Hi, yes, typo. I fixed. it.

I see, it’s based on my deployment. It used only m1.large flavor, which have 8
vCPU, 16G RAM and 160G storage.

So based on what you just told me, here are the new accurate requirements:

HEAT

  *   29 VM
  *   148 vCPU
  *   336 GB RAM
  *   3 TB Storage
  *   29 floating IP addresses

OOM

  *   17 VM
  *   54 vCPU
  *   156 GB RAM
  *   1020 GB Storage
  *   15 floating IP addresses

DCAE itself

  *   15 VM
  *   44 vCPU
  *   88 GB RAM
  *   880 GB Storage
  *   15 floating IP addresses

Thanks,

Alexis

Alexis,

The 2GB RAM for DCAE is probably a typo?

Not sure what VM flavors you use in your deployment. Among the 15 DCAE VMs, 7
(CDAP/Hadoop cluster) need to be m1.large size (4 vCPU, 8G RAM, 80G storage)
and the rest are m1.medium size (2 vCPUs, 4G RAM, 40G storage).

So the total should be 44 vCPUs, 88G RAM, and 880G disk. The actual usage of
disk is much smaller. So if there were a flavor supporting smaller disks (e.g.
20% of current values), the disk usage can be smaller.

FYI, I’ve just made the comparison with the HEAT requirements. The footprint
for OOM is slightly smaller, but actually, it’s more than 80% DCAE’s footprint.

HEAT

  *   29 VM
  *   148 vCPU
  *   336 GB RAM
  *   3 TB Storage
  *   29 floating IP addresses

OOM

  *   17 VM
  *   123 vCPU
  *   294 GB RAM
  *   2300 TB Storage
  *   15 floating IP addresses

DCAE itself

  *   15 VM
  *   113 vCPU
  *   2 GB RAM
  *   2300 TB Storage
  *   15 floating IP addresses

Hope it helps,

Alexis

Happy new year ,

I had couple of questions

a- about what is the Clean requirement for OOM in terms of Memory /vCPU if the
closed loop demo needs to be attempted implying DCAE also to be part of .

AdT:

- 1 VM for rancher: 2 vCPU - 4 GO RAM - 40 GO disk

- 1 VM for ONAP - 8 vCPUS - 64 GO RAM - 100 GO disk - 16 GO swap (I added some
swap because in ONAP, most of the app are not always active, most of them are
idle, so it's fine to let the host store dirty page in the swap memory.)

- 14 VMs for DCAE - 130 vCPUS - 300 GO RAM - 1.5 TO disk (note: this it’s based
on memory, I just torn down my setup, and I don’t recall well)

b - How many VM if we were to use Rancher based OOM Setup .

AdT: As specified above, only one VM for Rancher.

c - what is the release I should be using if I were toinstall amsterdam
mainteance release .

AdT: OOM amsterdam branch. Note: DCAE isn’t yet merged.

thanks

AdT: I’m not sure to understand the issue been raised here. Can you clarify?

[Gaurav ] - I think I have some issues with kubectl setup so if some one has
attempted the kubectl installation and faced similar issues and resolved them ,
It will help me as well .
This is needed so that OOM based deployment can be done and health check
scripts refers to kubectl commands .

issue 2 - We pulled 2 esr dockers manually inside our OOM deployment . However
the new dockers are not getting listed in kubectl commands . So, essentially
these containers dont have any specific IP address attached to them along with
the port.

  questions
 - Are we missing something - I mean is this even valid
operation in OOM ?  .

AdT: Pulling docker images and starting them will not make them appear in
Kubernetes UI. For that, you need to create Kubernetes manifests defining the
deployment, e.g. how the docker container should looks like (port, entrypoint,
volume, pre-conditions, …) and the service, exposing the ports defined in the
deployment to the external world (when using NodePort).

[Gaurav ] - The use case is - we had OOM Deployement done with few dockers ,
But we wanted to pull 2 more dockers i.e esr and esr gui . We did pull the
dockers from nexsus repo but we donot see them getting listed in the kubectl
list --namespaces .Due to this we are also assuming that No Port /IP Address is
getting assigned to those .
Can this use work or we have to do a complete OOM Deployment fresh ? .

