Re: Text "Great Britain" appears in centre of screen in Scotland vector map

2016-09-13 Thread pshrutpark
More widespread than just GB.

The problem I referred to above related to the South Island of New Zealand.
"South Island" is displayed centre screen. Interestingly the North Island
doesn't have the same problem.

Re: Text "Great Britain" appears in centre of screen in Scotland vector map

2016-09-13 Thread Roger James
I have just looked at the data for the Great Britain case. The
"place=island" tag has been applied to a multipolygon relation. According
to the OSM wiki this is specifically not allowed! So a strong case for
removing this tag could be made. However I do not think this invalidates
the bug that has been raised. It looks like this specific tagging is wrong.
But if the place tag was moved to the coastline polygon object this would
be OK. It would be interesting to see if this was rendered more sensibly
(we do not see country names rendered at high zoom levels).

Does anyone feel brave enough to make this edit. I don't!

Re: NZ navigation on wrong side of road

I haven't experienced this problem, accept for a very brief period with a
nightly build two or three years ago.

I can only suggest that you re-install and ensure that the correct driving
region is turned on, plus metric units selected.

Good luck.

I have experienced the same problem for some time. I always know which
country or island I'm on and don't need to be reminded!

The label obscures map detail and I wish it could be removed or turned off.

Very nice, thank you! It's always hard to find trails when they
only appear at high zoom levels.

Re: Derivative renderer for walk planning on a small screen

2016-09-13 Thread A Thompson
By the way, to use that renderer, save it as a text file called
whatever.render.xml in your osmand/rendering folder. The next time you do a
full restart of osmand, "whatever" will appear in the "Configure Map" menu
under the Map rendering> Map style options. It's probably not something you
would want enabled all the time, even only in pedestrian mode, but I do
find it a handy option.

It's something to do with the rounding code here:
https://github.com/osmandapp/OsmAnd-resources/blob/master/voice/en/ttsconfig.p#L317

There's clearly an intention there to support "around one mile".

It looks like distances under 1,529 metres (bear in mind OsmAnd uses SI
units internally) get the "tenths of a mile" message.
Distances between 1,529 metres and 2,414 metres get the "around one mile"
message.

The thresholds seem a bit off (assuming I'm interpreting this Prolog
correctly). If you wanted 7 tenths of a mile to 1 mile to be reported as
"about a mile" you could change the 1,529 figure to 1,221 I suppose.

If you have an SD card in your phone and you've configured OsmAnd to use
it, you can change this file yourself. It will be in the
Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files/osmand/voice/en-tts directory (or
similar). Take a copy first :)

I don't know what type of phone you have, but assuming you have a phone
with an SD card slot, and you've configured OsmAnd to use the SD card, then
you just need to connect the phone to your computer and copy the track
files (in GPX format) to the appropriate directory.

For example, my data storage directory is
/storage/6461-6339/Android/data/net.osmand.plus/files/osmand. When I
connect my phone to my computer, I can open the SD card, and then the
"Android", "data", "net.osmand.plus", "files" and finally "osmand"
directories. Then open the "tracks" directory and copy your tracks there.
You can create extra subdirectories to organise your tracks if you want.

Thanks

What osmand folder are you using?

There are at least 3 possibilities, in the /data , /sdcard , or

You probably have your files in the /data/(...something...).
