It seems for me the block 134552 was corrupted!!.I think I have option to repair that block or drop temp tablespce!! Raghu, I would try and create a new tablespace (name it TEMP1, type=temporary) while running, and alter the user's accounts to point to the new tablespace. Wait awhile, and try and drop the old TEMP tablespace. Seems to me that if there are temporary segments in use, Oracle will not let you drop the tablespace. If all else fails, kick the users off, drop and re-create the TEMP tablespace. hope this helps. You can also increase your SORT_AREA_SIZE parameter in the initDBNAME.ora. This will allow more of your sorting to be done in memory rather on disk. Alter session set SORT_AREA_SIZE= ; You don't have to change the init.ora just for rebuilding index. But if index is large , I still prefer dropping and recreating it. How much free disk space do you have? If your index is 6gigs, you will need a like amount of temp space to accomodate the sorting.