 -is there anything else that we should be doing in this
situation ? .

thanks in advance

with best regards
gaurav

We had the same issue and followed your suggestion and were ok . thanks for
the same

Aparently have you tried < running curl command > in isolation and did you
observe your download speed of pulling docker-compose.yml .We have noticed that
everytime it drops to "zero" or low values . there are issues in pulling
docker-compose.yml file completely . We tried it 2-3 times and we see same
behaviour .

We are trying to establish where and why is this coming from .

Is this due to -- Load on the Server where docker-compose.yml residing being
High ?>  or

 or Big file size plays a Role ? or there is something in the infrastructure
and environment that is causing this intermittent behaviour . .

Subject: [onap-discuss] Failed demo install using "openstack vanilla" heat
template

Hi,

I am using the openstack vanilla heat templates [1] to bring up an ONAP demo
stack using Vexxhost. The stack comes up just fine, but the portal doesn't
appear to install correctly. When I run the portal_install.sh script manually,
I get the following errors:

-

+ /opt/docker/docker-compose down

ERROR: The Compose file './docker-compose.yml' is invalid because:

Unsupported config option for services.portal-db: 'healthcheck'

services.portal-wms.depends_on contains an invalid type, it should be an array

+ /opt/docker/docker-compose up -d

ERROR: The Compose file './docker-compose.yml' is invalid because:

Unsupported config option for services.portal-db: 'healthcheck'

services.portal-wms.depends_on contains an invalid type, it should be an array

services.portal-apps.depends_on contains an invalid type, it should be an array

-

This docker bug [2] implies that I should specify version 2.1 of docker compose
for the portal, but that's already done. However, using version 1.16.1 of
docker-compose instead of 1.9 seems to fix the problem.

Is anyone else seeing these errors? Is the openstack vanilla heat template
known to be currently working, or am I doing something weird?

Thanks heaps,
Michael

in ONAP 1.1 we see that Number of health test have been increased to 23 . what
is the minimum number of health test and which healthtest be passed before vFW

[onap-discuss] sonar Test cases writing in vesagent/test and issues faced while compling

2017-10-04 Thread Gaurav Gupta (c)
Hi There

we are facing some issues while trying to run our sonar test cases at the time
of compiling .

This is what we did - we referred the Test File present in
/collector/ves/src/test/java/org/onap/dcae/vastest

While Compiling our Code using mvn clean install we are getting errors of
unable to find the junit and Json packages .

We some how are not able to find out - where and what to set to get this going .

Aparently VESCollector in the same user build Environment is working fine . Any
clue provided will be Highly appreciated .

Thanks

Congrats and this is interesting .

Looks Like we are sailing in the same boat and I thought it would be better to
share the notes w.r.t to ONAP on VIO deployment so far .

We would like to know if you have faced these issues and if there is something
we are missing in our environment that should be setup right for DCAE that too
DCAEGen-1

· We got Public-ip and private-ip are NULL and VM state is OPERATIONAL
for DCAE-Controller VM.

· Robot health check status 9/10 , only DCAE health check failed with
error “Resolving variable '${resp.json()}' failed: JSONDecodeError: Expecting
value: line 1 column 1 (char 0)”
This error slightly different from the error mentioned on
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/ONAP+master+branch+Stabilization that is
:Health check failed {u'service': u'cdap-helloworld', u'instance': u'iad4',
u'status': u'UNDEPLOYED', u'healthTestStatus': u'YELLOW',
u'healthTestMessageCode': u'Cluster not deployed'}”

 We are trying to deploy ONAP on VIO. Using the following YAML:
https://gerrit.onap.org/r/gitweb?p=demo.git;a=blob;f=heat/OpenECOMP/onap_openstack_float.yaml;h=659f94c93b9c5dfae02031ddcae82161ce927318;hb=refs/heads/master

We have been successfully deploy all 5 DCAE additional VM's and their dockers.
To check the status of DCAE deployment we executed DCAEDebug.sh (attached) and
we found some error with POSTGRES VM.

Hi,

I am trying to setup closed loop using vFW demo with openstack as VIM. I am
setting up DCAE 1.1 version and maintaining other components in release-1.0.0
version. But while setting DCAE 1.1 I am facing the following error.

