Execute Troy Davis http://www.redstate.com/erick/2011/09/21/there-is-no-travesty-of-justice-in -georgia-executive-troy-davis/ Posted by Erick Erickson http://www.redstate.com/erick/ (Profile http://www.redstate.com/users/erick/ ) Wednesday, September 21st at 10:40PM EDT 40 Comments Tonight the United States Supreme Court declined to stay Troy Davis's execution. He will, by the time many of you are reading this, be dead. There were no expressions of dissent or objection from any of the 9 members of the Supreme Court. I like Guy Benson a lot, but his column on Troy Davis got my blood pressure up. http://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2011/09/21/the_death_penalty_and_a_t ravesty_of_justice_in_georgia I'm hearing a lot from people opposed to Troy Davis's execution that there is no physical evidence in the case - and a whole lot of other hoo-haa. First of all, let's set out that the case has been going on for twenty years. Second, let's point out that two witnesses at Davis's trial testified under oath that Troy Davis admitted to the shooting. Yes, those witnesses have now, twenty years and much badgering by anti-death penalty advocates later, recanted. A federal judge spent two days reviewing the evidence and the testimony last year and issued a 172 page order explaining why the witnesses recanting was smoke and mirrors. In fact, one of the chief nuggets of the case is that there was no physical evidence. Except that is crap. There is the matter of Troy Davis's bloody clothes that you've probably never heard of. There was a .38 caliber gun. Both Troy Davis and the man Davis's team claims in the real murderer, Sylvester Coles, had a .38 caliber gun. Davis's gun had been used in another shooting and the gun casing were linked between both shootings. Everyone likes to gloss over that. They point out that the man who claimed Davis fired on him has now recanted - yet again 20 years later. But here are some additional facts - if we're going to deal with things that weren't in contention twenty years ago. The federal courts and state courts in Georgia have all denied Davis's appeal. Prior to 2008, Georgia's Supreme Court was decidedly liberal and even they passed. For the first time in 50 years the United States Supreme Court ordered a federal court to conduct an entire rehearing of all the evidence. The court did and found all the new stuff was, again, smoke and mirrors, including the retracted confessions. And while building the case to claim that Sylvester Coles was the real murderer, the defense would not call Coles in for examination. But then there is Officer MacPhail himself and what the defense all too conveniently forgets to bring up. Officer MacPhail testified at Troy Davis's murder trial. See, MacPhail, an Army Ranger and police officer was working a second job that night as a security guard. He chased Davis and Sylvester Coles, who were assaulting a homeless man over a beer. MacPhail reported in that he had run passed Sylvester Coles. MacPhail was shot from the front in the chest and face - not from behind where Coles was, but from the front where MacPhail himself located Troy Davis. And then, if we really want to get into the weeds and talk about facts, consider this fact. Troy Davis immediately became the suspect and fled. Police roped off his house, obtained entry, and searched the home. In the laundry they found Troy Davis's shorts from that night with evidence on the clothing directly tying him to Officer MacPhail's murder - Officer MacPhail's blood. (editorial note: it should be noted that Troy Davis's shorts were not DNA tested. There were multiple people's blood on his shorts) According to Darrell Collins, who is now recanting everything or claiming not to remember anything, Davis admitted to Collins that Davis had shot MacPhail in the chest and then went back to shoot MacPhail in the head at close range because MacPhail had seen his face - hence MacPhail's blood on Davis's shorts. Oh, and at the time Collins gave his statement way back in 1989 it was not public knowledge that Officer MacPhail had been shot in the chest and then at close range in the face. (remember as well that there were 34 witnesses, not the 9 as claimed. The defense claims seven witnesses changed their testimony. That's actually not true. Only two materially changed their testimony and Davis's attorneys refused to present those two in federal court in 2010 to be examined in the evidentiary hearing even though they sat outside the courtroom door. Among the eyewitnesses were three airmen in the Air Force in a bus who had prime viewing for the murder and all identified Troy Davis as the wearer of the white Batman t-shirt, which is what the murderer wore) Of

They were said to be members of the 'islamist' and pro-Palestinian groups Forsane Alizza and Euro-Palestine. For about 20 minutes, the Muslims prevented passengers from boarding. According to an eyewitness, a horde of savages terrorised, threatened and intimidated passengers. Police summoned reinforcements to deal with the situation. Around a dozen people were arrested and charged with public order offences. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] -- Want to discuss this topic? http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.viewpageId=347045 pageId=347045 Analysts warn U.S. about Turkey's instability Longtime ally and NATO member now in confrontation with Israel _ Posted: September 21, 2011 8:38 pm Eastern By Michael Carl C 2011 WND Analysts are warning the U.S., and its ally Israel, about the instability they see in Turkey, where Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called Israel the biggest impediment to Middle East peace, has demanded Israel apologize for defending itself, and has suggested his nation's military might enable blockade runners to move against Israel's weapons blockade of the Gaza Strip. Heritage Foundation foreign policy analyst Ariel Cohen believes that Turkey is not only setting itself up for confrontation with Israel, but with the U. S. as well. This is a headlong collision because the Obama administration does not want recognition of the Palestinian state at the U.N., Cohen said. American Enterprise Institute's Middle East analyst Michael Rubin says Turkey's actions and closer alignment with the Islamic world in recent days demonstrate that Turkey is not a good fit for the freedom-focused North Atlantic Treaty Organization, of which it is a member. (Story continues below) http://altfarm.mediaplex.com/ad/ck/18784-134253-39616-0?mpt=%5bCACHEBUSTER% 5dmpvc= http://img-cdn.mediaplex.com/0/18784/134253/921d08.jpg While Turkey was an important Cold War ally, increasingly Turkey has become a liability to the United States and NATO, Rubin said. The issue is not Israel and the current conflict: Rather, the more Erdogan reaches out to China and Iran, and the more he controls the military, the greater the risk to the United States and NATO of the leakage of our most important defense technologies and secrets to our enemies, Rubin explained. WND has reported that human rights activists and other analysts have said http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.viewpageId=119164 Turkey's increasingly close ties to radical Islamic states also make the Asia Minor country unfit for membership in the European Union. International Christian Concern's Jonathan Racho said Turkey's radical Islamic activism will open Europe to a freer flow of potential terrorists. There's been an increasing Islamization of Europe through immigration of Muslims from Muslim nations. If Turkey joins, then the EU rules would allow the free movement of Turkey's Islamists throughout Europe, Racho said. This possibility is a clear reason for Europe to deny Turkey's admission into the EU. Another dynamic is the coming United Nations vote on Palestinian