Re: Oracle 9i reports
This was true even for 6i after about patchset 6, IIRC. Many notes on metalink concerning this. In a nutshell.. 1. install VNC 2. start a vnc server at a specific screen address, such as 11 3. add a "export DISPLAY=host:11" to the .profile of the reports server. 4. go have a beer. Unable to view reports in web browser using OEM console.
I have been using the following setup. Windows 2000 Prof. / Oracle 9.0.1 / OEM 9.0.1 While using OEM console, when I want to view the database report, it just popup a DOS windows, but it does not show the report in the web browser. But on the other hand, I can view the reports by opening the web browser to reporting web site http://myserver:3339/. Any idea what I can do to integrate my web browser with the OEM console. Thanks. Re: Recent reports on outages caused by DB2 and 9iRAC issues
my 2¢ is it all depends on who you are. A few good ones I'm aware of. Confessors within the last 9 months, I know of one company where a DBA (unknown to mgt.) inadvertently dropped something and was able to fix it within a few minutes. I'm not sure if anyone other than operations noticed. Mgt. response: his mistake would be recognized on his yearly bonus. A couple months later at the same company, a well known DBA (one of the boys) brought down the web database for a couple of hours. Nothing was said. Mgt. response "We all make mistakes. Be more careful". Cowards A few years earlier at the same company, I remember a DBA who was doing maintenance and messed up. He never confessed to creating the problem, but did take credit for fixing it. Mgt. response: he was awarded a certificate for "Going the Extra Mile"... :) Steve - Original Message - To: "Multiple recipients of list ORACLE-L" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, July 18, 2003 1:34 PM > I've only made one mistake in my life and that was the time when I > thought I was wrong. ;-) > > OK, getting serious... One of the drivers managed to spin in turn 4 of the first lap of the race, and subsequently was unable to finish the race. Before continuing, you need to know that when in a corner, one thing you should *never* do is take your foot off of the gas pedal. The resulting weight transfer will greatly reduce the amount of weight on the rear tires, and could easily cause you to spin. Back to the story: The driver was interviewed shortly afterward in the pits, and put the blame squarely on the car. "It was something with the car". Technology in the form of an onboard camera told another story. He let off the gas twice in turn 4. The first time the rear of the car squirmed a bit and he recovered. The second time it sounded like he completely released the accelerator, and the spin came shortly afterwards. He could have been a smart guy too, if he had remembered the camera. I've looked under oem_webstage and other directories but can't seem to find the files. oem_webstage has the index.html that shows the RESULTANT HTML of executing the report, but not the actual code to generate the report. RMAN reports
Hello everyone, I am woundering if anyone on the list has scripts written to create backup reports for all databases registered in an RMAN catalog directly from the RMAN catalog tables. I am looking for advice on the simplest way to report on the status of backups for many, many enterprise databases.. I do not want to run reports through rman for each instance.. I would like to query the rc_* tables directly to gather information about the success or failure of every database backed up to the catalog on a daily basis... I want this information on one daily report that will identify all successful backups, all failed backups, and all backups that did not run for any reason. I am finding it difficult to cull this information based on the rman catalog tables.. each backup contains dozens of pieces and each can fail or succeeed on it's own and therefore constitute the failure of the overall job..Also, the data, controlfile, and archivelogs are all seperate backups but all must suc! ceed in order to be valid. the other complication is that backups run at different times and I could be looking at an incomplete view of backup data at any given time.. The report would have to take this into account as well. As you can tell this reporting is not a trivial task but I am hoping someone out there has tackled this issue in some creative way... I cannot believe that oracle does not offer a more comprehensive consolidated view for all backups.. maybe I am missing something key here but so far it has been a real pain to keep track of all the backups running in our enterprise. TIA Jim Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo.

Oracle Forms and Reports Services
Does anyone use the Oracle Forms and Reports services to serve Forms and Reports apps through the web? We have a setup running here on a Solaris system and there are quirks (like starting the Reports service under a VNC session) and frequent crashes. I'm wondering whether there are preferred platform choices and configurations for these services which would provide better reliability. Do most site run these services on Windows? We are running the app server and Forms and Reports services on the same machine; could that be part of the problem? Oracle Forms & Reports Help!
