Tom,

Thanks for the reply. I was able to locate the Apache/httpd config file
in etc/httpd/ but still am unable to locate the OTRS config files. What
directory are they in?

Thanks,

I'm a relative neophyte with Linux. I installed Fedora Core 5 on a
system and was able to get to the Apache test page. I downloaded the
RPM for OTRS and ran it. After it installed, I restarted Apache and
received the following:

Starting httpd: [date & time] [warn] useless use of AllowOverride in
line 19
httpd: apr_sockaddr_info_get() failed for static-host
httpd: could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain
name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName

And the http daemon fails. I can't even figure out where OTRS installed
and can't for the life of me remember where the Apache/httpd config
files are stored. Can anyone help get me started?

RE: [otrs] smtp problem

2006-06-29 Thread Tom French
Go to Microsoft.com and search for smtpdiag that program will assist
you in finding the problem child. From the errors smtpdiag generates you
can see what is failing. We did not change anything in our firewall, as
it allows the smtp port traffic to pass from any client. We change it in
the McAfee antivirus enterprise control. Look here, this error 10053 was
what we received in the smtpdiag test results, so we googled it, and
found the below url, showing us how to fix the problem.

yea I'm having the same problem, but my otrs is configured as smtp and

issue with my problem..You added apache.exe to the firewall and told it

We have FINALLY found the problem to why our email notifications are NOT
being sent out.
Apparently our McAfee Enterprise antivirus has a block that keeps
certain types of applications from spamming the smtp ports.

We went into the antivirus console and added apache.exe to the exclude
applications and it works fine.

We found that the [EMAIL PROTECTED] would not work on any of our
printers that needed to send alerts to the IT department, so we changed
that to a end-users email address and it worked. Now for the OTRS issue,
we also changed the administrators email address in 3 places and tried
to force an admin notification from the admin section, with no success.

Your SMTP has issues :(

Im no exchange guru but basically you need to allow your OTRS system to
"relay" through your exchange SMTP. This is a configuration that should
be
made keeping in mind that you only want computers on your
"private/internal/natted" network can relay directly through.

For example, in my company I don't allow workstations to relay through
our
mail server but I do allow the server subnet to.

I do remember a setting like "allow relay through these hosts" in the
smtp
configuration where you can add stuff to the list to explicitly deny or
toggle a radio button to ONLY allow whats in the list, which the latter
seems more logical for your solution.

HTH,

RE: [otrs] smtp problem

2006-06-28 Thread Tom French
Since we are ALL trying to trouble shoot this, here are some findings
from us.
We used [EMAIL PROTECTED] as a email address for the group id of
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

We found that the [EMAIL PROTECTED] would not work on any of our
printers that needed to send alerts to the IT department, so we changed
that to a end-users email address and it worked. Now for the OTRS issue,
we also changed the administrators email address in 3 places and tried
to force an admin notification from the admin section, with no success.

Let us know how this test works out:

Open a command prompt/shell on the computer that has OTRS installed
Type in "TELNET [exchange.servername.here] 25" (where
[exchange.servername.here] is your exchange/SMTP server).

You should get a window that looks like this:
#telnet infiniti.lala.com 25
#Trying xxx.xxx.xx.xxx...
#Connected to infiniti.lala.com.
#Escape character is '^]'.
#220 INFINITI.lala.com Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version:
6.0..
ready at Wed, 28 Jun 2006 13:59:45 -0400

(type in "quit" to close session)

Does this work for you?

Yes that address is now in, but it still
refuses to connect.

I should have stated, that otrs will not
smtp to ANY public relay sites, that allow relay… i.e. mail.cfl.rr.com

Joseph,

That makes sense, except the exchange
server is on the same network inside of our firewall, as the otrs server is
located.

The otrs server is on 192.168.111.31 and
the exchange server is 192.168.112.2 via our firewall, which allows for that
path of traffic.

I am still scratching my head on this on.