Seems like the error raised from the line

 I couldn't understand what is happening in the groovy script.
Finally DCAE-C-Container logs as below:

Anyone faced the above issue, any help would be much appreciated.

Yoav , Kang Xi

if the below two are not goal

a.1- If performance or latency on VxLAN is not being monitored and not the
goal for individual  vCPE

a.2 - Also if multiple Instances of vCPE existing at the same time is not to
be supported

Then whether vCPE is deployed across multiple DC or single DC it makes no
difference .Hence I would agree to what is described below .

Kang, all,

Sorry could not attend the meeting (which collided with the ARC meeting).

I would propose to not view the connectivity between clouds as a problem, or
use case, ONAP needs to solve. Service provides who have deployed multiple
clouds have typically also established connectivity between them, in most cases
via some type of a L2 VPN. When ONAP instantiates VNFs there is an assumption
that it can then communicate with them, e.g. for configuration or closed loop
operations, over an OAM overlay network. We do not bother showing how this OAM
network is routed, and in particular how SDNC, as an example, can communicate
with a VNF which happens to be instantiated in a remote DC. We assume whatever
underlay is need is in place which allows communicating with all VNFs over the
one OAM network.

Similarly, if two VNFs are assumed to communicate over regular IP networking
(not to be confused with service chaining), then, without loss of generality,
we can showcase them in one DC, assuming that if in real life they were to be
instantiated in two DCs, then the inter-dc connectivity already in place would
enable them to communicate just as well.

The other alternative would be that we would have to showcase each VNF in a
separate DC – to “make sure” the use case works under any deployment scenario.
This obviously does not make sense, and fortunately is also not needed for the
reasons sated above.

I would therefore submit that the vCPE use case, which instantiates all its
VNFs in a single DC, is sufficient to showcase ONAP’s capability to instantiate
and manage a vCPE use case under any deployment.

Thanks,

Hi All,

During the meeting “[integration] vCPE for R1: Support multiple clouds or not?”
(Aug. 8 11:00-11:25am EST), the attendees unanimously concluded to leave the
support for multiple clouds to the next release. For R1, the release
implementation will only target a single cloud set up.

The rationale behind the above conclusion is that multi-cloud support, while
technically feasible, would need quite some discussions to decide on multiple
issues including lab set up, network set up, work flow design, etc. Adding it
to R1 would further tighten the R1 schedule.

The list of attendees is shown below:

[onap-discuss] NetConf Mount from Appc towards SDNC

2017-07-21 Thread Gaurav Gupta (c)
Hello Brian

I have been looking for the need of why there is a need for creating NetConf
Mount in APPC from SDNC in demo workflow . Is there any reason for the same ?.

https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Automatically+Creating+a+Netconf+Mount+in+APPC+from+SDNC

For example for vFW following are my question

 1 -When is this netConf Mount is needed , because as far as I know everything
about VNF gets created by MSO using Openstack Heat API .

2. Is is part of VNF creation process or part of traffic generation .

or there is something subtle I am missing . Pls help to clarify

Dave,

   Good question. It would be good to have some metadata on 1.0-only, 1.0/R1,
R1-only state of each repo. I posed a similar question in the past specific to
how we are handling 1.0.0 era repos and the new R1 repos. I also am under the
impression there will be no 1.1.0 release of 1.1.0-SNAPSHOT (current master) –
just an R1.

   Cases are

1.0   repos deprecated (like dcae?)

1.0 repos repurposed for R1 (like sdc)

R1 new repos (like dcaegen2 and sdc-tosca)

  I usually use the new projects page to get the R1 list (on each dated subpage
like 5/11/17) and any listed repo not on each project page is likely a 1.0 only
repo. However some of the pages are not updated in sync with gerrit (for
example SDC has a lot of new repos not yet listed in the wiki) – in that case
you will need an old copy of the root pom.xml to filter out 1.0 repos. However
if repos like SDC that live in both the old 1.0 and R1 environments are not
backwards compatible perhaps we just need a list of deprecated 1.0 repos to
exclude from cloning.

https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Approved+Projects

I propose we make a new or conditional root pom.xml so we can build either
1.0 or R1 and not get compile failures across the releases.

Or publish a list of deprecated repos and assume everything else is R1
current.

