I’d like to thank my fellow committers: Jorge Hernandez-Herrero, Jim Hahn, Liam

expertise over the past six releases. Truly a team effort to build a
first-class Policy Framework project. I also wish to thank the many other
contributors of the Policy project from AT&T, Ericsson, Bell Canada, and Wipro

Re: [onap-tsc] Slack?

2019-06-21 Thread Liam Fallon
Hi All,

We've been using Rocket Chat in the Policy Framework since the start of the
Dublin development work and it has been a pretty seamless experience, it works
as well as any of the myriad chat applications.

For us, it has been very useful for communication between the developers in
Europe and North America because there is a few hours of a common time window
and dropping a message on Rocket Chat has been very useful to get issues sorted
quickly. We have some developers in China as well but messaging is not so
useful there for communication due to the lack of time zone overlap, nothing to
do with the messaging platform.

One other point would be perhaps to find a way of counting Rocket Chat
engagement by people so that it counts as credit to them when measuring
community engagement.

Best regards
Liam

On 21/06/2019 11:10, Brian wrote:
Probably worth re-doing the survey since we have been using rocket-chat for
some time and there may be feedback on how its working/not working for folks.

We need to move the rocket-chat we have to a better supported environment.
Moving it to https://onap-integration.onap.org:443 in LF with SSL would be
perhaps the next step. We could do the setup/domain change with the current
server and if that works migrate the server to LF or simply bring up a new
instance in LF and let folks re-register on the new site.

We can not use the hosted version since its important that it be off onap.org
for the corporate firewalls. A non-descript hostname helps as well.

We did test ssl from APAC back in mid 2018 and it did work at that time.

Yes Slack is still in the 2019 Apps list blocked in China.

I remember that you created a wiki page to collect feedback.

There was also a Survey performed last year about IM Tools – Another choice was

Re: [onap-tsc] Confluence JSON Plugin

2019-02-04 Thread Liam Fallon
It's a pretty dank and dusty corner of Confluence. It's a way of requesting
from the system administrator for plugins to be added, I have no idea where the
request goes. To request a plugin do this:

1. Edit any page
2. CLick the + "Add more content" icon on the toollbar at the top
3. Select "Other Macros..."
4. A window appears, click "Find more macros..." at the bottom
5. Atlassian marketpalce shows up, search for example for PlantUML, click
"Request"
6. A popup comes up "Your system administrators have been notified" It does not
say how the notification is done!

Thanks

Not sure the right list for this, but I am wondering if the LF could install a
JSON Viewer Plugin into the Confluence Wiki so we can use highlighting/colors
to better view JSON in the wikis? Right now I see only the {code} plugin but it
doesn’t recognize JSON. It would be nice for illustration purposes.

Thanks,

Pam

[onap-tsc] Guidelines for Committing Code Reviews

2018-12-03 Thread Liam Fallon
Hi All,

In the ONAP Policy Framework , we have guidelines for committing code reviews
that works rather well. We expect that other projects have very similar if not
identical guidelines for code reviews. However, our guidelines are not fully
documented.

The ONAP best practice for code reviews appear on this page created by Gildas:
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Code+Review

I have created a draft sub page off Gildas' page and added the guidelines used
in the PF project to Gildas' list:

https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/Draft+Guidelines+for+Committing+Code+Reviews

I would like to look for input and contributions from other projects and
interested people so that we can come to an ONAP-wide consensus on code review
commits. Please amend/comment/add to/delete from the page above.

Once we have an acceptable degree of consensus the guidelines can then be
brought to the PTL meeting and then the TSC for approval and be ready for the
heavy lifting in Dublin.

What is suggested is probably what everyone is already doing but it's better to
write them down.

Best Regards
Liam

Re: [onap-tsc] [ONAP Helpdesk #58470] Jira issues - again

2018-07-18 Thread Liam Fallon
Hi All,

Don't know if this is helpful. Jira seems to be at its worst from about
11:00-15:00 UTC (One advantage of local time being ~UTC here). My speculation
is that during these hours people in the east are finishing their day, people
in Europe are in the middle of the day and people on the east coast of the
Americas are starting their day, therefore during those four hours we have the
heaviest load on Jira.

Best Regards
Liam

Dear Ryan,

From the stats we are capturing, were you able to detect any
inconsistencies during
the morning today?

Also, yesterday at 8:30 am PT time looks like Pam reported the same issue
too.

Thanks a ton!
Jess
