Hi Georg,

Sorry for answering too late;

As you mentioned, I reviewed requirement’s document and I think the following
points should be considered:

1. In sections 2.1.1, 2.1.3.1 , 2.4, I think a picture could make descriptions
more clear.

2. In sections 2.5.1 and 2.5.2, I think two high level architeture pictures
could show how instances or clouds's networks would be seprated.)
( as a sample:
docs.openstack.org/mitaka/networking-guide/scenario-provider-ovs.html)

I’m working on finding a good example for your suggested part (2.4.2),

I think these scenarios are not bad :
http://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/networking-guide/scenario-provider-lb.html ,
http://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/networking-guide/scenario-provider-ovs.html ,
but actually I’m not sure;

So I’m digging into Neutron provider and tenant networks in openstack to give
you a good example.

P.S. I have direct access to Gerrit and indirect access to opnfv requirement’s
doc (using VPN), but we want to have direct access because the sanctions
against Iran were lifted.:)

Hi,

As you said, I've searched and found 3 examples that makes part 2.4 more clear:
(Since in some of the others part of requirement's doc examples of mitaka have
been used, since requirements document has gave examples of mitaka in some
parts, I've provided two examples from mitaka's documentation.)

1.creating provider networks using open Vswitch. :
http://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/networking-guide/scenario-provider-ovs.html

[G0]: This is our problem: “Unlike other scenarios, only administrators can
manage provider networks because they require configuration of physical network
infrastructure.”. Current OpenStack can not differentiate between cloud
administrator and network administrator roles.

2.creating provider networks using Linux bridge. :
http://docs.openstack.org/mitaka/networking-guide/scenario-provider-lb.html

[G0]: Same as for 1.

3.my own offered scenario, using group-based policy in openstack: I think by
using GBP in openstack , supported by neutron, we could define policy since The
GBP model also supports a redirect operation that makes complex network service
chains and graphs easy to abstract and consume. Network service chaining is a
mechanism for connecting multiple Layer 4 through 7 services such as load
balancers and firewalls.
Simply by becoming a member of a group, a virtual machine in each network
inherits all of the group’s policies, allowing developers to easily automate
scaling, both up and down.
[G0]: GBP is new for me. I’ve just checked a whitepaper [1] about it.
Isn’t it so that VM-s can be added to GBP-s and not users? For me it seems that
that GBP-s build on top of existing network constructs and they do not change
the user priviliges needed to configure them.

[opnfv-tech-discuss] [netready]: Use cases clarifications

2016-09-27 Thread Csatari, Gergely (Nokia - HU/Budapest)
Hi,

I would have some clarification questions to the use cases from the Jira:
*
NETREADY-7:
Document networking requirements for Edge Computing use cases
o Can someone elaborate, the high level use case behind this and the
concrete networking requirements?
*
NETREADY-13:
Document networking requirements for ECMP to VMs
o Is really multipath into the VPN is requested here or I just misread
something
Thanks,

Hi all,

Tricircle was officially accepted yesterday as a big-tent project.

The purpose of the Tricircle project is to provide networking automation
across Neutron in multi-region OpenStack clouds deployment.

Use cases for the Tricircle are described in
https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Tricircle#Use_Cases.

A brief introduction of Tricircle is provided here:

Each OpenStack cloud includes its own Nova, Cinder and Neutron, the
Neutron servers in these OpenStack clouds are called local Neuron
servers, all these local Neutron servers will be configured with the
Tricircle Local Neutron Plugin. A seperate Neutron server will be
installed and run standalone as the coordinator of networking automation
across local Neutron servers, this Neutron server will be configured
with the Tricircle Central Neutron Plugin, and is called central
Neutron server.

Leverage the Tricircle Central Neutron Plugin and the Tricircle Local
Neutron Plugin configured in these Neutron servers, the Tricircle can
ensure the IP address pool, IP/MAC address allocation and network
segment allocation being managed globally without conflict, and the
Tricircle handles tenant oriented data link layer(Layer2) or network
layer(Layer3) networking automation across local Neutron servers,
resources like VMs, bare metal or containers of the tenant can
communicate with each other via Layer2 or Layer3, no matter in which
OpenStack cloud these resources are running on.

How to start in Tricircle:
1. The best entry point for the Tricircle project is its wiki page:
https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Tricircle. Source code repository is
https://github.com/openstack/tricircle.

2. You can play it through devstack:
https://github.com/openstack/tricircle/blob/master/doc/source/multi-node-installation-devstack.rst

3. The design blueprint provides general overview on the ongoing discussion
on the design:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zcxwl8xMEpxVCqLTce2-dUOtB-ObmzJTbV1uSQ6qTsY/edit#

We are trying to tackle common use cases and challenges in OpenStack
multi-region cloud area, We welcome new contributors who wish to join our
effort.

