Re: Autoextend on Oracle 7.3.4.5.0

2003-02-22 Thread Rachel Carmichael
It's possible they were, I never worked in 7.2. However, I have a real,
honest-to-goodness hard-bound book of the Oracle7 SQL Reference manual
(7.0) and the clause autoexend is not in there. So we've narrowed
down the time when autoextend was introduced.

2003-02-21 Thread Rachel Carmichael
not a patch, just that sys.filext$ isn't created until at least one
datafile has been made autoextensible. Once you do that, it stays
around and you can check that table to find out which datafiles can
extend. If it's there, it can.

sys.filext$ still exists in 9i, I just checked :)

filext$ is not dropped once created, even if there are no rows in it.

then you can do the join. If a datafile is IN filext$, it is set for

I think they were introduced in 7.2?

Subject:Re: Autoextend on Oracle 7.3.4.5.0

sys.filext$ has to be joined to to the dba_data_files view.

however, if no tablespace has ever been put into autoextend mode,
filext$ won't exist.

what I've done in the past to ensure the queries will work is to put
a
datafile into autoextend mode (this creates filext$), then take it
out.
filext$ is not dropped once created, even if there are no rows in it.

then you can do the join. If a datafile is IN filext$, it is set for
autoextend
