Oh, then you're looking for the wrong thing. There has never ever been SUNWglrt for x86, and any documentation telling you to install on x86 is just wrong. OpenGL for x86 is provided on the LiveCD in SUNWxorg-mesa & NVDAgraphics packages, depending on which graphics you're using - only Intel & Nvidia graphics have 3-D acceleration though. -- -Alan Coopersmith- alan.coopersm...@sun.com Sun Microsystems, Inc. - X Window System Engineering ___ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org

John DeHart wrote: > So is there anything I can do to help speed the process along? We'd actually not been working much on it lately since there didn't seem to be much interest, given that OpenSolaris on SPARC has only one supported card with 3-D acceleration (the XVR-2500). Unfortunately right now, our lawyers seem to be highly distracted by work on the complex legal details of the proposed acquisition, so I don't know when we'll be able to get them to work on determining what we have to do to be able to release OpenGL in compliance with the contracts/licenses we have for IP from other companies contained within it. SUNWglrt is of course available in SVR4 packages in the Solaris Express Community Edition downloads, though to install on OpenSolaris, you'd need to workaround the replacement of /usr/openwin with a link - such as is shown for the Motif package in: http://wiki.sun-rays.org/index.php/SRSS_4.1_on_OpenSolaris_2008.11#Motif -- -Alan Coopersmith- alan.coopersm...@sun.com Sun Microsystems, Inc. - X Window System Engineering ___ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org

So is there anything I can do to help speed the process along? I'll certainly contact those in the know to prod for answers. Does anyone on the board have any contacts? If we have to licence the software I bet many of us would be willing to do so. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org ___ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org

Nobody who knows can give you the specifics, but "encumbered" generally means that there are legal restrictions on how the code must be handled. Some aspect of it (or of the documentation used to produce it) are controlled by an entity outside of Sun. There are a few things we have that are "encumbered" in one way or another. In some cases, we can freely share the binaries, but not the source. In others, the binaries must be individually licensed. -- James Carlson, Solaris Networking Sun Microsystems / 35 Network Drive71.232W Vox +1 781 442 2084 MS UBUR02-212 / Burlington MA 01803-2757 42.496N Fax +1 781 442 1677 ___ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org

I am willing to spend time working the situation out. If we could get this running it would be big boon for the open solaris platform amongst CATIA users. Sun OpenGL on SPARC is encumbered so there are non-technical issues delivering this from a redistributable repository. There are ongoing discussions on the proper way to make this available, possibly the /extra repository. ___ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
