF 55 as well as many other MEF technical
specifications.

I am part of the Network Cloud and Infrastructure team at AT&T Labs where I am
focused on end-to-end information integration for orchestration. Before joining
AT&T Labs in 2016, I was with Applied Communication Sciences (formerly
Telcordia / Bellcore) for nearly 30 years. I am also considered a leading
expert and trusted adviser in service orchestration, network management,
information modeling, and policy based management for connectivity data
services and advanced technologies, including SDN and NFV.

I hold a BS from Purdue University, as well as a MS and Ph.D. from Stevens
Institute of Technology.

Thank you for your consideration,
Andy

Call for Self-Nominations

As per Subcommittee Chair
Elections
 I am officially opening the self-nomination period for the Modeling
Subcommittee Chair elections.
The nomination period will end on Friday, Aug 24 @ 2:00 Pm Pacific

The members eligible to be a voting member is set to V118 of the Modeling
Subcommittee Membership Page
I have updated that page, adding a column for Company and a column that says
"Voting Member", and removing 3 individuals I know are no longer involved with
ONAP. One of them never even set up a wiki account.

The "Voting Member" column usage is simple. If you are the person from your
company that will be casting the vote, then put "Yes" in that column. If not,
leave it blank.

Who is eligible to Run: Subcommittee members of record (as per v118 of the wiki
page)

Who is eligible to Vote: Subcommittee members of record (as per v118 of the
wiki page) AND as controlled within the context of Section
4.4.1.4
 of the Community Document

Process:

Self-Nomination Phase
When appropriate a call for nominations will be sent by the LF to the
appropriate distribution list, using the subcommittee's specific email tag.
Individuals interested in running for the Subcommittee Chair position must
reply-all to that email with your intention to run. It is recommended that
candidates include a biography and statement of intent on why you would be a
good person to hold this position.

Re: [onap-discuss] How to build aai-resources and aai-traversal docker images and push to local docker repository? #aai #docker

2018-08-21 Thread Venkata Harish K Kajur
Hi Keong,

When you are running the traversal image, can you add this flag -e
DISABLE_UPDATE_QUERY=true and then run the container.
Then you shouldn't see any issues with trying to run the built docker images.
The updateQueryData shell script is responsible for creating widgets in AAI but
it needs the haproxy to be up in order to successfully work.
The code was changed to handle this scenario a little differently in heat and
oom so that’s why this code was there.
Later, we had this script disabled in both oom and heat and ensured but left it
out.

Here is a jira task for cleaning it up.

https://jira.onap.org/browse/AAI-1529

Also, are you just trying to start the traversal microservice locally or
planning to deploy all of AAI locally?
If you are planning to just do a simple test, then in resources, you will need
to run this command to start locally.

mvn -pl aai-resources -PrunAjsc

Traversal:

mvn -pl aai-traversal -PrunAjsc

If you are planning to deploy all of AAI locally, then please follow this
tutorial.

Hi Harish,

I ran that mvn command to build the docker images in aai/resources and
aai/traversal and both seemed to give BUILD SUCCESS.
However, when I run those containers, there are errors in the logs. Both
containers give:

===
chown: cannot access '/var/chef': No such file or directory ===

The aai-traversal container has lots of these logs:

===
tee: /opt/app/aai-traversal/logs/misc/updateQueryData.sh.log.2018-08-20: No
such file or directory Begin putTool for widget action-1.0.json
/opt/app/aai-traversal/bin/install/updateQueryData.sh[52]:

updateQueryData.sh: failed for
service-design-and-creation/models/model/af593b4b-490e-4665-ad74-2f6351c0a7ce
/opt/app/aai-traversal/resources/etc/scriptdata/widget-model-json/action-1.0.json
 on cmd 1 ===

Do I need to build more components? Or install more software?

Thanks,

Hi Prakash,

 You can find the volte sample VNF(vSBC) at here:
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Data+Model+Interest+Group+2018-06-04+Meeting+Minutes.
 Remember change the extension into .csar. This VNF also used in volte usecase
and you could onboard this vnf package on SDC.
 Basically, VoLTE usecase use UUI(usecase ui) to do the service LCM
operation. I think this link could help you :

Re: [onap-discuss] [policy][holmes]CCVPN CL Event

2018-08-21 Thread Xin Miao
One way of addressing this is that in case like this we may ‘provision’
(instead of hard coding) or modeling the policy triggering in a way that
analytics or correlation component in general can publish multiple events
driven by the output of the AAI loop up/query to DMAAP to trigger policy
multiple times one time per service instance.

This could lead to CL requirement that supports any future use cases that one
alarm from lower layer may affect multiple services at higher layer, i. e,
one CL multiple service instances cases.

Some thoughts.

I will not entertain such drastic change which will endanger the use cases that
the Policy team did commit to.

The point of the CL event is to identify the SINGLE VM or VNF that is having
issues. The Operational Policies express what services/vms/vnfs are going to be
taken action upon, not the CL event.

There are many other reasons which I will not go into on this thread.

This really changes the json data format.
If we do it this way, the CL event for previous use cases will have to update
their documents on CL event description at least.

Subject: [policy][holmes]CCVPN CL Event
Time: 2018-08-20 19:30:00

Hi Pam,

I'm working with the CCVPN team to complete the control loop for the CCVPN use
case. It requires Policy to perform some operations on three service instances.
In this case, how do we put three instances into the CL event in order that
Policy could digest it?

