*Job Responsibilities*

As an Oracle Database Administrator, you'll need to manage multiple
projects simultaneously, and make the best decisions in the moment and in
the long-term for the company. Key responsibilities span 2 areas:

Analysis

Analyzes database performance, modifying DBMS parameters to improve
throughput and effectively utilize system resources.

Monitors database resource usage, making required adjustments.

Undertakes complex database projects requiring additional specialized
technical knowledge.

Advises on the appropriate application of database technology to TU systems
development.

Makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous database issues.

Coordinates with users and management to determine requirements.





*Support*

Ensures that database improvements are successfully implemented and
monitored to increase efficiency.

Participate in on-call production support activities, using the technical
knowledge and capability to handle all problems that may arise.

Performs all standard and complex DBA functions including partition table
space management, performance tuning, physical database design, data
replication management, logical database design, complex recovery
management, SQL coding and optimization techniques, etc.

Liaises with database software vendors on issues with open systems DBMS's,
such as software upgrades, fixes and patches necessary for the software.

Oversees or performs the installation and testing of upgrades working with
the systems and applications teams.



*Technical Skills*

Thorough knowledge of Oracle, RAC, Data Guard and Grid Control

Industry certified.

Understanding of advanced physical database design concepts like database
partitioning, denormalization, buffer pool tuning, and index optimization.

Solid knowledge of relational theory, and understanding of the benefits and
purposes of "3rd normal form" and star schemas.

Strong knowledge of at least one scripting language.

Excellent knowledge of SQL.

Is fully cognizant of a project lifecycle and where database administration
services fits in.

Monitor data growth and re-organize the table structures in separate
tablespaces.

Developing appropriate support structure – indexes, partitions

Must be fully experienced in supporting databases in AIX and Linux

Troubleshoot and resolve RAC and Veritas clustering issues in all database
environments
Performs all Oracle Database Administration related activities for major
client projects independently with minimal supervision.
Strong capability and ability to resolve highly technical and complex
database and infrastructure related issues on their own before they impact
production and client business.
Provides technical expertise to the development of solutions for such items
as DBMS tools and utilities usage, database administration, backup and
recovery, database performance tuning and monitoring.
Assures quality of database analysis and design across projects, thus
enabling company-wide data reusability.
Trouble-shoots database and/or software problems as they apply to design,
implementation, or installation activities.
Schedules and coordinates database maintenance activities.
Coordinates and/or participates in database stress tests, analyzes results,
and makes recommendations for design or coding changes based upon those
results.
Participates in on-call, overnight off-hour production problem resolution
activities.
Develops and maintains DBMS related standards and procedures, knows where
they are located, and makes full use of them.  Follows client software

- Candidate should have extensive experience in performance and tuning of
OLTP and Data warehouse applications. 
- Knowledge of MSSQL and/or Sybase, though not essential, would be highly
desirable. 
- Sybase and SQL are optional as long as the candidate is extremely strong
in Oracle. 
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
- Successful candidates should have an in depth knowledge of large and very
large databases (warehousing), performance & tuning (dataserver & code), key
configuration parameters, version features and platform specific replication
technologies as these skills are used on a routine basis.

- Must be able to perform tasks quickly and accurately in a high pressure

   - Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
   - Database / UNIX –AIX OS / hardware performance tuning
   - 4 to 5 years of solid prior experience in designing and architecting
   database infrastructure (database, storage and applications) and solutions
   in a clustered and non-clustered environments
   - Oracle upgrade from 10g to 11g
   - UNIX shell scripting automating procedures
   - Oracle Enterprise Manager (Grid) implementations
   - Very strong capabilities troubleshooting database issues

Must have Performance Tuning, 11g, BCV, SRDF

Should have excellent communication skills, able to interface at the
customer & internal teams