statehood. Cohen says that Turkey's aggression is perfectly timed to coincide with the UN vote. Turkey is not just supporting it on a vote basis, but they've pulled out all the stops to escalate this issue and make it the defining issue in the Muslim world, Cohen said. Under its leadership, Prime Minister Erdogan berated Arabs for not doing enough on this issue and this is a very worrisome and disconcerting development, Cohen added. Listen to an interview with Cohen: Regarding the vote on Palestinian statehood, in a Hudson Institute conference call, http://www.hudson.org/ former Israeli ambassador to the United States Dore Gold said the Palestinian bid for statehood is a direct violation of the Oslo accords. http://www.dore-gold.com/ The Palestinian move at the United Nations is a violation, I'll even go further, it's a material breach of the Oslo agreement. How everyone reacts will have to wait until the act, Gold said. We've (Israel) made it clear however that it's a fundamental violation and that Israel is free to act as it sees fit, Gold said. Gold emphasized that European countries who signed the Oslo accords should re-evaluate their support for Palestinian statehood. The Europeans are witnesses to the agreement. They put their names on it. So, are they going to vote for or against an agreement that they supported? Gold said. Rubin said that Turkey's actions are timed to coincide with the U.N. vote on Palestinian statehood and that there is a relationship between Turkey's actions and all of the events in the Middle East. However, he said Turkey's ambitions go beyond Israel and the U.N. vote. Turkey is deliberately aiming to destabilize the entire region, he charged. As for the U.N. vote on the Palestinians, this is simply the latest example of Turkey's efforts to undermine the Middle East Peace Process and is evidence of how Erdogan's behavior is sacrificing the security of the region for his short-term political interests, Rubin said. Cohen agrees and he said that evidence of Turkey's ambitions as a Middle East power are illustrated by overtures to other major Middle East players. Beyond that, Turkey is in a confrontation with Iran over Syria, and it is reaching out to Egypt, Cohen said. Cohen says that Turkey's overtures to
[osint] Palestinians way ahead of Obama on statehood strategy, say experts

Credits: IDF/ISA Palestinians way ahead of Obama on statehood strategy, say experts · By http://www.examiner.com/user-copmagazine Jim Kouri, Law Enforcement Examiner Palestinian Authority officials initiated a full-court press propaganda campaign months before they came to New York City this week to request the United Nation recognize the Palestinian people and their territories as an independent nation. Contrary to what is being said by President Barack Obama's supporters -- who claimed on Wednesday that Obama dropped everything to appear at the U.N. in support of the Israel -- the President, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other members of Obama's administration knew about the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas' plans to appear before the United Nations General Assembly to plead his case for statehood well before September. The propaganda campaign was common knowledge within the White House, but Obama and his minions chose to ignore it and Abbas' U.N. plan. The campaign was intended to show internal Palestinian support for the move to statehood, strengthen international support and calm Jewish apprehensions by downplaying the issue of the right of return issue that continues to be a sticking point for both sides. The U.S. intelligence community and police counterterrorism units were aware of the Palestinians' plans to bypass peace talks and U.S. intervention by going directly to the U.N. It's no secret in the Middle East that President Obama is a weak but calculating politician with no real experience in matters of war, diplomacy and geopolitics, said former intelligence officer and police detective Sid Franes. Obama's U.N. performance was just that -- a performance created to strengthen his popularity with Jews in the U.S. before the 2012 election. It was just another campaign stop for Obama's re-election, plain and simple, said Det. Franes. The propaganda campaign was reinforced by broad and potentially violent popular activities, even though the Palestinians planned to moderate the events. The appeal played out on the background of the recent break-in to the Israeli embassy in Cairo and Turkey's inflammatory declarations regarding last year's Free Gaza Flotilla. On September 8, the Palestinian Authority launched their campaign calling it Palestine: State Number 194 to support its appeal to the UN, with the theme of statehood recognition. The campaign began with a communiqué to the UN Secretary General sent through the U.N. representative in Ramallah. According to the Israeli counterterrorism group, The Meir Amit, on September 9 and 10 demonstrations (of between dozens and several hundred demonstrators) were held at the usual friction points in Judea and Samaria. Further demonstrations and popular protests continued throughout the Palestinian Authority territories and among Palestinian communities abroad, although passion ran high and Palestinian protesters began to burn Israeli and American flags. The campaign is supposed to last for three weeks. It began on September 8 (with a low profile) and is expected to peak on September 21 and 23, with the opening session of the General Assembly and a speech by Mahmoud Abbas, respectively, and continue until the end of September. During those three weeks propaganda events will be held in the Palestinian Authority, the Arab world -- where the Israeli embassy in Jordan may be a focus of demonstrations -- and abroad especially in the United States and Britain. While the campaign went as planned in the West Bank, it met with difficulties in the Gaza Strip because of Hamas' ideological reservations concerning the Palestinian Authority appeal to the UN, according to The Meir Amit. A former United States police officer now living and working in Israel -- under condition of anonymity -- told the Law Enforcement Examiner that the campaign's objectives are to demonstrate internal Palestinian and international support for the UN move and at the same time to remove the international community's apprehensions regarding its inherent dangers by providing a response to the claims against the U.N. move raised by Israel. The campaign issued a call for activity by non-Muslims. Demonstrations are being organized throughout the United States, the most important of which will be held in New York City. Other cities will include Omaha, organized by Katie Huerter from a network called Nebraskans for Peace. San Francisco pro-Palestinian campaign is organized by Code Pink -- whose leader Jodie

