[orkut-developer] Re: Profile View is blank if use any script tag

2010-01-11 Thread sharath
I am also facing the same problem from many days, Waiting for any help
from the orkut team.

On Jan 9, 7:07 am, lgtmelo lgtme...@gmail.com wrote:
 hi, i noticed this week that my app profile view has gone blank. after
 many tests, I observed that it was caused by any script tag that i
 put on it. The thing is... how can i call open social templates
 without a script tag?

 script type=text/os-template  xmlns:os=http://ns.opensocial.org/
 2008/markup xmlns:osx= http://ns.opensocial.org/2009/extensions;

 if i remove this line, everything will be shown normally, but then, i
 will not have any way to have a hyperlink to canvas view from
 profile... because if i put a direct link it will open at the app's
 little iframe, and for some reason, if i put target=_parent, it will
 just be filtered out from code when shown on orkut.

 everything worked normally before this, for about 6 months... wtf has
 happened lol...

 please help guys :P

  4) From what I can see, the current profile view issue is related to

  5) The blog says that Using data pipelining and templates will reduce

  doesn't address the current problem with profile views, IMHO I should
  not be forced to used it.

  6) It's not clear what is a os:DataRequest. First, is said to be
  equivalent to makeRequest, but the example show it's the very same
  thing as os:PeopleRequest, while os:HttpRequest would be the new
  makeRequest.

  7) Where is Caja? I was told on Caja forum that the reason why Caja is
  not being used yet is confidential, but if Orkut put this project to

var req = opensocial.newDataRequest();
req.add(req.newFetchPersonRequest(VIEWER, params), viewer);
req.send(response);

function response(data) {
var viewer = data.get(viewer).getData();
var profile_url =
viewer.getField(opensocial.Person.Field.PROFILE_URL);
var regex = /uid=([^#]+)/;
var result = profile_url.match(regex);
if (result.length == 2) {
var uid = result[1];
/* uid now contains the viewer's orkut UID */

   10 interactions. When you want to limit the activities to say once per
   day, what do you want to show in the activity, 1) summary of user
   interactions or 2) only one of the user interactions

   In case, your platform is Orkut and you are worried about Spamming,
   please read the following note

  http://code.google.com/apis/orkut/docs/orkutdevguide.html#activitystr...

   To avoid applications spamming the activity stream, applications will
   be limited to posting three activity stream updates per application

[orkut-developer] Re: Posting Activity Stream on Install

2008-05-05 Thread sharath

Hi Rohit,

I went through it.
In my application I need to show only one activity per day.(only one
of the user interactions)
The same activity can be repeated by the user few times in a day/week
but i need to post only once in a day/week to the stream.
This will maintain a better user experience instead of writing into
stream many times.

Thanks and Regards
Sharath

 Hi Sharath,
 I need to understand your use case better in order to help you. A user
 can interact with a OpenSocial application on Orkut say 10 times in a
 day. I am assuming right now there are 10 activities posted for these
 10 interactions. When you want to limit the activities to say once per
 day, what do you want to show in the activity, 1) summary of user
 interactions or 2) only one of the user interactions

 In case, your platform is Orkut and you are worried about Spamming,
 please read the following note

 http://code.google.com/apis/orkut/docs/orkutdevguide.html#activitystr...

 To avoid applications spamming the activity stream, applications will
 be limited to posting three activity stream updates per application
 per user per day. Note that this limit will only be in place on
 production orkut (www.orkut.com). To make development easier, the
 sandbox will not have any limits on activity stream updates.

 Rohit

Hi Jerome,

Thanks for your reply.
I tried in the gadget body also but its not working, even tested your
application;
I could not see the language change even after changing display
language setting to estonia.

 Hi Sharath,

 Everything looks good from what you described above, as long as you
 have the following 2 lines in your gadget ModulePrefs,
 withhttp://example.com/hello/replaced with the location where your
 message bundles are hosted:

   Locale lang=en messages=http://example.com/hello/en_ALL.xml/
   Locale lang=pt messages=http://example.com/hello/pt_ALL.xml/

 For a quick test, you would be better of trying the __MSG_desc__ in
 your gadget body. I am not sure what the caching policy is for the
 gadget description on the Orkut sandbox.

 If you want to see the localization working for a gadget, check
 Friends' Time in the directory. The days and months are localized and
 this is working good.

Does container choose the appropriate bundle automatically depending

 Hi Sharath,

 Here is a working example. It has localization for Portuguese also.
 I am using pt-BR for lang for Portuguese. The display setting was
 changed to Portuguese to test this gadget.

 ?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8?
 Module
 ModulePrefs title=__MSG_title__ description=__MSG_description__
 Require feature=opensocial-0.7/
 Locale messages=http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/

 Locale lang=en-US messages=http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/

 Locale lang=pt-BR messages=http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/
 file/117096175175119497472/pt_ALL.xml/
 /ModulePrefs
 Content type=html![CDATA[
 __MSG_helloworld__

 ]]/Content
 /Module

 You can try the gadget from the following
 URLhttp://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/117096175175119497472/i18...

 Check it out let me know if this was helpful.

I tried portuguese language, its not working even though I have a
message bundle for portugese named pt_ALL.xml, its displaying english
from ALL_ALL.xml

 Hi Sharath,

 The container uses the display language: setting to decide which
 message bundle to use. You can set this parameter from the Settings
 menu (last item from the left side bar, with a small tool icon).

 This is working fine in both the sandbox and the production Orkut (for
 users setting their country to Estonia and India obviously).

 I hope this helps.