Before R1 the list of repos for 1.0/1.1.0-SNAPSHOT (up to May) for a clean
build was

Tutorial: Verifying and Observing a deployed Service
...
wiki.onap.org
Yes, operations 25/26 where we preload the VF Module are currently done by the
robot framework outside of VID (although prior to the SDNC call - robot runs a
rest ...

We had below understanding , the long term goal of ONAP is to allow to create
VF from MSO using Adapters towards SDNC and APPC .
For Infrastructure related to Compute Resource - MSO uses PO .
For Network infrastructure such as ( ethernet port , VLAN , Subnet , Network)
MSO will use sdnc-adapter towards SDNC .
For Application of the VNF For example Firewall function in vFW . MSO will
interact with APPC to create the firewall application.
once VNF creation is done - How the DCAE comes into play ? what will be the
trigger for DCAE to start Event/Alarm Monitoring and Analytics and remedial
action .
At present MSO interacts with Openstack directly for Compute , Network and
Volume VF Creation using Heat API .
Following are our questions -
a1- What is the superset of VF definition For Network. is this consists of only
 ethernet Port , VLAN ,Subnet, Network or there are addition to above list ? .
 a2- what is the VF Definition for APPC For use cases -vFW , vCPE , vIMS ,
VoLTE
answers to these questions will help provide the API definition needed from
the various Cloud Platform Provider .

Hi Manoj,

Yes NB API’s defined are for Network instance creation which includes resources
in AA

Yes if you will go through DG’s you will find that depending upon actions
provided like assign/reserve/allocate/activate, DG flow behaves differently.

From DG we can communicate to AA or any other southbound system using
adaptors.

Above comments are for sdnc.

vnfapi/src/main/xml/VNF-API_preload-network-topology-operation.xml , I think
this is meant to reserve resources from network . So this may lead to a call to
AAI for resource reservation. Can you confirm this is the flow you meant below
as answer to #1 which can be alternately used instead of what is done currently
by MSO workflow (for resource allocation/reservation in A)

I think #3 below is for Service Function Chain. While ODL supports SFC through
the SFC project, not sure if this is completely leveraged in ONAP. Also in ODL
SFC most of the use cases involves working with VIM (say openstack) to map the
networking-sfc port pairs in to ODL. In the DG supported node types, maybe we
need to leverage multiple “configure“ DG node to set configuration in multiple
hops (vnf-instance operation or network-topology-operation), or use native SFC
project in ODL. May be some experts in DG can clarify this.

Cipher,

I believe SDNC is not getting used to its full capacity in the demo. The
workflow getting used in MSO is having one of the step as preloading the data.

Because of which SDNC is getting used to get all the ips for the heat file.In
the demo . In complex scenarios SDNC can play a vital role to create resources
,updating AAI and many more.

In the demo not such action taking place. MSO is doing everything.

Someone from SDNC can explain it better.

I didn’t use the ./demo.sh appc directly but this is needed at the time of
closed loop . When APPC controls the traffic with the help of vnf action
“ModifyConfig”.

If the mounting is not done ModifyConfig will not be successful. If you have
different VNF then in that also we need honeycomb to make modifyConfig
successful.

Not sure about your third query. What is SFC ?

Hey,

I am trying vFirewall demo using ONAP. Along the way I am trying to understand

points.

1) Preloading of data: Before deploying Vf-module, we have to preload the data
to SDNC. But in one of the comments, I came to know this step to update AAI
indirectly through SDNC. If that's true, then what is the role of SDNC here.
How can I make use of SDNC in complex usecases.

2) APP-C Mounting: Why we need to ./demo.sh appc to trigger the action in
packet generator. If I am using a different VNF, how can I use ./demo.sh ?

3)In the release-1.0.0 can we have support of SFC in SDNC?