Hi, This could be a very simple question to many of you.. but I would really appreciate if you could help me. I created "Forms" which call each other. And a "Report" from the "Form". Everything seems to be good. However I am calling the Form through "call_form()" where I am specifying the entire path of the called form. Is there any way to specify an absolute path (just the name of the called form)?? Similarly... I am running the report with run_product() even here I am specifying the entire path of the Report. Which I don't want to... can I? One more question... How can I automatically view and print the report in pdf format?? This is really urgent! I would really appreciate your help and time. Hi Kumar, In my company I have several report that also print the barcode. I think it isn't big deal if you have font that support the character of barcode. RE: Barcode Generation in Forms/Reports
Nitheesh, Please note that bar code is no special thing other than representing characters in bars. You can use a font called bar code font that represents characters as bars. A free version is available to download at www.idautomation.com The barcode device connected to a computer reads the barcode, and writes its equivalent numbers at current cursor position. If you cursor is in a text item in a forms it will display the numbers there, if you cursor is in a text editor like notepad it will write the numbers there. As if it was typed in through a keyboard. Now if you set the font of the field to the barcode font, these characters will be displayed as a barcode. Both forms and reports support barcode font. HTH! OEM 9.2 - scheduled reports
Hi all, Yes, I'm still on the OEM adventure... I've got some customised reports in OEM that I'd like to schedule to run at certain intervals. I've finally managed to get this going. However, if I select a number of databases for the reports to run against, the output just comes into a single HTML file. Further, each section lists all the databases. eg. For a storage report, I've got the following sections: 1) tablespace 2) segment usage 3) datafiles If I selected the report to run against databases PROD1, PROD2, and PROD3 the single HTML file would display the result in this order: 1) tablespace a) PROD1 b) PROD2 c) PROD3 2) segment usage a) PROD1 b) PROD2 c) PROD3 3) datafiles a) PROD1 b) PROD2 c) PROD3 What I'd really like is a single HTML file per database. Failing that I'd like the reports grouped by databases, then by section. eg: 1) PROD1 1) tablespace 2) segment usage 3) datafiles 2) PROD2 1) tablespace 2) segment usage 3) datafiles 3) PROD3 1) tablespace 2) segment usage 3) datafiles Short of creating a report per database and then scheduling a job to run per report, how would I go about this? I've got a lot of databases running around here. Help! OEM 9.2: breaks in reports
Hello again, Does anyone know how to add breaks in a SQL output for OEM reports? ie. the SQL for "table from SELECT statement" What I need is something similar to this in SQL*Plus: break on owner on table_name Or even just a blank line between each break. Is this possible? How do I go about doing it? The query I've got is something along this line: select c.owner, c.table_name, c.constraint_name, c2.column_name,c.constraint_type, c.search_condition from dba_constraints c, dba_cons_columns c2,dba_tab_columns t where c.owner not in ('SYS', 'SYSTEM','OUTLN','DBSNMP','OPS$ORACLE','ORDSYS','PERFSTAT') and c.table_name = c2.table_name and c.constraint_name = c2.constraint_name and c.owner = c2.owner and t.owner = c2.owner and t.table_name = c2.table_name and t.column_name = c2.column_name -- check constraints and ( (t.nullable != 'N' and c.constraint_type = 'C') -- non-check constraints or (c.constraint_type != 'C') ) and c.owner = t.owner and c.table_name = t.table_name order by 1,2,3,4,c2.position / TIA, Leng. -- Leng Kaing Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Phone: +61-417-371-348 -- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.net -- Author: Kaing, Leng INET: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fat City Network Services-- 858-538-5051 http://www.fatcity.com San Diego, California-- Mailing list and web hosting services - To REMOVE yourself from this mailing list, send an E-Mail message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (note EXACT spelling of 'ListGuru') and in the message BODY, include a line containing: UNSUB ORACLE-L (or the name of mailing list you want to be removed from). RE: variables in reports
If the value is not dependent on the parameters entered by the user then you can have it a user parameter not displayed in the parameter form. Alternatively, you can also use a placeholder column to achieve the same. You can place it outside of any group.