Exchange itself does not naturally allow

have to do is open relaying in the SMTP connector.  Be very careful and
make sure you specify the computers that you want relaying open for…if
you don’t you can be opening yourself up for spammers.

2006-06-16 Thread Tom French

Something has changed, as smtp was working of sending emails
to the customers.

When we send a reply to them now, we get an Error: can’t

Is there a place in the configs to set up the username and
password for the email account we are sending thru.?

Any ideas what I should be looking for.?

When I login (I am in the admin group) I see a list of my locked
tickets. There's a link under the header 'Queue: My Queues' to 'All
tickets: [some number]'. I can click that number and get a listing of
all tickets. The link takes me to /otrs/index.pl?

Check out automatic unlocking (http://doc.otrs.org/2.0/en/html/
x1362.html) and ticket escalation (http://doc.otrs.org/2.0/en/html/

Nils,

Thanks for the link, my questions is still not answered, and I may not be

What agent has FULL access to see ALL the tickets that any user has in their

I think you get rid of the tickets you aim to with this method, but
other informations of the tickets (e.g. attachments) won't be deleted
with this method.

You should use the Generic Agent instead, that's safer and cleaner.
Use the WebGUI of the agent or see
~/Kernel/Config/GenericAgent.pm.examples (here 'delete').

[otrs] Viewing ALL tickets that are status Open

2006-04-22 Thread Tom French

Hi,

Running OTRS on W2K3 server, and have about 80 employees, we setup 4 main
agents, and the rest of the employees are considered customers.

Is there a way to see what tickets are Open or delayed in process.? I want to
see what agents have tickets, and are not working them, i.e. the ticket is in
their agent queue for over 24 hours.

Thanks
Tom

[otrs] RE: Customer Screen (Logon)

2006-04-03 Thread Tom French
Nils,

I figured where to make the changes...

Added the image to here:

C:\OTRS\otrs\var\httpd\htdocs\images\Standard\

That did what I needed.

Thanks

[otrs] Customer Screen (Logon)

2006-04-03 Thread Tom French

Nils,

Is there any place, like in customerheader.dtl that I can add a Company
Graphic across the top.?

What path are the graphics stored. I looked for otrs-web/images and
could not find the directory.

Danke
Tom

RE: [otrs] FQDN

2006-04-02 Thread Tom French

UPDATE.

I found where the file is that lets me manually set a UNC.

IT was in OTRS/otrs/Kernel-->config.pl

Problem solved, and fixed.

Nils,

I know what a FQDN is, I guess my question was not specific enough.
I want to change the file (code) that sends the email, so I can put
The required IP or UNC name. We do not have this hosted on our website, it is
Behind our firewall and will not be on a public IP.

So if I could find the code section that sends the email to a customer or agent
Telling them they can view or adjust this ticket by clicking on the link in the
email.
I believe my issue will be resolved.

Thanks

Neither is a fully qualified domain name. A FQDN would be something like
server1.deicoprs.net.

[otrs] FQDN

2006-03-31 Thread Tom French
When a email gets sent for notification of a ticket being opened. i.e.:

Hi Sean,

a ticket [200603301024] is assigned to you by "Tom French".

Comment:

http://itsupport.deicorp.net/otrs/index.pl?Action=AgentZoom&TicketID=7

Your OTRS Notification Master

The above FQDN is NOT what I want. I need to use a static ip
192.168.111.31 or server1 as the FQDN.
In the sysconfig area under Framework:core, I see the FQDN field. But am
unable to make it stay to what I want after I hit Update.
Any ideas.?

Thanks

[otrs] Admin users

2006-03-30 Thread Tom French
I would like to make another two users to be able to have ADMIN access
to the OTRS.
Can someone tell me if just adding them to the admin group is enough.
Reason I ask, is I was the 2nd user added, and I see tickets in queue
that the 3rd and 4th user do not see. I added the 3rd and 4th user to
the admin group, just not sure how to adjust this.
Thanks
