Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Meta Records/holds and electronic records
Hi Josh, There is an old bug on the issue where electronic records weren't displaying on the search results page. https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1403907 This bug was addressed with the code that reroutes metarecord searches through the standard search code - https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1629108 and is available in 2.12. I think we want to continue to include electronic resources in the metarecord group, particularly now that 2.12 has a feature that uses these groups to provide links to other formats and editions in the bib record. Although they are not valid for holds, they are valid formats that users may want to see in the list of available formats and editions. I think https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1461654 may also be related to your question. Basically, we don't want to see the MR hold in the list of holds on records that are not elibible to fill the hold. I thought that the main reason to use metarecords was to take advantage of meta holds, so it would seem to make sense to not include titles that cannot have copies. Here is an example of what I’m seeing. When I do a search for “Fantastic Beasts and where to find them” and group formats and editions, out catalog groups 4 titles together, two books and two electronic records. https://egcatalog.larl.org/eg/opac/results?query=Fantastic+beasts+and+where+to+find+them=title%3Asearch_format==1_record_view=0==metabib The display shows (2) copies, but also shows the icons for the electronic copies. But if you click on the metarecord, only the two physical copy records are shown. So it basically hides the electronic records from view/use. If I place a meta hold on that metarecord, and leave the format unselected, one of the electronic copies has been chosen as the master record, so the hold looks like it is on one of the electronic records, and the electronic record title is shown to the customer in the holds screen. I tried to find a discussion about this, or any related bugs but I didn’t have any luck. Any tips on how I can adjust this behavior would be appreciated. Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Meta Records/holds and electronic records
Josh, This is a bug for metarecord searching. These are the related bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1420509 https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1461650 https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1403907 https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1629108 Good news! This was addressed recently! The fix was merged for the 2.12 release. You could patch your machines if you were feeling adventurous: http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=working/Evergreen.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/user/blake/LP1629108-metarecord-constituent-result-reroute Addressing the holds issue is a different story. It seems benign when an electronic record is included in the group considering there are no copies on the electronic bib. You could* change your fingerprint configuration to include the format but that would defeat the purpose of "Group formats and editions" -Blake- Conducting Magic MOBIUS 573-234-4513 877-312-3517 On 4/5/2017 11:45 AM, Josh Stompro wrote: Hello, we just started adding marc records for our overdrive and EbooksMN (biblioboard) collections and now I’m noticing that meta holds will apply to these records.
