Is OVN4NFV or container4NFV groups the right place to work on these? If you

Re: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [OVN4NFV] [Container4NFV] OVN Changes

2018-07-31 Thread Srini
Hi Trinath,

Thank you for offering to host the modified OVN in OVN4NFV.
I see two links to the repository - One in github and another in git of OPNFV.
When do you use one over another?
We like to start the work rightaway. Let us know the next steps.

Thanks
Srini

Since we are not currently working on updates to actual OVN/OVS source code, we
haven't forked the OVS repo to the project repo.

With our current work on OVN SFC, we are using John's OVN SFC 3.0 repo [2]
which is forked from OVS and maintained separately in github.

Please share you views/ideas on how you are planning to land the fixes. We can
either have directory in ovn4nfv repo with relevant tags/branch or the ovs repo
forked into external git.

Also, it would of be great help for our project if you can give suggestions
incorporating those upcoming changes to our next milestones on OVN-CN-VM hybrid
scenarios.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more info/help.

Subject: [opnfv-tech-discuss] [OVN4NFV] [Container4NFV] OVN Changes

Hi,

I understand that OVN4NFV group is trying to make sure that OVN is viable
option for NFV deployments and Container4NFV group is working on using
containers for NFV. In ONAP community, we are trying to create a reference
deployment for edges based on Kubernetes and provide service orchestration via
ONAP. For data plane network containers, multiple virtual interfaces and
multi-homing is a typical requirement. Currently, OVN (even with Multus) does
not have a way to provide this support. We, at Intel, working on this to fix
the issues in OVN. Since the changes are only relevant for NFV, I am not sure
how fast the OVN community would accept those changes.

Is OVN4NFV or container4NFV groups the right place to work on these? If you
agree, what is the right place (repositories) to make these changes? I tried
to search whether there is any fork of OVN in OVN4NFV project. I did not see
any. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Srini