The http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/imam-serves-as-public-face-of-an-embatt led-mosque/2011/08/31/gIQA9vB2cK_story.html article describes the mosque as follows: The mosque's name means land of migration, and every Friday more than 3,000 worshipers from more than 35 countries pack into Dar Al-Hijrah's prayer hall. Doctors from Pakistan kneel next to hotel workers from Sudan. Refugees from Somalia pray alongside naturalized citizens from Egypt. It was founded by a group of Arab college students in the 1980s. Through local fundraising drives and assistance from a few foreign donors such as the Saudi Embassy, the congregation bought 3.4 acres in Falls Church and began constructing a $5 million prayer hall. Today, its immense stone facade - chiseled with a verse from the Koran and adorned with a minaret and domes - is just off Leesburg Pike, hidden by evergreens. Its members are, for the most part, intensely committed to their faith and deeply conservative. Monday through Thursday, when many Muslims pray at home or near work, Dar Al-Hijrah regularly draws 200 to 400 worshipers, with many rising before dawn to get to prayer. http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/imgLib/20101221_JoharAbdulMalik.jpg Johar Abdul Malik, imam of the mosque. The Post article, however, fails to identify the close ties between the mosque and the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood. According to the Dar Al-Hijra constitution, http://www.daralhijrah.net/ns/?page_id=172 four of the nine mosque board members must include the current Secretary General of Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the current President of Muslim Arab Youth Association (MAYA), the current General Manager of North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) , and the current President of Muslim American Society (MAS). (Both MAYA and NAIT are components of ISNA.) All are part of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood. In 2004, the Washington Post did http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A14497-2004Sep11?language=printer report on the ties between Dar Al-Hijra and the MAS, a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood group close to the Egyptian organization. Anwar al-Awlaki, the radical imam discussed in the current Post article had been Imam of Dar Al-Hijrah to prior to 911 and in July 2005 Shaker Elsayed, the former secretary-general of the MAS was appointed as the Dar Al Hijrah imam. The former imam left to become the executive director of the Fiqh Council of North America, affiliated with ISNA. In addition, an earlier http://globalmbreport.com/?p=2339 post discussed reports that Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center was scheduled to host a 2010 fund-raising dinner for the ongoing legal fees of Sabri Benkahla, sentenced in 2007 to 10 years in prison for lying to authorities about training with militants in Pakistan. One of the three featured speakers was Jamal Badawi, a leader in many of the most important organizations of the global Muslim Brotherhood including the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR Canada), the Fiqh Council of North America, the Muslim American Society (MAS), and the European Council for Fatwa and Research. http://www.currenttrends.org/docLib/20090406_Merley2009Layout5.pdf Documents released during the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial indicate that he was (and probably still is), a member of the leadership structure of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood. The other two scheduled speakers at the dinner were Rodwaan Saleh, the ISNA Affiliates Coordinator, and John Sheldon, Mr Benkahla's attorney. Individuals convicted/indicted in terrorism-related cases that have been known to have attended Dar Al-Hijrah include: . [osint] The Questions Never Asked About Palestine
September 22, 2011 The Questions Never Asked About Palestine By http://www.americanthinker.com/steve_feldman/ Steve Feldman As the Palestinian-Arabs and their friends make their latest push for Palestinian statehood at the United Nations this week, once again the wrong questions are being asked, while the pertinent questions every reporter, activist, and foreign minister should be asking never arise. Why do Palestinians need a state of their own? Who are these stateless people? What is their history? Where have they been for all of these years? In the spirit of you don't know what you don't know, here are some Hansel-and-Gretel-like bread crumbs to guide journalists and others to the questions they might ask: Where does the name Palestine come from and who have been the people who've lived there? Of course, it was coined by the conquering Romans to add insult to injury to a Jewish nation they sought to obliterate. The Romans conquered the land, but there was always a remnant of Jewish people living there. While throughout the ages the land was under control of various powers, none called themselves Palestinian, and there was never a nation with that name. It was that Jewish remnant and those Jews who joined them over time who became the Palestinians. In modern times, the Ottoman Turks controlled this territory and, following World War I, the British (under the auspices of the League of Nations). In this period, there were many Palestinian institutions, though all of them were Jewish in character and membership. The most famous of these was, perhaps, the Palestine Post, which lives on today as the Jerusalem Post. There were Palestine orchestras and chess teams and the like. But the names of the players were Jewish, not Arab. As Jewish nationalism in the region gained strength, the Arabs and Muslims committed massacre after massacre of Jews throughout Palestine. Meanwhile, in 1922, the British took 78% of territory that was promised for a Jewish homeland by the World War I victors and the League of Nations and gave it to the Arabs. The outcome was the heretofore nonexistent Arab nation of Transjordan. Transjordan later became simply Jordan. This should be the end of the story, as the land of Palestine was divided (though quite unfairly) and an Arab state was created out of the Jewish homeland. Two states for two peoples. Being handed 78% of a territory would satisfy most people -- if their true interest were a state of their own. Instead, over the past seven decades, what the world refuses to see is the desire by the Arabs to obliterate Jewish nationalism, and later the Jewish nation that was its culmination. Violence and terrorism by the Arabs against Jews continued, and as the Arabs stepped up their pressure on the British and the League of Nations, in an attempt to appease the Arabs, the remaining 22% of the land left for the Jews was divided further. The Arabs again got the bigger portion. The Jews accepted the offer and, when the mandate expired, declared independence as the nation of Israel. The Arabs declared war. Though they were unable to defeat the Israelis, the Arabs did gain more territory. The Jordanians expanded into what they renamed the West Bank so as to erase the Jewish connection to Judea and Samaria (as those areas were called for millennia), while Egypt grabbed the Gaza Strip. The Arabs who lived in those areas never cried out for independence or claimed to be oppressed, nor threatened to go to the United Nations. Why? Because they were part of, rather than distinct from, the Arab Nation. Instead, there were incessant terror attacks. In 1964, the Arabs formed the Palestine Liberation Organization -- three years before Israel would gain control over the Gaza Strip and Judea and Samaria (aka the West Bank). So: what were the Arabs bent on liberating, and whom were they liberating it from? Did they demand a state from Egypt and Jordan? This is the same PLO that today controls the Palestinian Authority -- and has never renounced its appetite for all of what was once dubbed Palestine. It was only after Israel's miraculous victory in 1967 that the West Bank and Gaza Strip suddenly had relevance to their Arab inhabitants, and it was then that the Arab propaganda machine revved up. It eventually inverted much of the world's perception of the Middle East: transforming tiny Israel from its natural role of David against the massive Arab population and lands, to one of Goliath against the stateless, oppressed, and occupied Palestinians. It made the notion of changing straw into gold seem like child's play. And it worked. That the Palestinian-Arabs have spilled much innocent blood to get their cause out there -- murdered Olympics athletes, airline passengers, bus riders, diners -- seems to have faded from memory. But it was these headline-grabbing crimes that got them to the head of the line. The lesson: crime pays. Terror works. So, journalists,
[osint] Obama: Incompetent or Malevolent?
