Thanks!

Tested myself as well under Vista - and had a couple of others test as
well. Everything worked fine, so we're going to include it,

Seems to work (Vista 32-Bit, RC1)

What I did:
Install Vista
Install 10.2 RC1
Reboot -> Vista boots
Upgrade ntfsprogs
Resize Windows partition from 20 GB to 17 GB
Reboot -> Vista still boots

I'm uploading to my directory now the i386 CD1 of RC3 - that way you
can test the shrinking - but it means you have to abort the
installation after installing packages from CD1. This should help you
to test it...

forget it, it loads the image via ftp, the mini-iso alone does not help :/

Btw. Would be nice to have a mini-iso with the new ntfsprogs version. So
resizing could be done within the installer.

AFAIK the problem was that vista did not boot after shrinking. So it does not
make much sense to test this without a running Vista installation.

[opensuse-factory] Call for testers: ntfsprogs

2006-11-28 Thread Andreas Jaeger
Hi,

we just have prepared a ntfsprogs package which supports resizing of
NTFS partitions for Vista. This is rather new and untested and we therefore
need some testers to test:
* resizing of normal ntfs partitions
* resizing of Vista ntfs partitions

For those of you that have a backup handy, please do some testings and report
back whether everything works and windows can still use the partition
afterwards.

If it fails, please open a blocker bug and assign to me. IF you tested, please
reply
here so that I know whether it was tested at all.

I'm considering adding this for 10.2 - but need testers. We'll do some testing
internally tomorrow as well but the more testers, the better...

The rpms are available from:
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/aj/ntfsprogs

Thanks for your tests - and thanks to Carl-Daniel for preparing the package and
to
the ntfs team for developing this,

Andreas
