Which version of SUSE Linux / openSUSE are you using ? How Firefox
2.0.0.2 was installed/updated ? Per system online update ? By first
downloading an archive from a non-SUSE site ?

You should become a bit more precise to get useful replies !

i found the opensuse download site for firefox 2.0.0.2. i got it
installed and running.

You do not need tpo download software updates manually. There is a
functionality which informs about update available online.

For details see another reply from my side within this thread !

Actually, that's not true. That functionality only works if you use the
firefox version right from the firefox folks, the ones from openSUSE
have that functionality disabled. The intent is to publish new RPMs when
new firefoxes become available rather than use the update mechanism
built into firefox itself.

Of course, the update mechanism built-in does work for themes and
extensions.

The SUSE update notifier informs you about updates of the software and
Firefox 2.0.0.2 is an official update (at least for openSUSE 10.2). So
he was right.

i am using opensuse 10.2. i got the file from mozilla.com.

i am running firefox 2.0 that came with the opensuse os. i would have
thought by now that firefox would have updated to the current version.
 i guess i thought wrong.

As long as you configured an update repository ( should be a mirror of
http://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/update/10.2/ ), you should get all
 updates automatically.

If this wasn't done up to now you can accomplish that by calling [YaST]
 - [Software] - [Configure online update].