Both. B Obama: Incompetent or Malevolent? Posted By David Solway On September 20, 2011 The phrase politics as usual has gained a certain currency in our time. Regrettably, it is no longer relevant. What we are presently witnessing cannot be described as politics as usual. Consider the concatenation of events and factors that now confront us: the upsurge of terrorism and the growing strength of Islamic radicalism, a United Nations that has violated its Charter and is now home to totalitarian regimes and rogue nations, the international ostracism of Israel and an impending war in the Middle East, the American betrayal of its allies and a foreign policy that supports the Muslim Brotherhood and faux Arab revolutions, the corrupting influence of the left in the mainstream media and the universities, the potential economic implosion of Europe and possibly of the United States as well, and perhaps most distressingly at so critical a historical juncture, the election of Barack Obama, a man with neither business, military nor executive experience, to the most powerful office in the world. What we are observing is, in fact, the politics of the unusual, a perfect storm of forces and influences that threaten the democratic polity of the West and augur a coming epoch of peril and convulsion. And the one bulwark that might have resisted the towering wave of oncoming misfortune appears to be crumbling before our eyes. I am referring, of course, to the United States of America. What happened to New Orleans when Katrina struck is only a microcosm of the devastation that is now brewing. People rushed to blame President Bush for the disaster that devastated the city, but they were dementedly wrong or simply seeking to extract political profit from a natural catastrophe exacerbated by civic ineptitude. There can be no doubt, however, that President Obama is at the center of the approaching tsunami. I have long argued that the most dangerous man in the world is not Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or Kim Jong-il or Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, but Barack Hussein Obama. This, I believe, is no exaggeration. In a troubling article http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/09/obama_and_our_911_trauma.html for American Thinker, Stella Paul contends that in electing Obama to the presidency, Americans tried to create a god to defend our freedom, because it was easier than the hard work needed to defend it ourselves. The result proves that outsourcing courage or delegating integrity, especially to an unknown quantity, always backfires. To cite the title of the famous 1949 book http://www.amazon.com/God-That-Failed-Arthur-Koestler/dp/0231123957/ref=sr_ 1_1_title_0_main?s=booksie=UTF8qid=1316003236sr=1-1 charting the defection of former communists, Obama, like communism itself, ineluctably became the god that failed. Paul goes so far as to claim that the destruction that Obama wrought may ultimately dwarf the wreckage of 9/11. Judging by the poll data, a majority of Americans-a considerable number prone to buyer's remorse-have come round to sharing this view of Obama's dreadful stewardship of the nation and the destabilizing effect he has had on world affairs. His conduct in office has sapped the economic strength of the U.S. and impaired the rule of law (e.g., his bypassing congress in the Libyan adventure), sowed fear and confusion among our allies, prepared the scene for the rise of inimical movements and states, and materially weakened the democratic West. But the jury is still out on whether he is only a bungling amateur or is motivated by a spirit of ingrained hostility toward his own country. The debate is gaining momentum as both the foreign and domestic situations plummet from bad to worse. Is Obama merely incompetent, a man completely out of his depth who has no understanding of real-world economics or realpolitik, who cannot deliver a coherent speech without the aid of a teleprompter, who is compelled to rely on the advice of sharpers and operators, and who has absolutely no prior, genuine accomplishments to his credit outside of a capacity for political maneuvering, polished mendacity and, as David Remnick gushed in The Bridge http://www.amazon.com/Bridge-Life-Barack-Obama-Vintage/dp/037570230X/ref=sr _1_1_title_0_main?s=booksie=UTF8qid=1315919434sr=1-1 , the ability to wear perfectly creased trousers? A community organizer as president? A feckless nonentity as Commander-in-Chief? Or is Obama by no means incompetent but, on the contrary, a brilliant neo-Marxist tactician, a man with a hard-left Alinskyite agenda for the subversion of the United States as a liberal, free-market democracy and its transformation into a socialist oligarchy? A man who deeply resents the primacy and exceptionalism of the country he governs and wishes for nothing more-or less-than to see its status in the world diminish in payback for its perceived transgressions as a pre-eminent power? Are his methods the fruit of deep-dyed education and

[osint] Five Basic Arguments Against A Palestinian State
Five Basic Arguments Against A Palestinian State Prof. Paul Eidelberg Contrary to the Governments of the United States and Israel, various experts in both countries reject the “two-state” solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I shall mention their views while developing five decisive arguments against a Palestinian state: Economic, Demographic, Political, Strategic, and Democratic. 1. Economic Arguments a. A RAND study indicates that a Palestinian state would not be economically viable. It would require $33 billion for the first ten years of its existence—and this study was made before the economic crisis now confronting the United States and entire world. b. Besides, to confine more than two million Arabs to the 2,323 square miles of the so-called West Bank, and to squeeze another million into the 141 square miles of Gaza, is to doom these Arabs to economic stagnation and discontent. The projected state would be a cauldron of envious hatred of Israel fueled by the leaders of one or another group of Arab clans or thugs parading under the banner of Allah. c. Moreover, to compensate perhaps 200,000 Jews expelled from the “West Bank”—or even half that number—would bankrupt Israel’s government, to say nothing of the resulting trauma and civil discord. 2. Demographic Arguments a. “Two-state” solution advocates warn that the Arabs between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean will soon outnumber the Jews, and that this necessitates a Palestinian state. The Sharon government, without public argumentation, used this demographic contention to justify its perfidious implementation of Labor’s policy of unilateral disengagement from Gaza in 2005. b. However, a groundbreaking study by the American-Israel Demographic Research Group (www.aidrg.com http://www.aidrg.com/ ) revealed in 2005 that Israel does not need to retreat from Judea and Samaria to secure Jewish demography. The study shows that the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics exaggerated the Arab population in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza by nearly 50%. Rather than 3.8 million Palestinians, it was no more than 2.4 million. Since those registered as Jews in Israel comprise almost 80% of Israel’s population, they make up a 59% majority with Gaza and Judea and Samaria, and a solid 67% majority with Judea and Samaria without Gaza! c. The American and Israeli researchers also found that Jewish fertility rates are steadily increasing while Arab fertility rates are steadily decreasing. Not only is there no demographic time bomb necessitating the surrender of Judea and Samaria to Palestinian terrorists, but Israel’s demographic position should encourage its government to develop a strategy for annexing Judea and Samaria. 