The solutions was to remove fglrx.ko which was still there after uninstalling the fglrx rpm. Compiz works fine after that, except of white frames around all unframed windows (tooltips, menus, kicker). This won't be fixed. All the efforts to get the radeon driver to start 'X' in 3D acceleration fail. ;-( 2D works... I do not know how to get 3D acceleration accomplished. Adding the suggested lines to xorg.conf, cause the xserver to not start, and return to tty1. sax2 recovers a cmo cmc monitor, which does not exist on this system, but can easily be corrected to the right monitor: Videoseven. Offcourse it overwrites xorg.conf, and again, i am were i started. Reading the wiki shows me there's no 3d desktop for everybody, helas.