We are holding a weekly IRC meeting:
Weekly on Wednesdays at 1300 UTC, IRC channel: #openstack-meeting

[opnfv-tech-discuss] ETSI NFV Call for Experts on OpenStack vs IFA00[56] gap analyzis

2016-12-21 Thread Csatari, Gergely (Nokia - HU/Budapest)
Hi,

There is an effort in ETSI NFV to identify the gaps between the specified VIM
NB API-s and the OpenStack NB API-s (what called TST003). We, who are working
on this item realized that we need to involve external expertise to have the
desired progress of the work.
ETSI NFV decided to start a task force and call for external experts. The task
is to analyze the API-s described in IFA005 and IFA006 and point out the gaps
compared to the OpenStack API-s (Closing the gaps either on NFV or in OpenStack
side is not in the scope of the work).
I'm sending this mail to you to draw your attention to this possibility as
experts in the OPNFV community have the right mix of knowledge for an applicant.

The deadline for application is 2017.01.16. Work starts in March and results
should be delivered by August.
More details are here:

In case of any questions please mail or irc (csatari on freenode) me.

Thanks for the quick analyzis.
The target of the current call for experts is only to identify the gaps. We are
not looking to one-to-one match for each information element and each operation
of IFA005 and 006 but looking for the same functionality provided by OpenStack.

2017-01-10 Thread Csatari, Gergely (Nokia - HU/Budapest)
Hi,

Exactly. We limit OpenStack to the projects with tc:approved-release tag and
the functionality should be accessible via a NB API (not an API designed for
communication between OpenStack components).

Ok. If IFA005/IFA006 is not defined as the API interface syntax, just for
functionality description, I think the gap is not so huge.

So only need to check for each interface defined in IFA005/IFA006 whether this
interface's function could be supported by OpenStack.

[opnfv-tech-discuss] [ha][netready]: Networking HA requirements

2017-02-22 Thread Csatari, Gergely (Nokia - HU/Budapest)
Hi,

I'm working on the netready requirements related to the HA of VIM networking.
I've created a patch to collect the requirements to the netready requirements
document: https://gerrit.opnfv.org/gerrit/#/c/28283/

I have trouble to identify the gaps to the current OpenStack solution.
Is it really so, that all Neutron functionality is available after a failover?
I've checked the HA Requirements
doc
 and the Gap analyzis
documents
and based on these I could not find any missing thing. Is the situation really
this good or am I overlooking something?

Some comments to HA people:

1) On the wiki the link to "High availability scenario analysis doc"
points to releases_brahmaputra_ha_requirement.pdf

2) In releases_brahmaputra_ha_requirement.pdf Chapter 6.1.2 there is a
typo in the link, so it renders badly

Thanks,
Gerg0

Hi all:
   As JackChen (chenjiank...@huawei.com<mailto:chenjiank...@huawei.com>) do
a huge help for container4nfv , and finish two jira tasks. Then our project can
pass MS5 in E release, that’s important step for our project:

  1. https://jira.opnfv.org/browse/CONTAINER-18 Create ping test case(k8s) in
yardstick
  2. https://jira.opnfv.org/browse/CONTAINER-17 Add kubernetes context in
yardstick

Another thing is JackChen can attend weekly meeting every week. He is so active
in our project. So please kindly give your vote for nominating JackChen as a
commiter for Container4NFV.

My vote is : +1 .

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [opnfv-tech-discussion][Edge Cloud] minutes for weekly meeting on May 30th

2018-06-03 Thread Csatari, Gergely (Nokia - HU/Budapest)
Hi,

I’ve already started to have a discussion with Keystone people in the Vancouver
Summit about the related requirements [3]. The notes from and before the
meeting are put to [1] and I put the conclusions to [2].

Is there anything OPNFV Edge Cloud related what is missing on top of these?

Br,
Gerg0

Hi Team,

Since Qihui is out of office, I helped her mark down the minutes of the meeting
this week.

Minutes for meeting on May 30th:
Minutes:

* last week's OpenStack summit recap

* Move the requirement etherpad to gerrit

* Pasi suggested that describe each service briefly

* Other edge site descriptions and SDN controller comparison are
welcome to add to the requirement document

Actions:

* Schedule a private meeting with OPNFV Phraos team and OpenStack
EC/Keystone/... team to have a deep cooperation

* Qihui will build a patch to move the requirement document to gerrit

* You are welcome to add comments or suggestions on the comparison of
available SDN controllers

Next week’s meeting will be a F2F meeting due to OPNFV plugefest and the ZOOM
is also available. The exact time is next Monday. June 4, UTC 14:30-15:30.
Qiao will be there and she give more introduction about edge cloud project.