3. Political Arguments a. According to Maj.-Gen. (res.) Giora Eiland, former head of Israel’s National Security Council, “the Palestinians do not truly desire the conventional two-state solution. The Arab world—especially Jordan and Egypt—does not truly support it either …” (Jerusalem Post, September 23, 2008). b. Dr. Yuval Steinitz, former Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman, said that the idea of a two-state solution should be dead. “A Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria,” he said, “would bring about Israel’s demise.… Such a Palestinian state would immediately become an outpost for Iran” (Jerusalem Post, September 14, 2008). c. Advocates of a Palestinian state live in a fantasy world or lack the intellectual courage to acknowledge the obvious: the Palestinians are committed to Israel’s annihilation. A generation of Arab children has been educated to hate Jews and emulate suicide bombers. Daniel Pipes said it would take at least two generations to undo such indoctrination. (This would require, among other things, basic changes in the Quran. Muslims would have to renounce the ethos of Jihad. No American or Israeli official has the guts to speak of this religious-cultural issue.) 4. Strategic Arguments a. On December 29, 2002, the freighter Karin-A set sail from Iran en route to the Suez Canal. It was boarded by Israeli commandos without opposition from the four crewmen, who were members of the Palestinian naval force. When the commandoes examined the ship’s cargo, they discovered launchers and rockets, mortars, anti-tank weapons, mines, 2 tons of explosives, assault rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles with telescope lenses, hand grenades, and hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition—enough weaponry to tilt the balance of terror against Israel. The destination of the Karin-A was Gaza. Consistent with Dr. Steinitz’s warning, this Iranian arms shipment arms signifies that Iran views the Palestinians as a battle field in its 30-year war with Israel. (See Ronen Bergman, The Secret War with Iran, 2008, p. 270.) b. Even if it were agreed that a Palestinian state would have to be
[osint] Rules To Die From
http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htmurph/articles/20110920.aspx Rules To Die From September 20, 2011: The U.S. Army leadership is upset at the recent award of the Medal of Honor (the highest American award for valor) to http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htmurph/articles/20110920.aspx U.S. Marinecid:part1.08010005.06040003@yahoo.com Corps sergeant Dakota Meyer. The army generals don't begrudge sergeant Meyer his medal, because he risked his life two years ago, for several hours, in order to save the lives of 24 Afghan and American troops trapped in an ambush. What disturbs the army leaders most is that Meyer was not alone while performing his heroic act. He had a companion, Army captain William Swenson, But Swenson has received no recognition from the army. That's because Swenson has been vocal about why he and sergeant (then corporal) Meyer had to perform those heroic acts (of driving a vehicle into the ambush, grabbing survivors and shooting their way out, and doing it five times.) Before the two off them drove off on their suicidal mission. Swenson tried to get a nearby army headquarters to provide artillery and air support for the trapped men, but the officers on duty refused. This was because a new general had taken over command of http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htmurph/articles/20110920.aspx U.S. troopscid:part1.08010005.06040003@yahoo.com in Afghanistan three months earlier, and issued strict rules on the use of American firepower when there was any risk to Afghan civilians. This was part of an effort to reduce civilian casualties. Troops in Afghanistan, and everyone back home, were told that these new rules would not prevent American troops getting fire support if their lives were in danger. But for Meyer and Swenson, the restrictions were killing American troops (in this case, four marines and a soldier.) The closest American headquarters had maps showing the ambush taking place near a village, so there was great reluctance to use bombs or artillery. Meyer and Swenson both subsequently left the military. But Swenson kept pressing the army to punish the officers at the nearby headquarters who repeatedly refused to provide any fire support for the trapped troops. If Swenson, Meyer and two other marines had not driven in, at great risk to themselves, over twenty U.S. and American troops would have died. The two other marines were awarded the Navy Cross (the second highest award). Swenson is believed to be up for a medal, but the army won't say what, or when. The army has not punished anyone for refusing fire support, and apparently wishes the entire matter would fade away. In 2009, American and Afghan troops were not the only ones upset at the new rules. At the same time Swenson and Meyers were risking their lives because of the new policy; other American troops were increasingly encountering angry Afghan civilians, who demand that the Americans act more decisively in pursuing and killing Taliban gunman, even if it put Afghan civilians at risk. This was an unexpected side effect of that change in the U.S. rules of engagement (ROE). The new ROE was a response to popular (or at least media) anger at civilians killed by American smart bombs. As a result of the new ROE, American commanders had to decide who they should respond too; Afghan civilians asking for relief from Taliban oppression, or Taliban influenced media condemning the U.S. for any Afghan civilians killed, or thought to be killed, by American firepower. What to do? Taliban propaganda, and the enthusiasm of the media for jumping on real, or imagined, civilian deaths caused by foreign troops, made people forget that far more civilians (about four times as many) had been killed by the Taliban. But because Afghans have been conditioned to expect more civilized behavior from the foreign troops, much less media attention is paid to the civilians killed by the Taliban and al Qaeda. Of course, Afghan civilians are aware of who is killing most of the civilians, and that's why the Taliban and al Qaeda are moving down in the opinion polls. But the media, hammering foreign troops every time they kill a civilian, or are simply (often falsely) accused of doing so, led to the ROE becoming far more strict than it ever was in Iraq. Thus one Taliban victory you don't hear much about is how they turned their use of human shields into a powerful, and very successful, propaganda weapon against NATO and U.S. troops, and an excellent way to avoid getting attacked. Under the new ROE, you had to, in effect, do a casualty analysis and consult a lawyer, before a deliberate missile or smart bomb attack is made on the Taliban. To their credit, the http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htmurph/articles/20110920.aspx U.S. Air Forcecid:part1.08010005.06040003@yahoo.com targeting specialists (who do most of this) can carry out the analysis quickly (often within minutes). Even the lawyers have gotten quick at the decision making game. The bad news is that