In the VoLTE use case, the CL event is like this:
{
"closedLoopEventClient": "DCAE.HolmesInstance",
"policyVersion": "1.0.0.5",
"policyName": "vVOLTE",
"policyScope":
"resource=volte,service=VolteSErvice,type=SampleType,closedLoopControlName=CL-VOLTE-SIG-d925ed73-8231-4d02-9545-db4e101f88f8",
"target_type": "VM",
"AAI": {
"vserver.vserver-name": "dfw1lb01lb01",
"service-instance.service-instance-id" : "TBD",
"generic-vnf.vnf-id" : "TBD",
"generic-vnf.vnf-name" : "TBD"
},
"closedLoopAlarmStart": 1484677482204798,
"closedLoopEventStatus": "ONSET",
"closedLoopControlName":
"ControlLoop-VOLTE-2179b738-fd36-4843-a71a-a8c24c70c55b",
"version": "1.0.2",
"target": "vserver.vserver-name",
"requestID": "97964e10-686e-4790-8c45-bdfa61df770f",
"from": "DCAE"
}

Can we use the similar data format, changing only the "AAI" filed from a JSON
object to a JSON array:
{
"closedLoopEventClient": "DCAE.HolmesInstance",
"policyVersion": "1.0.0.5",
"policyName": "CCVPN",
"policyScope":
"service=SOTNService,type=SampleType,closedLoopControlName=CL-CCVPN-d925ed73-8231-4d02-9545-db4e101f88f8",
"target_type": "VM",
"AAI": [
{
"service-instance.service-instance-id" : "service-instance-1",
...
},
{
"service-instance.service-instance-id" : "service-instance-2",
...
},
{
"service-instance.service-instance-id" : "service-instance-2",
...
}
],
"closedLoopAlarmStart": 1484677482204798,
"closedLoopEventStatus": "ONSET",
"closedLoopControlName":
"ControlLoop-CCVPN-2179b738-fd36-4843-a71a-a8c24c70c55b",
"version": "1.0.2",
"target": "vserver.vserver-name",
"requestID": "97964e10-686e-4790-8c45-bdfa61df770f",
"from": "DCAE"
}

If the answer is negative, how could we achieve our goal?

Best Regards,
Guagnrong

Hi, Pam,

We are modifying drools-applications code to support CCVPN closed loop with new
SO recipes.

What will be the best way for us to conduct our unit or module test? Is there
any instruction or wiki page that we can follow?

Abatement is optional C but you should specify that in the policy so the
policy enforcement knows to not wait for it.

We know that sometimes it is difficult in the DCAE side to determine if an
abatement has happened, thus we enabled that option in the Policy Operational
YAML specification.

Just be sure that we don’t get subsequent ONSET’s after we have done all the SO
work. If that is not possible then utilize a Frequency Limiter Guard policy as
a last resort to prevent the whole process from being initiated immediately
after it was done. I would test and develop everything first, see how the
system works before going down that route.

Hi, Pam,

For CCVPN Closed loop phase 1 runtime test step below. Do the last 3 steps
have to be there? Or, these Abated steps/events processing are optional?

Subject: CL Test Steps for Phase 1

Hi, Rama/Vidya,
The following are the closed loop test steps at runtime:

  * Link between TP1 from site A and TP2 from site B is brought down
  * ACTN from site A sends TP1 Status ‘down’ notification to Restconf
collector and publishes corresponding json notification to DMAAP
  * ACTN from site B sends TP2 Status ‘down’ notification to the same
Restconf collector and publishes corresponding json notification to DMAAP
  * Both of the notifications are consumed by VES Mapper and converted to VES
Fault_Route_Status events.
  * Holmes receives the two events
  * Holmes does correlation of the two events and generate one signature
event and sends it to Policy
  * Policy triggers operational policy and healing action is sent to SO
  * SO deletes the associated 3 service instances.
  * SO recreates these 3 service instances again over a new link between TP3
and TP4 across site A and site B
Need to decide about if the following steps has to be done at the closed loop:
 (may not be necessary ??)

  * Service ‘up’ notifications are sent from ACTN when service is recovered.
  * Holmes does the event correlation and sends Clear signature event to
Policy
  * Policy stops the healing action

Thank you and best regards,

Re: [onap-discuss] [integration] [VNFSDK] Creating a TEST VNF

2018-08-21 Thread Santiago
Hi all,

this is just what i was looking for!!!

After some weeks configuring the ONAP platform in my local environment,
it's time to test it but the vFW onboarding process is a not simple task:
- robot's k8s-demo fails for me because my quuens openstack installation
changed the keystone API
- I was trying manually with
https://wiki.onap.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=1018474, but uses an old
version of SDC that does not match with mine (beijing)

What is the status of this "test VNF" task?
Is there any recent related documentation about how to test the platform
with a simply VNF?
@Andrew, is your dummy VNF available?

Thanks,
Santiago

Subject: LAB Upgrade Progress - POD-ONAP-01

Hello,

Over the last 3 days 8 of the 13 compute nodes in the integration lab have been
upgraded to PIKE. The plan for the remaining 5 nodes was to upgrade one a day
to minimize the removal of resources from the lab during the work week.
However some nova commands associated with adding or modifying configurations
are blocked while upgrades are in process. The daily staging stacks need at
least of these locked commands. Because of this we will complete the upgrades
for the 5 remaining nodes in the next few hours. This will cause a resource
constraint during this time.

I'll send out an update when the upgrade is complete, and the resources are
back on line.

Br,
- Stephen
