[Origami] Paper Coating

2016-05-18 Thread Dee and Bob
Has anyone used Minwax Polycrylic to preserve small models? My daughter
wants to make some earrings and has been told that this product does well.

Is there something else that people like?

Dee

For jewelry I find polyacrylic to be an excellent finishing choice. I
transfer it for storage to a glass container with a metal screw cap.

Heating the completed piece will harden the finish.
Several of my Origami jewelry pieces can be seen at

Many examples of my paper jewelry finished with polyacrylic can be seen at

[Origami] Origami teacher wanted -- Shenlik Festival, Clifton NJ, Saturday May 28, 5pm

2016-05-18 Thread Karen Reeds
Hi, 5/18/2016

I just got a call from Mr. Deniz Gunes, representing the Shenlik Turkish
cultural festival, http://shenlik.com/ which will be held over Memorial
Day weekend, 2016 in Clifton NJ (Passaic County, northern NJ). They are
looking for someone to teach origami for 1-2 hours on Saturday afternoon,
 May 28, starting at 5:00pm.

If I could, I'd do it myself just for the food! Turkish food is wonderful!

Here is what I know. The teaching will be done outside under a tent. They
will provide tables, chairs. You should discuss who provides paper. It
might be possible to negotiate an honorarium. I assume that you'd be
teaching beginners in noisy surroundings, so easy traditional models like
the Newspaper Hat would be good choices (rather than the eye-catching,
complex model shown on the festival's website program). You can see the
layout and pictures of the festival on the Gallery page.

The festival address is:
492 Clifton Ave, Clifton, NJ 07011 (not far from the Garden State Parkway
and Rte 46 interchange).
It's held under the auspices of the
Turkish American Educational and Cultural Foundation of NJ.

If you are interested, please call or email Deniz Gunes directly (not me!)
as soon as possible:
