Re: [Origami] Origamee is no more

Thank you Robert, for setting that up.

As part of that memoriam page that Robert set up, there is a link to an article
that Meenakshi herself wrote,
for the occasion of her 20th anniversary for her website and 10th anniversary
of her first book,
and OUSA has made that article publicly readable.

The family has just recently posted additional details on her Instagram feed, I
think anyone should be able to read this as well:

Still trying to sort out what to write on that page...

Hi All,
It's unfortunate and shocking, to hear the news of losing one of the wonderful
kind hearted Origami artists.

Earlier today, we lost Meenakshi Mukherjee to cancer. She put up a valiant
fight against it for the past few months. This comes just 3 months after her
losing her mother.

Oh my. I had a lot of interactions with Meenakshi over the years on a variety
of topics and had no idea she was ill. She was a gifted folder in many genres.

We have a Memoriam section on the OrigamiUSA website, and if anyone would be willing
to send me a paragraph or two about her (and a photo if you have one). I’d be happy
to put the page together and open it for comments from people with their
remembrances. (You can contact me about this off-list at webs...@origamiusa.org

I am also very shocked and saddened by Meenakshi's passing. She recently
provided a diagram to OrigamiUSA as a gift for filling out our recent
survey. RIght to the end, she was a generous artist.

If anyone has contact information for her family I would appreciate it. I
would like to offer condolences from OrigamiUSA and arrange for an obituary
in The Paper.

Please contact me off this list at wzeich...@gmail.com.

Thanks,
/Wendy

This is really devastating news. Meenakshi was a wonderful person and a
great teacher.
I met her first at the Origami USA convention more than 20 years ago. She
was in NYC to receive her "Lone folder award". I attended her class where
she taught one of her cube modulars. She had not published her books at the
time.
My prayers for the family to have the courage and strength to bear this
loss.

Nikhil, thank you for letting us know. I am caught totally off-guard by this
sad news. Meenakshi was truly wonderful and kind-hearted, as you say, and
wonderfully creative and unpretentious. We were guests together at a convention
in Mexico City, and thanks to that situation, we had the opportunity to talk
quite a bit, and even sat down for a while to sing together. I was glad to get
to know her and I’m sorry I practically haven’t seen her since then. She will
be missed. My condolences to her family.
