[otrs] Re: new install help?

2006-02-12 Thread mmaki
I've recently setup an otrs system on debian, using the apt-get process,
everything worked and the system appears functional, however, when a request
 is
sent via email, the ticket is created, however the end user does not receive a
notification that a ticket was created nor does the support staff, even though
the system log says that the notification was sent, the MTA log (exim) does
 not
have any events for those notifications, when I close the ticket through the
 web
interface the end user receives that notification, the support staff does not

How did you set up Debian to handle mail? I believe that's key. Make sure you
set it up as an Internet Site that sends and receives mail itself. I'm sure
there is someone on this list that understands mail routing more than I that
can give some insight. It must be an exim configuration but I'm suprised there
is nothing in /var/log/exim4/mainlog

One of the first thing I did when I installed OTRS on Debian was to install
postfix which removes exim, only because I know a little about postfix and
nothing about exim.

Good Luck!

[otrs] Re: AD Authentication

2006-01-28 Thread mmaki
why would i think to look at the docs for last major release? i'll take a
 look at them.

I know, sounds strange, seems the 1.3 docs have a lot of detailed info not in
the 2.0 docs.

do i need to install the perl ldap libs for a windows install?

Probably, that's a question for a Windows user though. I Installed it on Debian.

Good luck!

 thanks,

[otrs] Re: AD authenication

2006-01-27 Thread mmaki
Actually they are very clear, if you look at the version 1.3 docs (Ch 9,10,11).
Make sure you can get the results you are looking for first with LDIFE.EXE from
a Widows box before you plug in the schema to OTRS.

 Help!

The docs aren't very clear and leave a lot out - IMHO

I'm trying to get otrs to authenticate again my AD for both myself (and
other Admins) and clients (the worker bees) at my company. is there any
pages out there that explain this better than the docs?

 Thanks,

[otrs] Re: Active Directory/LDAP authentication problem

2006-01-20 Thread mmaki
Make sure you understand your schema and can test the results (returned
records) you want using LDIFDE.EXE from Windows. That was the key to my
success. I was able to get OTRS to connect to our AD LDAP and only get the
2,000 or so records from our OU out of a domain of over 10,000 records.

Make sure you have the e-mail field in AD filled in. That set me back a while.
Since we use Notes the e-mail field was empty and we had to fill them in with
the correct address to get it work right.

The instructions in the 1.3 manual are right one

Good Luck!

[otrs] Calendar Installation Problem

2006-01-10 Thread mmaki
I'd really like to use the calendar module but if I try to install it through
the Pakage Manager I get

ERROR: Need write permission in OTRS home
Try: $OTRS_HOME/bin/SetPermissions.sh !!!

I did run SetPermission and it ran without error but I still get the above.

I tried using opm.pl but I'm not sure of the options.

This is OTRS 2.0 from apt-get install on Debian Stable Sarge with Apache 1.3.33.

Everything else in OTRS works great.

Thanks,
Mike

[otrs] AD LDAP How I got it to work for Customers

2005-12-16 Thread mmaki
Version 1.3.2 on Debian Stable installed from apt-get along with the
libnet-authentldap-perl package. I believe I needed libnet-authentldap-perl for
Net::LDAP.

1. Make sure you follow the steps outlined at
http://doc.otrs.org/1.3/en/html/ldap-integration.html all the way through at
least the Get Customer User Information section.

2. Learn how to use LDIFDE.EXE to get your correct schema info.

3. Make sure your schema includes mail. This is where I was stuck. Since we use
Notes I had to enter and E-mail address in AD and then everything worked fine.

HTH!