Gaurav,
   Hi, good question, we had the same questions about the OOTB docker
architecture – it looks like there is a mix of docker-compose (VID, SDC, MSO
and APPC for example) and raw docker run orchestration. A evolving low level
view of the 1.0 system (1 instead of 2 AAI VMs) is in a diagram below.

https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Overall+Deployment+Architecture#OverallDeploymentArchitecture-Version1.0.0<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__wiki.onap.org_display_DW_Overall-2BDeployment-2BArchitecture-23OverallDeploymentArchitecture-2DVersion1.0.0=DwMFAg=uilaK90D4TOVoH58JNXRgQ=ebJjFMpXijqZjbZCcbF7yJIq2ES6jM0Q-DEcP-qjjeI=RO_vjZHrwgAWBOm1TgFt_Vy1ZXZZS4qnOmOVSw6zt1I=EPuwfPlS1-3T4ZcyJBMlF5GOT89yXZfjtAbIogZJa6A=>

   Essentially any microservice (docker container) that does not need to expose
a port – should be able to communicate on its vm via it’s docker private
network – usually this is setup in compose. For others that expose the DB
directly like MSO, SDNC or APPC the mariaDB 3306 is mapped as well to 32768
outside.
   Also note that not everything is containerized yet – some jars run directly
on their VM – this is specific to 4 of the 5 zld* VMs of DCAE.

I believe that flow of calls is correct with the exception of I don’t think
they call the contrail method all the time. The bpmn flow either creates a
vanilla neutron network or a contrail neutron newwork, I think you have both in
one flow. Adding in a MultiVIM layer is one of the R1 goals, and right now
there is only direct calls to openstack.

Hi,

I just discussed this with Andy at LF.

As we speak Nexus is supporting both org.openecomp and org.onap. So there is no
urgency to make the shift.

As we have so many other things to do, we may wait until M2 to make it happen.

Thanks,

Gildas

It is on everyone’s radar and was discussed at the may F2F but I don’t think
there was a timeline yet because it will be disruptive for a bit. Timeline will
probably have to come from the TSC due to all the cross project impacts. Maybe
bring it up in the tsc list if you think its important Viswa.

My understanding is that all the docker image names will be changed to onap.
In addition, all the Java artifacts will have groupIds and package names
changed to org.onap as well. I’m not sure what the timeline is on either of
these items.

These IP Address you will mention in the onap configuration files .

To check which application is holding these ip address .

you can login to each docker container and check netstat -tunlp | grep
ipaddress -- you should see some application running on those ip address and on
specific port .

I believe MSO supports keystone 3, so you can use onap except for dcae, but
Robot does not currently support keystone v3 so the demo scripts will not work.

Hello Daniel and Gaurav,

Daniel,

Yes, we are using the using keystone 3 (OS_IDENTITY_API_VERSION=3). Could you
please let us know, if it is possible to proceed further with keystone v3.

Gaurav,

Could you please let us know how the DCAE uses these allocated 5 IPs.

Hello

To be able to work on call flow in a collaborative way, I believe that we
should use a tool based on a description language rather using images.

Is there any guideline within the Linux Foundation for such tooling ?

Within Orange, we developed a cool tool:

Just drifting a little bit from the discussion .

Do we have any where the message/Action/Steps Sequence Flow

a- For SDC Function from ECOMP Portal till the way down to VNF and till the
hardware landscape of NFVI Infrastructure .

b - For VID from ECOMP Portal via MSO till the way down to VNF and till the

C- similar needs also exists for DACE both at the time of SDC as well as while
the service is running .

Hi,

Again, it would be useful to review all the portal functions based on personas:

SDC provide ALL design capability for Designers.
VID provide the Control (Instantiation) and Maintenance (Change Management),
but not Monitoring and Performance, thus it gives partial OSS capabilities for
Operations.

Shentao, please share few examples of end-user-self-service to understand it
better.

Dear Gaurav

There are several projects which have portal functions, but some necessary
functions don’t be provided by any project. (alarm monitor, show performance,
end-user self-service, etc.)
I suggest that we’d better to generalize all portals and implement functions
that not exist or not intend to provided in Usecase UI project.

Best regards,
Shentao

Dear all

I’m going to build Usecase UI project to solve this problem.

I’ve listed all portal requirements of ONAP in Usecase UI Proposal. And suggest
portal functions which have not be implemented should build in this project.

The project proposal described specific fuctions.
(https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Usecase+UI+Proposal+Template<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__wiki.onap.org_display_DW_Usecase-2BUI-2BProposal-2BTemplate=DwMFbw=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg=j7NGjvGh9iZaMB0Rh10J5rWBqYaZ6rorgNgeq4qJoUo=sVzAmdaH8eITqbpst2FiHLBk8_jlo-ER2hWKvEMBuyc=ORhoYwVuVTWZNOm407HP8iH_MOWKu1RjTI7jT-Lr10E=>)

Usecase UI will provide GUI for operators and end-users from the point of view
of use cases.

