[orkut-developer] App uninstall - Available now?
I was reading the Orkut Developer Guidelines, more specifically the section User Data On Thirty-Party Servers, and the portuguese version is explicit on saying that app uninstall is available: Como foi incluído suporte para manipuladores de eventos de desinstalação, as informações de perfis de usuário estendidas podem ser armazenadas até a remoção do aplicativo, mas, até lá, a duração máxima é de sete dias. http://code.google.com/intl/pt-BR/apis/orkut/docs/orkutdevguidelines.html#data However, the english version is a little ambiguous. I think it may be talking about the actions WHEN this function become available: Once support is added for uninstall event handlers, extended user profile information may be stored until the application is removed, but 7 days is the maximum duration until then. Since I haven't found anything about app uninstall on the documentation, and the older topics on this forum say it doesn't exists, I was wondering if it's really available now or it was just lost in translation... [orkut-developer] Re: New Orkut Feedback
I totally agree. The new orkut is very confusing... the older version is much better! I'm using it yet. But some things you only can use if yo're using the new version... :( -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups orkut Developer Forum group. [orkut-developer] Google is Sleeping ..Please Read Google Members
Hello Orkut is alredy Going Down in India , and i think it Will soon Down in Brazil also , I am confused How Google Orkut Approve this 2 Column Layout in Orkut . Adding All current feature in Old layout will Help Orkut in attracting Users , Current layout Only Confuse Old Users ( all my Orkut Friends is Confused , i think other are also confused) as well as New Users. Instead of Adding Badges Orkut can Give VIP profiles OPTION , Were most active user get points to reach to different Vip levels at certain point . If theme feature is available at VIP level then user will try hard to reach there . Orkut is restricting and confusing Users with new Layout , Activate all new feature in Old orkut and then see the change . Add scrollbar in Friends ,Community and Display App Box below Community. Remove App Profile view from Profile Make Update like new Orkut in Old Orkut and many other and then see the Change Think on this Suggestion , Please Do Something ,.. I dont know whether Orkut will read this message or Not or Anyone bring this to there Notice or not , only thing i know that i care and worried about Orkut both as a developer and as a User . [orkut-developer] Re: NEWS: AppInfo page now smartly redirects to Canvas page
that's cool. what is better then now - attract existing/new users to the info page or canvas page? (since canvas page url is sometimes hard to detect) it will be cool also to do vice a versa: if a user lands on the canvas page and the app is not installed - she is redirected to the info page? maybe I'm missing something - this behaviour has changed several times already. another question - where does activity story link (via ... ) redirect now? thanks On Dec 10, 6:47 pm, Bruno Oliveira bru...@google.com wrote: Hey everyone, I'd like to announce a new feature. It's a minor change but it's really handy. The AppInfo page now smartly redirects to Canvas page. This means less clicks and likely more ad conversions. Before: Users landing in the AppInfo page for an app were shown the app info regardless of whether he had the app installed or not. Users who had it installed had to click View App in order to run it. Now: Upon landing in the AppInfo page, a smarter decision is made: if the user already has the application installed on his profile, he is immediately redirected to the Canvas page for the app. If he does not have the app, he remains in the App Info page. Why this is cool: If you are attracting users to your app info page via ads or links elsewhere, users will land in the appropriate page: - old users who already had the app will go straight into the Canvas page and run the app without having to go through the extra step of clicking View App. This will probably up your ad conversions from existing users. - new users who do not have the app will be given a chance to learn more about it and install it. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups orkut Developer Forum group. [orkut-developer] Re: NEWS: AppInfo page now smartly redirects to Canvas page
It's best to attract users to the app info page. That way they will be correctly redirected. Remember that applications still have a guest mode, which happens when a user who does not have the app views it on someone else's profile (he can arrive there through the via link, for instance). That's what you get when you land in the canvas view of an app on someone else's profile and you don't have it installed. The recommended practice is that applications should have a guest mode in which the user can get a feel for the application without installing it. Applications must not redirect guest users from Canvas Page to the App Info page. Users who like the app in guest mode should install it using the Add App button on the frame (the app can help by pointing it out to the user, but the app must not force him to click it). -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups orkut Developer Forum group. so activity via link redirects to app canvas, is this correct? On Dec 12, 8:21 am, Bruno Oliveira bru...@google.com wrote: It's best to attract users to the app info page.
