Re: [Openstack-operators] [openstack-ansible] Mid Cycle Sprint

2015-12-17 Thread Jesse Pretorius
Hi everyone,

Thank you all for responding and giving your feedback.

Given that the Ops Mid Cycle [1] is in the UK (15-16 Feb) and AnsibleFest
[2] is also in the UK (18 Feb), and also that everyone seems ok with the UK
as a location for the mid cycle then we shall have it in the UK!

The Ops Mid Cycle organisers have also graciously offered for us to be a
part of the Ops Mid Cycle agenda. I would like as many of us as possible to
play a part in the Ops Mid Cycle - listening, learning and contributing
where possible. As such, I'd like us to limit the number of sessions we
have within the Ops Mid Cycle. Let's have a few open design-style sessions.

Thereafter, as discussed in today's community meeting [3], we can break
down into work sessions where we can work on specific goals. This will
happen on the Wednesday 17 Feb and we will be hosted at the Rackspace
offices in Hayes (West London).

I've setup an Etherpad [4] to gather proposals for Fishbowl Sessions (at
the Ops Mid Cycle) and Work Sessions (for 17 Feb). Please add any sessions
you'd like to facilitate/moderate. If there are sessions there, then please
feel free to add your +1 to show that you'd like to see it.

As discussed in the meeting today [3] I'm on holiday until the New Year.
Please all have a wonderful time over the year's end and I'll see you all
bright-eyed and bushy tailed next year!

Best regards,

Jesse

[Openstack-operators] OpenStack Architecture Design Guide Virtual Swarm

2015-12-17 Thread Shilla Saebi
All,

We are set and ready to go for the architecture design guide virtual swarm
on 12/21 and 12/22. This will be our first combined effort to rework the
guide, starting with the virtual two day swarm. At this time, we are still
looking for SMEs to review the current guide, the proposed structure and
suggest changes to the information architecture and content. Sign up to
volunteer at the following link:

https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/arch-guide-reorg

The virtual swarm is scheduled for the 21st and 22nd of December and it's
flexible for everyone to work in their own time zone. We have designated a
freenode IRC channel for the swarm: #arch-guide-swarm

Feel free to join and sign up, look forward to seeing you there!

[Openstack-operators] Keystone token HA

2015-12-17 Thread Ajay Kalambur (akalambu)
Hi
If we deploy Keystone using memcached as token backend we see that bringing
down 1 of 3 memcache servers results in some tokens getting invalidated. Does
memcached not support replication of tokens
So if we wanted HA w.r.t keystone tokens should we use SQL backend for tokens?

[Openstack-operators] Need your help recruiting participants for Ironic interviews

2015-12-17 Thread Kruithof Jr, Pieter
I was hoping for some help from the operators.

The OpenStack UX team is conducting a series of interviews focused on hardware
provisioning with the intent of helping to inform the development of a
standalone GUI for the Ironic project. Individuals using MaaS, Cobbler and
Foreman are also welcome to participate in the study.

The interviews will take less than an hour and the OpenStack UX project will
share the results of the study with the community. We have researchers that
are fluent in English, Greek, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, French and Japanese.

Have participants (or yourselves) click on the following link to select time(s)
when to identify when they would be available. The OpenStack UX team will send
them an email invitation with additional information including a link to the
virtual room.

If you have any concerns or comments, please feel free to reply to me.

Thanks,

Piet Kruithof

[Openstack-operators] [app-catalog] App Catalog IRC meeting minutes - 12/17/2015

2015-12-17 Thread Christopher Aedo
This morning we had a nice meeting which included an update on Glare
from Alexander Tivelkov. They're making really good progress on the
glance artifact repository work and it will be a big benefit to the
App Catalog soon. We also discussed the dead-link checking that we
will implement in the next few days (links to related reviews are
below, plus this one that was just submitted to the project-config
repo: https://review.openstack.org/259232).

Hopefully before the end of the year we'll finish that work which also
lays out the pieces I'll need in order to add in automated asset
updating (like keeping the hash up to date for frequently updated
images).

This was our last meeting of the year, due to overlap with holidays.
Our next meeting will be January 7th, 2016 - hope to see you there!
(in the mean time, hope you all enjoy the holidays!)

-Christopher
