Re: [Openstack-operators] [kolla] question of default users for operators

2016-08-31 Thread Steven Dake (stdake)
Blair,

I wanted to get back to you with what we ended up with in Kolla Newton, as well
as our z streams of Liberty and Mitaka.

We decided not to create a default user as a result of this thread. We did
decide to create a member role to match the defaults shipped in horizon's
configuration files.

Hope the information is useful.

Thanks for the tight feedback loop :)

Regards
-steve

+1 for not creating a default user. You will need a default role for
unprivileged users, however. "member" is fine in that regard I think.

"member" is a role, not a user. The default unprivileged user is named
"demo" and has the "member" role in a project called "demo".

Yup, thanks for the correction.

Are you asking what the name of the unprivileged *role* should be by
default in Kolla installations? Or are you asking what, if any, a
default unprivileged *user* should be called?

The idea of adding a user called "user" with a role called "user" was
proposed. Curious if operators care to want that.

Personally, if OpenStack default is to have a member or _member_ as an operator
I would prefer there be a user according to the default.
