Re: [opensuse] Beagled taking too much memory 2GB+ [SOLVED]

2007-02-14 Thread Rui Santos
HI,

I found out what was causing the excess use of memory.
I have about 300.000 emails on my thunderbird, and thought it could
be too much.
When I disabled the Thunderbird backend, My problems went way.

Thanks for your help.

 Your's was ( just ) 167MB .

Does the memory size increases along with the number of files that gets
 indexed ?

2007-02-02 Thread Martin Mielke
Hi Rui and all,

as I wrote on a previous email to the list (still no replies, though), I
decided to remove the complete Beagle stuff.
Not only it was (over)loading the system from time to time, it also created a
lot of zombie/defunct processes, ate a lot of memory, etc etc.

Anyway, it's normal that your Linux system takes up as much memory as possible.
I read somewhere (maybe in this list) memory not used, memory wasted...

If it continues like this I will probably do the same...

Was this about the output of 'free -m' or the output of 'cat
/proc/pid/status' ?