And the Germans must be so pleased that the Greeks are using their bailout money as jizya to build a state-funded mosque. Actually, they probably are. Greece to Build First Official Mega-Mosque in Athens, by Soeren Kern in [10] Hudson NY http://www.hudson-ny.org/2413/greece-mosque-athens , September 12: The Greek Parliament has approved a controversial plan to build a taxpayer-funded mega-mosque in Athens. The move comes amid thinly veiled threats of violence by thousands of Muslim residents of the city who have been pressuring the government to meet their demands for a mosque or face an uprising. The September 7 vote to speed up [11] construction of the first official mosque in Athens http://www.tanea.gr/ellada/article/?aid=4655157 –- the only capital in the European Union without a state-funded mosque -– was supported by 198 out of 300 deputies from the left, right and center. The mosque plan was included in an environment ministry bill regulating illegal construction. The plan calls for renovating an existing state building –- on a disused navy base- – in the industrial [12] district of Votanikos near the center of Athens http://www.ekathimerini.com/4dcgi/_w_articles_wsite1_1_07/09/2011_405324 . The plan commits the Greek government (by way of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs) to pay for the construction of a temporary mosque which will be built within the next six months. A larger 1,000 square meter (3,300 square feet) mosque with enough space for 500 worshippers at a time will be built in the same area by the end of 2012, at an estimated cost of around €16 million ($21 million). [osint] Pakistan Urges Attacks on US Targets
Past time for the US Congress to declare war on Muslim Pakistan. B Pakistan ISI urged attacks on U.S. targets: officials ReutersBy Mark Hosenball | Reuters - 2 hrs 21 mins ago http://news.yahoo.com/pakistan-isi-urged-attacks-u-targets-officials-0022015 62.html WASHINGTON (Reuters)- U.S. officials said there was mounting evidence that Pakistan's powerful intelligence agency had encouraged a guerrilla network to attack U.S. targets, while a Senate committee voted to make aid to Islamabad conditional on fighting the militants. The decision by the Senate Appropriations Committee, which did not specify any amount of aid for Pakistan in fiscal 2012, reflects growing anger in Washington over militants operating out of Pakistan and battling U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Some U.S. intelligence reporting alleges that Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence directorate (ISI) specifically directed, or urged, the Haqqani network to carry out an attack last week on the U.S. Embassy and a NATO headquarters in Kabul, according to two U.S. officials and a source familiar with recent U.S.-Pakistan official contacts. The Haqqani network is one of three, and perhaps the most feared, allied insurgent factions fighting U.S.-led NATO and Afghan troops under the Taliban banner in Afghanistan. However, U.S. officials cautioned that the information that Pakistan's spy agency was encouraging the militants was uncorroborated. Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he had pressed Pakistan's army chief for Islamabad to break its links with the militant group. We covered ... the need for the Haqqani Network to disengage, specifically the need for the ISI to disconnect from Haqqani and from this proxy war that they're fighting, he said in a speech to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace on Tuesday. The ISI has been doing this - working for - supporting proxies for an extended period of time. It is a strategy in the country and I think that strategic approach has to shift in the future. A Pakistani official sought to play down the differences. Pakistan values its relationship with the U.S. and is committed to eliminating terrorism in Afghanistan and from our soil, said the official. We will look at all evidence shared by the U.S. side and deal harshly with anyone and everyone responsible for terrorism. The Senate committee approved $1 billion in aid to support counter-insurgency operations by Pakistan's military, but voted to make this and any economic aid conditional on Islamabad cooperating with Washington against militant groups including the Haqqanis. Washington has allocated about $20 billion for Pakistan over the last decade. In fiscal 2010, Congress approved $1.7 billion for economic aid for Pakistan, and $2.7 billion in security aid, the Congressional Research Service says. U.S. aid could be crucial for Pakistan next year as it has decided not to seek a new International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan when its current program ends at the end of this month. Pakistan has been struggling since 2008 to keep its economy afloat with an $11 billion IMF loan. About $3 billion is left to be disbursed. SIMMERING The simmering tension between Washington and Islamabad came to a head last week with the attack on the Kabul embassy. It was a major blow as the United States hopes to nudge Afghanistan toward stability and gradually bring home U.S. forces after a decade of war. Since then, American officials, including the ambassador in Islamabad and Mullen have issued unusually blunt criticism of Pakistan's failure to curb the Haqqani group. But the U.S. administration appears to have few options. One option -- another cross-border raid, like the Navy SEAL mission that killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in May -- may be tempting in some quarters. But the risks are high and the backlash from Pakistan would be fierce, almost certainly harming what counter-terrorism cooperation exists. The administration has thrown everything at this -- high-level meetings, tons of money, all of these overtures, and it hasn't gotten us anywhere, said Caroline Wadhams, a security analyst in Washington. This can't go on forever, she said, but the problem is that we have so little leverage. Pakistan denies that it still has ties to the Haqqanis but U.S. frustration seems to be mounting. Look at the language, it's clear the Americans are very frustrated with the Pakistanis. I think they are preparing the ground for more action against the Haqqanis, said Rahimullah Yusufzai, editor of the Peshawar edition of the News daily and an expert on Afghanistan. Vali Nasr, who until this spring was a senior official in the U.S. State Department's Afghanistan-Pakistan office, said efforts to prompt Pakistani action against militants with increased public pressure had no worked. They are not blinking, he said. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
[osint] Libya - The End Without End