As a whole project, Usecase UI requiremetns not only includes service design
and run-time management (resource, performance, fault, security, configuration,
etc.) for operators,

but also includes self-service management for end-users.

This project targets identifying all GUI requirements which operators and
end-users need ONAP to support, coordinating GUI parts of each ONAP subsystem,
filling the gaps for improving GUI functionalities for use case.

All GUI functionalities of ONAP system can be well showed to satisfy the
requirements from different customers.

Scope:

1.   The Designer Role:

* Service design (implemented by SDC)

* VNF onboarding (implemented by SDC)

* Policy design (implemented by Policy Framework)

* Closed Loop design (implemented by CLAMP)

2.   The Operator Role:

* Service LCM (implemented by VID portal)

* Inventory for services and resources (implemented by A)

* Monitor system alarms (implemented by this project)

I assumed that one of the Goal of ONAP is managing the Cloud Infra and Service
easy for the Telco Operator .

As in traditional/conventional Network infra environment Network Element had
their own EMS/NMS System and even if some functions of NE or all of the NE even
if virtualized , poses a problem for the operator to look at 2 Screen at least .

a- EMS/NMS for NE and Service/KPI/Network Health Monitoring

b- Another for monitoring the health of Virtualized environment

Do you think - having too many GUI's would causes a lot of overhead unless
you are thinking of restricting each GUI to a specific Role .

Do correct if I am missing something subtle .

Hi, Daniel

Thanks for your reply.

I’m working to summarize portal requirements and want to confirm if VID is
going to provide a portal for service LCM because it seems no description about
GUI in VID proposal.

If VID provides a portal for service LCM, I agree with you that there is no
necessary to build the same part in Usecase UI project.

Btw, as I understand appc provides NB APIs, but not gui. Does service lifecycle
gui not exist in VID gui?

Best regards,

Shentao

On the one hand, VID already has a portal integration.

To answer your questions in a more broad way I don’t think we want to go about
creating GUIs for each specific use case (but I guess if the community does
they can reply and keep me honest) and that is what I got as the output from a
read of your project proposal. The idea in my opinion is to add capabilities to
the platform. When you look at it that way I see 3 gui areas Service Design,
Service Instantiation and Service Lifecycle. Service design is already covered
by sdc and that project. Service Instantiation is covered by VID and service
lifecycle is covered by appc gui, which may or may not be open sourced right
now I am not sure but I am sure we would be ok with doing so if its not. Then
if the release 1 use cases need enhancements t that we should implement them
generically and any vnf can use it. I certainly don’t want to build the same
thing for vcpe and volte!

Either way I don’t know what exactly your project is looking to do. Can you
clarify your project proposal a bit so vi d can better work together with you?

Thanks,

Daniel Rose

Hi, Michael and Helmi

I’m working for UseCase UI project and found that there is a relationship
between UseCase UI and VID project.

I’ve looked through the VID proposal and have some questions about VID project.

Could you help me to confirm questions about VID project. Thank you very much.

1. Is VID project planning to provide a portal component which will
integrate into Portal Platform?

2. If VID project provides a portal component, what detail functions will
be provided?

UseCase UI project will support managements of service & VNF lifecycle, I don’t
know whether VID has a duplicate scope because there is service & VNF
description in VID scope.

3. In UseCase UI proposal, seed code is linking to VID’s repo

I think both options end up running the same test suite. That is what we are
doing, so I would say yes, it’s sufficient. Regarding point 1, the command that
you need to run from the terminal is ./ete.sh –i health

Hello There

We have created ONAP stack on Openstack Mitaka ( Centos7 ) , We are looking
for some info about the ways to do the sanity check for the ONAP Environment .

There are 2 ways that are present .

using the

a- ete.sh with healthcheck as parameter from robot vm .

b-

Log into the vm1-robot VM (get from cloud provider)

- In the shell run: docker exec openecompete_container
/var/opt/OpenECOMP_ETE/runTags.sh -i health

Any suggestion whether the above 2 are sufficient or there are additional
