Hi, I have 256mb RAM,60GB of hard disk,P3 MACHINE.I'm having installation of oracle 817 on linux 7.2. I got error during oracle relinking.DOes any one have such problem earlier? Hi, I have hotbackup for x date.I want to create clone to another box on Linux(Oracle9i). is it possible to clone with same instance name on diffrent box with diffrent file location?I think yes. Still you have installation problem? If this is the case delete entry from registry/uninstalled/delete files from program file directory and installed. After that if you still run into the same problem you may try Go to http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.1/jre/download-jre-windows.html and download JDK/JRE 1.1.8_008 for Windows. Install the new JDK/JRE. After installation copy the ..\bin\symcjit.dll and ..\bin\jvm.dll to your $ ORACLE _HOME\JRE11\bin\ directory. When I used query SELECT id FROM test_table WHERE LENGTH(testcolu) = 0; I received error like ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes I'm on 8163. Let me know if you have any thoughts. Hi, I have Oracle8163 on Sun and Sun 8160 clients.Applications are running fine.We are planning to migrate to app box on Linux 7.1.We Installed Oracle client 9.2.0.1 on linux box.When we are running couple of applications which are having CLOB column,We are getting some error on DB box(Sun Box) and some error on client box(Linux). Sun box (DB error) ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [ttci2u()+2356] [SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [0] [] [] On Linux box(Client box) exception 3113, ora8.c:2161:ora_get_row: error in `OCILobRead ()': ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel Meta link say its due to platform diffrent and OCI layer which is fixed in Oracle 9.2. Like table with 2 columns ID and testcolu .ID is desc test_table Name Null? Hi, I have been running oracle8163 since long time on sun platform ,no error seen earlier but since we are planning to migrate to use webserver as linux box instead of sun.We have been noticing error ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [ttci2u()+2356] [SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [0] [] [] some times.We are using AOL Web server.Looks like when we webpage hitting empty_clob() initiliasation then AOLserver got creahsed and core dumped at DB server. Hi, I have following question? Basically making a column type as Clob - instead of varchar2(4000) - how much extra overhead (as far as bytes/size) will it add to the table size? I have a table with 6000 rows, and about 500 of them have 1 column with more that 4000 chars, so they need to go to a clob column. now I just want to know if I make a clob column and put the bigger column into clob for all the 6000 rows, how much disk space would I waste by doing this, or would Oracle use the space efficient enough on the clobs so that I shouldn't worry about size ? Other question is it true that Clobs are generally slower even the data in them are small ? Hi, I have been noticing db file scattered read and db file sequential read with one of instance. Does increasing parameter DB_FILE_MULTIBLOCK_READ_COUNT would help or not? regarding db file sequential read what to do? without striping the files across the disk? A sequential read is a single-block read which read data into contiguous memory space. WIth another instance I am looking control file parallel write wait events. Does changing the location of control file would help? Hi I have data guard setup.When I run select file#,status,enabled,checkpoint_change#,checkpoint_time,name from v$datafile on primary site its looks ok.But on standby site some of datafiles are showing status RECOVER. Log shipping and dataguard log is showing ok.Nothing on alert log either of primary or standby.What could be reason?How to fix this problem if this is? PERFORMANCE ISSUE

Harvinder I think u have to restore complete from cold backup and create controlfile including 3 datafiles also and bring back to database and then u can drop tablespaces. OR at current stage.did u status in check v_$datafile and v_$tablespace dictionary table ?