http://www.strategypage.com/qnd/libya/articles/20110920.aspx The End Without End September 20, 2011: Bani Walid, Sirte and several smaller places remain under the control of Kaddafi supporters. Actually, there is a corridor of land, south from the coastal town of Sirte that is pro-Kaddafi. The remaining Kaddafi troops are determined, and more skilled than their NTC opponents. Crushing this last bit of Kaddafi resistance may take weeks, or longer. Sirte is under attack by some 5,000 NTC fighters, and some of the suburbs have already been captured. Several thousand are besieging Bani Walid, and moving on smaller towns in the far south. While the NTC has more gunmen than the Kaddafi forces, and the benefit of http://www.strategypage.com/qnd/libya/articles/20110920.aspx NATOcid:part1.07070605.05010301@yahoo.com air power, the NTC men are not trained for effectively fighting in urban areas. The only military tactics these guys know they picked up from TV shows or movies. As any military trainer will tell you, that kind of tactical knowledge is worse than none at all. So the NTC forces will have to use NATO bombs, or captured artillery, to destroy or demoralize the enemy, or cut off food and water and wait them out. A week of this fighting has caused several hundred NTC casualties. Kaddafi is believed to be in Sirte or Bani Walid and is still in touch with his supporters in Libya via a Syrian satellite TV network that continues to broadcast Kaddafi audio or video messages. The French company that provides satellite broadcast services for the Syrian network refuses to cut the Syrians off. Meanwhile, the NTC has a bigger problem with the stalled economy and millions of Libyans without income, or electricity or, in some cases, no clean water. Some of these folks are beginning to hold demonstrations, especially in Tripoli. On the plus side, the oil fields were generally protected (less than 15 percent were damaged) by the oil company employees during six months of violence, and production is expected to increase to 500,000 barrels a day (worth $50 million a day) within a month or so. Kaddafi had ordered the oil fields and facilities destroyed, but the oil field employees delayed and sabotaged the placement of explosives, and the rebels managed to capture (quite by chance) the colonel in charge of destroying the oil fields. The men planting the explosives were thrown into confusion, and never received the order to set off the explosives. The NTC (National Transitional Council) has not been able to form a new government, with the various tribal, religious (Islamic radical) and political factions not able to agree on who gets what ministry. The original coalition fell apart last month in the wake of the murder of the NTC military leader. It's still unclear what was going on there. Ministries controlling defense, oil and the interior (national police) are most contentious. But all 36 ministries have some political value. Many NTC backers hoped the overthrow of the dictatorship would be an opportunity to curb the massive corruption that flourished during the Kaddafi era. But anti-corruption efforts are already running into resistance. The crooks are still out there, even within the NTC, and they are eager to steal. September 19, 2011: NTC fighters captured Sabha, which is 770 kilometers south of Tripoli and astride the main road going to the Niger border. September 16, 2011: The UN has transferred Libya's UN seat to the NTC, and lifted most of the sanctions on Libya. This made it easier for the NTC to get control of over $100 billion worth of frozen Libyan assets. September 15, 2011: Kaddafi's son Saadi, and three generals who once served Kaddafi, have requested asylum in Niger. The four, and their bodyguards, has driven 1,600 kilometers to reach Niger. Such convoys have been arriving since about a week ago, and continue to. The Niger government has been taking good care of the Kaddafi officials who have shown up, but have not granted asylum to anyone yet. [osint] State of Georgia FINALLY, Happily Executes Cop-Killer
News Alert: State of Georgia executes Troy Davis by lethal injection September 21, 2011 11:24:03 PM After a day of last-minute appeals, including one made to the U.S. Supreme Court, Troy Davis was executed at 11:08 p.m. Davis convinced hundreds of thousands of people, but not the justice system, of his innocence in the murder of off-duty police officer Mark MacPhail in 1989. Though Davis's attorneys say seven of nine key witnesses against him have disputed all or parts of their testimony, state and federal judges have repeatedly ruled against him. The execution had been set to begin at 7 p.m., but the high court’s decision was not issued until after 10 p.m. http://link.email.washingtonpost.com/r/YLCS8G/YHA5QC/KJ6V4I/XQA1OM/2LY25/KI/h http://link.email.washingtonpost.com/o/YLCS8G/YHA5QC/KJ6V4I/XQA1OM/9MZN/52 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] -- Want to discuss this topic? (Image: Lockheed Martin) (CNSNews.com) - Republican critics accuse the Obama administration of bowing to Chinese pressure with its decision to upgrade aging Taiwanese warplanes rather than sell the island the later generation fighters it has requested. The administration notified Congress Wednesday of its intention to help Taiwan retrofit its fleet of 145 F-16 Fighting Falcon A (single seater) and B (two-seater) fighters bought 19 years ago, as part of a $5.85 billion arms package that includes equipment, parts, logistical support and a pilot training program. Taiwan's government thanked the U.S. but said it would continue pressing for its priority request, first made in 2006, to buy 66 F-16 C/D jets, to help defend itself against potential aggression from China, which views Taiwan as a rebellious province whose reunification with the mainland is inevitable. The upgrade of F-16 A/Bs will help enhance our defense capability, Taiwanese Foreign Affairs Minister Timothy Yang said during a late night press conference. We will continue to push for U.S. sale of F-16 C/Ds. http://cnsnews.com/image/f-16-2 F-16 Lockheed Martin calls its F-16 Fighting Falcon the world's most capable multirole fighter. (Image: Lockheed Martin) Separately, Defense Minister Kao Hua-chu pledged to continue urging the U.S. to provide new fighters, noting that the administration had not ruled out selling F-16 C/Ds in the future. Taiwan also has F-5s that are more than 30 years old. Earlier this week, Taiwan's deputy defense minister, Andrew Yang, was quoted as suggesting to an annual U.S.-Taiwan defense industry conference in Virginia that Chinese pressure was behind the holdup. These years, China is showing stronger and stronger reaction to U.S.-Taiwan arms sales, and that [has] turned your country more wary with arms sales, he said. The U.S.-Taiwan Business Council says the sale of the 66 F-16 C/Ds Taiwan has requested would help secure over 23,000 American jobs. Critics of the administration's decision not to sell Taiwan the fighters accused it of succumbing to Beijing. President Obama's refusal to sell Taiwan new military jets is yet another example of his weak leadership in foreign policy, said GOP presidential aspirant Mitt Romney. President Obama has ignored Taiwan's request and caved into the unreasonable demands of China at the cost of well-paying American jobs, he added. This deal has Beijing's fingerprints all over it, said Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The upgrade of older model F-16s is a modest step in the right direction but woefully insufficient to meet Taiwan's increasingly urgent requirements for modern combat fighters and other defensive weapons systems, she said. Ros-Lehtinen said the decision to exclude F-16 C/Ds from the arms package called into question its commitment to longstanding policy to ensure that Taiwan is able to defend itself from mainland China, as legislatively mandated in the Taiwan Relations Act. The 1979 Taiwan Relations Act (TRA) commits the U.S. to provide Taiwan with the help it needs to defend itself against unprovoked aggression. Also expressing disappointment was the Formosan Association for Public Affairs, a Washington-based Taiwanese-American lobby, whose president Bob Yang said it was regrettable that the Obama administration is letting the PRC [Peoples Republic of China] set the terms for U.S. relations with a democratic Taiwan. This decision simply means that if push comes to shove in the Taiwan Strait, the U.S. will have to bear a much heavier burden in keeping China at bay, as Taiwan will simply not have adequate means to defend itself, Yang said. It is well known that China has been engaging in a major military buildup, while aging F-5 aircraft in Taiwan's air force are falling out of the sky. Such an imbalance invites aggression. In its 2010 annual report on Chinese military power, published last month, the Pentagon said China has a total of 1,680 fighter aircraft, 330 of which are based within range of Taiwan; Taiwan has 388 fighters. The majority of [Chinese Air Force and Navy] aircraft are based in the eastern half of the country, the report stated. Currently, 490 aircraft [fighters, bombers and others] could conduct combat operations against Taiwan without refueling. However, this number could be significantly increased through any combination of aircraft forward deployment, decreased ordnance loads, or altered mission profiles. 'Reverse the pattern of

