[OGD] Setting the Record Straight (OT)

2006-03-26 Thread Peter O'Byrne
Sharon and Buzz (who I'd advise to read his own "Moral") have attacked Iris, but have completely ignored the source of this dispute George W. Bush. What he said to the media last Wednesday is a matter of record. Now, if I was to sit here in Singapore and say that I was in Iraq, you'd describe me as delusional and question my sanity, wouldn't you ?

Personally, I don't think G.W.Bush is a nincompoop. He's far more dangerous than that.

Good reply, Iris.

We can only hope that the incompetence and the criminal behavior of
the Republicans with power have made enough of an impression on the
electorate who voted them in to also vote them out.

But I wonder if Peter and Guido, rightly outraged at Bush, are also
outraged at the Afghanistan authorities who would put to death a
moslem-convert-to-christianity... I've not seen any dissent from the
moslem world on this, but maybe I'm not reading the right news sources.

Not a fan of any religion, myself.

There is an article in today's paper that a few legislators in New England are actually talking about investigation towards impeachment. That is reported fact, not my opinion.

<>
That is an observation, not an opinion. How many pro-Bush cartoons have you seen lately? I admit the only daily newspaper I read regularly is the Syracuse Post-Standard, not a hotbed of socialism. It carries a balanced diet of columnists, but all the cartoons are anti-Bush. All the cartoons from other newspapers, which are printed on Saturday, are anti-Bush.

<< Even the moderate Republicans are beginning to disagree with him.>>
Reported in the newspaper, not my opinion.
OK, my opinion, clearly, is that Bush is an incompetent nincompoop, and a liar to boot. 38% of Americans do not share that opinion.
Back to orchids. Much to my surprise, Masd. tuerckheimii & Tolu. Charlotte Ray won ribbons at the Genesee Region Orchid Society show. M. tuerckheimii is a delight for someone who up to now was not successful growing Pleurothallids in a warm environment. It hangs a circle of Restrepia-like flowers around the edge of the pot. I haven't timed them, but they last & last. It also reblooms on old racemes. What more do you want?

Just a note to Peter & our other overseas friends who are wondering why the US calmly allows Bush to go on his merry way.
Well, we are a civilized country & we are not about to send a carbomb to the White House. However, the polls (a major American institution) show that Bush's approval rating is plummeting into the basement. The main reason he has not been impeached is because that would make Dick Cheney president. ;-) The average American does not see him as a war criminal, but as an incompetent nincompoop. All the newspaper cartoons I've seen and all but one of the comic strips are blatantly anti-Bush. Even the moderate Republicans are beginning to disagree with him.
We have a major Congressional election coming up this fall. The oracles are predicting that the Senate, which is almost evenly divided, will go Democratic. The House is an enigma. The Republicans would have to lose, I think, 35 seats in order for the Democrats to have a majority. Nobody knows what will happen. Unfortunately, the Democratic party is very lackluster these days. Many of the elections will be determined by local personalities.
