Re: [osol-discuss] SXCE build 84 *only* seems to be out

2008-03-10 Thread Moritz Willers
Thanks, and the from changed subtly again. I guess I have to improve
the logic yet again so one has to chose from the pop up. code updated
in the meanwhile to account for the new form values.

I actually downloaded it.

zizz:/home/imp> ls -l /data/images/sxce/sol-nv-b84-x86-
dvd.iso

-rw-r--r-- 1 imp imp 3953131520 Mar 9 01:27
/data/images/sxce/sol-nv-b84-x86-dvd.iso
zizz:/home/imp>

Is it actually b84, or is it b83 with a different filename?

Looks pretty much b84 to me. It comes with CIFS client,
so it has to be b84...

It's 84. I just sent the announcement (I missed the mail about it over
the weekend).

Still no word on the wget issue. I'm still trying to find the right
person to talk to.

2008-03-09 Thread Moritz Willers

Well, I can't find 84; I'll wait.

But at least I figured out that my download script was far too
simplistic with the form. Should work better now. but only
downloading 83 following the sol_x_dvd link. If anyone downloaded the
script and it was useless: try again.

It works if you follow the regular download links from opensolaris.org
(which is still b83a) first.

Remember that the new installer isn't finished yet, and some of this
functionality will be added back eventually.

I don't know if the ip address prompt will be added back because of nwam.

I also don't know if the uid/gid is coming back.

I do know that the disk layout (to a certain extent) will return.

I was getting errors over and over and then finally I was able to download
the ISO image. Looks like snv_84 to me.

The new installer, while simple, is a little too simple. I am installing a
server and it never asks me for ip address nor can I specify the uid and gid
of the first new user. I can not layout the disk as I see fit either.

On my Sparc systems I am going for the text based installer from the console
and I hope that it is still the same detailed installer that it always has
been. The GRUB menu seems to offer a text based installer via the ttya port
( or ttyb ) and that may solve the problem on x86.
