Re: Default zoom level in whiteboard

2010-11-09 Thread seba.wag...@gmail.com
*even though I still don't understand why the
default isn't to show the page in it's full pixel size*

because 90% of all users complain about the opposite!
The majority of the users use it that way:
The moderator load the slides and scale it so that he can see it optimal *on
his screen resolution
*then the user x,y,z enters the room and the moderator talks about sth in
the slides but the users cannot see it cause they use different screen
resolutions ...
=> that is what the full-fit functionality is build for, it will zoom it so
that the document is 100% visible on all screen

2010-11-09 Thread Peder
OK, I have done some more moderator/user testing and indeed, if the
moderator changes zoom level the users also see that change. So I can
probably live with that (even though I still don't understand why the
default isn't to show the page in it's full pixel size).

Re: Default zoom level in whiteboard

2010-11-09 Thread seba.wag...@gmail.com
Peder,

why should any *novice* has to play around with that at all?!?!

Its your job as moderator to either decide *full-fit* to have the hole
document visible OR to adjust the zoom manually to 100%. No other
participant except the moderator needs to take hand on those values.

And I don't think that the always visible top-right on the whiteboard is
harder to see then some hidden values in the property editor.

The Demo site displays it somewhat better (http://www2.park.se/~peder/
Demo-wrong.jpg) but I still need to take some action (i.e. set the
zoom slider [which is now even harder for a novice to see and
understand] to 100%) if I want to be able read the document.

Re: Default zoom level in whiteboard

2010-11-09 Thread Peder
To clarify one final time, if I load a document into the whiteboard in
OM-1.5 I get this result: http://www2.park.se/~peder/15-wrong.jpg
What I want to be displayed as default is this :
http://www2.park.se/~peder/15-right.jpg

If I interpret what my users says correctly, the latter was the
default behaviour in OM-1.0 and when I upgraded to 1.5 they got the
former.

Re: Default zoom level in whiteboard

2010-11-09 Thread seba.wag...@gmail.com
Hallo Peder,

well I don't think that this kind of feature will come to reality in a
community driven process. You might add a ticket to the support bug tracker.

But I don't see any realistic use-case for that, what shall be usage of
that?

Also you can already achieve that, just unmark the checkbox *full fit* and
then drag and drop the document to the whiteboard. You can then freely scale
the document and all participant will see the document at EXACTLY same
zoom-level like you do.

Re: Default zoom level in whiteboard

2010-11-09 Thread Peder
I'm not sure if we misunderstand each other.
What I would like to be able to set as default (it could be a setting
in config.xml) is do display the unscaled document.
It doesn't matter if I only see the first 5 lines of the page and have
to scroll to see the rest but I don't want a zoomed out page where I
either have to find some zoom button or buy a really strong magnifying
glass :)

Yes and that is what the new function will do it will scale the document so
that you can see it completely, no matter what screen resolution each user
has.

What I would like is a way to have it displayed entirely unzoomed as a
default (and from what I can tell the demo version seems to be doing

For most users it's of little interest to see the whole document if
it's zoomed so much they can't see the details.

Re: Default zoom level in whiteboard

2010-11-09 Thread seba.wag...@gmail.com
Hallo Peder,

check the Demo Version on www.openmeetings.de

There is a new implementation of the full-fit and zooming in there.
If you enable full fit, it will be displayed 100% VISIBLE (that means on a
screen with 1024x768 it might be 40% while on another screen 70%). Also
objects drawn on the whiteboard are now zoomed in the smae dimensions as the
obejcts on the whiteboard.