The city council of Copenhagen has given its final approval for the construction of the first official Grand Mosque in the Danish capital. The mega-mosque will have a massive blue dome as well as two towering minarets and is architecturally designed to stand out on Copenhagen's low-rise skyline. Copenhagen_Mega_Mosque_by_IranUnlike most mosques in Europe, which cater to Sunni Muslims, the mosque in Copenhagen pertains to Shia Islam. The mosque is being financed by the Islamic Republic of Iran; critics say that theocrats in Tehran intend to use the mosque to establish a recruiting center for the militant Shia Muslim group, Hezbollah in Europe. Critics of the Shia mosque have warned local politicians that the building will be owned by the Iranian regime for use as a propaganda center as well as a platform from which to recruit impressionable Muslim immigrant youths for service to Hezbollah. But the Copenhagen city council states that who pays for building the mosque is none of its concern. The Copenhagen mosque is, in fact, being built by Ahlul Beit Foundation http://www.aimislam.com/ , a radical Shia Muslim proselytizing and political lobbying group run by the Iranian government. Ahlul Beit already runs around 70 Islamic centers around the world, and has, as its primary goal, the promoting of the religious and political views of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Ahlul-Beit is opposed to all brands of Islam that compete with the form of Islam dictated by theocrats in Iran: the organization has called for the persecution of Sunni Muslims, Sufi Muslims, and Alawites as well as all secular and moderate Muslims. The organization is also vociferously opposed to the integration of Muslim immigrants into their host societies. Ahlul Beit is especially focused on spreading Islamic Sharia law beyond the Middle East; its centers in Africa and Asia, for example, have been used to radicalize local Muslim communities. In a typical quid-pro-quo arrangement, the organization offers money to the poor who then convert to Shia Islam and are subjected to religious training by Iranian-backed Imams. The group has been banned in at least a dozen countries. In Europe, Ahlul Beit mosques are usually presented to the general public as centers for cultural and sports activities, but in practice they are often used by Iranian intelligence to monitor Iranians living abroad as well as to harass Iranian dissidents. In Germany, the Imam Ali mosque in Hamburg was linked to the September 1992 assassination of four leaders of the Iranian Kurdish Democratic Party at the Mykonos restaurant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mykonos_restaurant_assassinations in Berlin. In Britain, the Ahlul Beit mosque in London has been involved in issuing death threats against the British-Indian writer Salman Rushdie. The mosque has also been used to recruit terrorists and to spy on Iranian exiles living in Britain. Mohammed Mahdi Khademi, the man who is set to become the main imam at the new mosque in Copenhagen, is a former military officer who ran the ideology department of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps until 2004, when he was hand-picked by the Iranian regime to move to Denmark. Many Iranian exiles believe Khademi has close ties to Iranian intelligence and fear the new mosque will be used against them. Some members of the Iranian democracy movement say the Copenhagen mosque is about far more than just the issue of freedom of religion. They say it is about Iran's desire to establish a political-religious foothold for extremist Islam in northern Europe. Farrokh Jafari, an Iranian exile who recently organized a protest against the mosque, told the Copenhagen-based Berlingske daily newspaper http://www.b.dk/koebenhavn/demonstration-mod-stormoske-i-koebenhavn that he is not opposed to having a mosque in the city, but that he wants to draw attention to Ahlul Beit's dubious intentions. We are protesting against Copenhagen's plans for a Grand Mosque, which is being paid for by the Iranian theocracy. We fear that the mosque will not serve its religious purposes, but simply camouflage Iran's extended arms in Denmark, Jafari said. He continued: We are not afraid of the mosque itself. We are supporters of religious freedom, and Muslims in Denmark

Ahmadinejad, in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly that prompted a walk-out by U.S. and other western diplomats, called the Sept. 11 attacks mysterious and said the United States and its allies view Zionism as a sacred notion and ideology. By using their imperialistic media network which is under the influence of colonialism they threaten anyone who questions the Holocaust and the September 11 event with sanctions and military actions, he said. Ahmadinejad attacked Western powers for a catalogue of misdeeds, but his address to the United Nations failed to mention Tehran's disputed nuclear program. The U.S. delegation walked out when Ahmadinejad said arrogant powers threatened anyone who questioned the Holocaust and the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States with sanctions and military action. Other Western delegations soon made their exit. Ahmadinejad made only a passing reference to the Palestinian issue which has overshadowed this year's U.N. General Assembly and did not comment on the Palestinian plan to ask the U.N. Security Council to recognize their nascent state. He accused the United States of using the mysterious Sept. 11, 2001, attacks as a pretext to launch wars on Iraq and Afghanistan. The United States and its allies view Zionism as a sacred notion and ideology, the Iranian leader said. Mark Kornblau, spokesman for the U.S. mission at the United Nations, condemned Ahmadinejad's remarks. Mr Ahmadinejad had a chance to address his own people's aspirations for freedom and dignity, but instead he again turned to abhorrent anti-Semitic slurs and despicable conspiracy theories, Kornblau said in a statement. Ahmadinejad's address also passed in silence over the pro-democracy uprisings that have swept the Arab world this year, including Syria, Iran's closest Arab ally. U.S. President Barack Obama told the United Nations Wednesday that Iran and North Korea risked more pressure if they pursued nuclear programs that flouted international law. There is a future of greater opportunity for the people of these nations if their governments meet their obligations. But if they continue down a path that is outside international law, they must be met with greater pressure and isolation, he said.
