Re: [osg-users] Visual Studio 2010 3rd Party

2010-08-12 Thread Dženan Zukić
Hi,

Yes, there is an interest in x64 binaries for VS2010. To build most of them for
2008 x64 took me a few days (windows versions of the libraries were all
pre-configured for x32, and they required a bit of tinkering). I would like to
avoid it this time (if possible).

Also, most people nowadays have 4GB of ram or more (myself: 4 at home 12 at
work), and to make use of it you must compile everything in x64.

Thank you!

Cheers,
Dženan

Re: [osg-users] Visual Studio 2010 3rd Party

2010-07-30 Thread Christiansen, Brad
Hi,

I have finished building the 3rd party libs using VS2010. I have compiled OSG
without issue, though I have not done any testing. VPB fails to link against
osgDB due to a duplicate symbol for the destructor of an iostream. I had this
issue last time I used 2010. I have forced the link and am about to do some
testing of VPB.

The way I have structured things seems to result in the auto-detection of the
libs in cmake to fail in many cases so I had to manually specify locations but
this isn't too big an issue for now. I would love to get some feedback on
whether all the libs are working ok.

What is included:
freetype
gdal (no debug)
gif
glut
jpeg
collada (no debug, takes a lot of effort to build this one!)
curl (no ssl for now)
png
tif
squish
zlib

This isn't a complete list but it is a good starting point. It would be great
if people could add some of the others over time. once they have been tested I
will look at getting them posted to the OSG wiki.

http://members.iinet.net.au/~bchrist/3rdPartyLib.zip

Good luck,

Cheers,

Brad

Forgot to mention, I have only built the 32 bit binaries. If there is demand
for 64 bit then I will look at building them too.

I have now tested my VPB build (with the force option to work-around the link
error) and it works fine.

2010-07-22 Thread Michael Weiblen
Hi,

Way back when I built a package of 3rdParty binaries for my OSG 2.4
installer w/ VS8, I tried to capture all the cookbook steps in
scripts. All that info is available at
http://osgtoy.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/osgtoy/3rdParty/  With
general updating of version info, those scripts will hopefully be a
big step fwd.

My entire build process for OSG on Windows, including binary installer
generation using Inno Setup, is also in that repo.

Hi jason,

If you are using VS 2010 and you build your libraries with VS 2010, everthing
should be fine as long as you compiled for the same architecture (32 or 64 bit
).

If you have linking issues while building your OSG, please play a little bit
with the static or dynamic versions of your library. I had also some errors but
managed them by switchgung from static to dynamic or vice versa.

I hope you manage to build the libraries!

Re: [osg-users] Visual Studio 2010 3rd Party

2010-07-16 Thread Jason Alexander
Hi,

Let me clarify...

OSG Links fine. Many DLL's in my application link fine. However, I find that
in two specific DLL's, if I link in the OSG libraries, I get a linker error
relating to std.

Code:

foo.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __declspec(dllimport)
public: void __thiscall std::basic_ifstreamchar,struct std::char_traitschar
::`vbase destructor'(void)
(__imp_??_d?$basic_ifstr...@du?$char_traits@d...@std@@@std@@QAEXXZ) referenced
in function .

foo.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __declspec(dllimport)
public: void __thiscall std::basic_ifstreamchar,struct std::char_traitschar
::close(void)
(__imp_?cl...@?$basic_ifstream@du?$char_tra...@d@std@@@std@@QAEXXZ) referenced
in function ..

foo.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __declspec(dllimport)
public: bool __thiscall std::basic_ifstreamchar,struct std::char_traitschar
::is_open(void)const
(__imp_?is_o...@?$basic_ifstream@du?$char_tra...@d@std@@@std@@QBE_NXZ)
referenced in function ..

foo.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __declspec(dllimport)
public: __thiscall std::basic_ifstreamchar,struct std::char_traitschar
::basic_ifstreamchar,struct std::char_traitschar (char const *,int,int)
(__imp_??0?$basic_ifstr...@du?$char_traits@d...@std@@@std@@q...@pbdhh@Z)
referenced in function ..

These are the only calls to ifstream in the DLL. Other DLL's that do NOT link
in OSG do not give this error and, if I take out the references to OSG and
recompile this DLL, I do not get these errors but the function calls are still
in there.

I recompiled all of OSG in VS2010 with the proper settings hoping that would
resolve the issues, but it did not. Then I started to rebuild the 3rd party
libraries, but there are quite a few and I was hoping that someone would be
able to send me or link me to some pre-built files so I can press on with my
work.

If there was a way to narrow down which library caused this issue, I would love
to learn about it. Short of that, I would like to get this application running
on VS2010 and not have to roll back to 2008.

Thank you!

Cheers,
Jason
