Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] using 151a8 in production
I just see this discussion and wonder if you tried pkg install slim_install ? -Original Message- From: David Thistlethwaite [mailto:da...@thistlethwaites.com] Sent: maandag 25 november 2013 8:12 To: openindiana-discuss@openindiana.org Subject: [OpenIndiana-discuss] using 151a8 in production Hello folks I am a newbie to openindiana. I am considering using the 151a8 version as a production server, the server will perform the following 1) Server files via samba and NFS 2) Run around 10 virtual machines using virtualbox, these machines will be web servers and Microsoft AD and exchange boxes. 3) ZFS is a must and I am considering openindiana as it will probably have the most stable code base for zfs (as I cannot afford to purchase solaris) The load on this system will be very light but I need a server that will be rock solid, as downtime is an serious issue. I am seeking advice as the release notes state that 152a8 is a development release ? I appreciate all opinions in this regard. [OpenIndiana-discuss] Building OpenOffice 4.0.1
Hello, I am trying to build OpenOffie 4.0.1. According to the building instructions I do: $ export LD_ALTEXEC= $ export ANT_HOME=/opt/gnu/ant/ $ export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java $ autoconf $ ./configure --with-dmake-url=http://dmake.apache-extras.org.codespot.com/files /dmake-4.12.tar.bz2 --with-epm-url=http://www.msweet.org/files/project2/epm-3.7- source.tar.gz --disable-odk --with-lang=el en --with-junit=/extra/sources/Open Office/java/junit-4.11.jar $ ./bootstrap $ source SolarisX86GccEnv.Set $ build --all In the last step I am getting the following error message: build -- version: 275224 = Building module solenv = Entering /extra/sources/OpenOffice/aoo-4.0.1/main/solenv ERROR! Could not detect compiler version! Please extend tg_compv.mk in solenv/inc. g++ -dumpversion returns 4.7.2 force_dmake_to_error dmake: Error executing 'force_dmake_to_error': No such file or directory dmake: Error code -1, while making 'compiler_version_error' 1 module(s): solenv need(s) to be rebuilt Reason(s): ERROR: error 65280 occurred while making /extra/sources/OpenOffice/aoo-4.0.1/main/solenv When you have fixed the errors in that module you can resume the build by running: build --all:solenv Now, I am sure there is a bug somewhere because the script correctly finds the version of the compiler but somehow fails to recognize it! Has anyone tried to compile OpenOffice and if yes how he/she has managed to go further? A.S. PS Of course it is a pitty that Solaris was a supported platform for OpenOffice and now these people say that Solaris is not supported. Thanks, I may take you up on that. Right now I'm installing software I need. Interestingly enough, on this install, the package manager is borked. It will start from the command line with pfexec, but not from the System-Administration menu. Easy enough to get around, but it makes me wonder how well the LiveCD image was tested... Yep. I knew about this, and reset the root password right away. And this problem was irrelevant as the system had no GUI; Gnome is what I was trying to install. Re: [OpenIndiana-discuss] (no subject)
Well, the first command shows a big problem right away. The DVD didn't create /.volsetid!! sigh I copied the one from the DVD, but then it didn't boot at all. Using this: http://openindiana.org/pipermail/openindiana-discuss/2010-November/001482.html I managed to delete the file and get back to a semi-functional state. So, before I start chasing my own tail with the network issue, I need to figure out how to create a valid .volsetid.. In 20 years of (Open)Solaris/OpenIndiana administration, I've *never* experienced something like this. :-( Rainer On 11/22/2013 1:35 AM, Stefan Müller-Wilken wrote: Hi Rainer, Yep.
